HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD-BYE

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "ANY CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEAR CREATION".

I've made a new year card, which is unusual for me, but I do have someone in mind for this card. I've used toppers from a freebie kit to make a quite simple card.

As most of you know, this will be the last challenge for Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge, as Hazel has decided to take a break. It's been an honour being part of this blog for so long, and I'm really going to miss it. Thank you to everyone who has supported the blog over the years!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "INCLUDE THE WORD MERRY".

I have made a simple card this week, using pretty backing paper and a "Merry Christmas" die cut.

We've decorated our house now so well in to the spirit! Just wish work was over but alas, it looks like I'll be doing six days this week!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

CHRISTMAS ANGEL AND SAD NEWS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "THINGS WITH WINGS".

I intended to use my cute penguin dies to make my card this week but as per usual, I couldn't find them, and, as per usual, I found a die I'd forgotten about. So the angel card was made! I used snowflake backing paper layered on gold mirri card and cut the sentiment from gold mirri too, simple but sophisticated.

Now for some sad news from our leader, Hazel:

Having run this Christmas challenge blog for twelve years, I've been thinking it's time for a break .... this isn't an easy or quick decision, but one that has been on my mind for some time and recent family situations and life in general has made me realise that this is the right decision. I've been through difficult times during those twelve years and have never missed a challenge. So the challenge on 31 December will be the last one.

I've been so grateful for all those who have been on the design team over the years, including, of course, the present ones - also for the many sponsors who were so generous. So many have shared their inspirational designs and so many wonderful crafters have entered the challenges to share theirs.

Of course I am saddened by this but I totally understand. Hazel has worked tirelessly to keep two excellent blogs going but it's time for her to have a rest! I do plan on carrying on cardmaking, I have to....I have to much stuff to use up!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

GLITTERY PINK CHRISTMAS TREE

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "USE SOME GLITTER".

Well, I made a major booboo this week. I always struggle taking good photos of my cards so as my daughter had been bragging about how brilliant her new phone is, I thought I'd enlist her help, completely forgetting this card is for her. Oh well, she'd have forgotten by Christmas!

I diecut a piece of pink snowflake backing paper and layered it up on pink card, adding a sentiment Christmas tree cut from glittered card, I've embellised the card with glittered snowflakes, perfect for my sparkly (not so little) girl...she's 19 and still loves pink!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

PLAYING WITH INKS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND".

I had a play with my distress inks to make my background. I made a little spray mixture and also used a dropper to make blobs of ink, which I then splayed out with a cocktail stick. I cut out some stars, adding Diamond Dust to the top layer of these. Love how this card turned out.

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

SWIRLY CHRISTMAS TREE

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "INCLUDE A FLOWER".

I actually had a full day off work yesterday and it was really lovely! I spent time with my daughter ( she's mad as a box of frogs but I love her so much)....and I caught up with my card-making. Perfect.

I had to drag my old Cricut machine out this week so while it was all set up I cut a few different shapes, this swirly tree was one of them. I've teamed it up with holly print backing paper and a beautiful poinsetia flower.

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

THE NIGHTMARE CHRISTMAS STOCKING

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "INCLUDE A STOCKING".

Well, I had a right game this week. For once, I knew exactly what card I wanted to make, with a beautiful, intricate stocking die, so I set about making it. Got my Big Shot out of my cupboard and looking through my file of Christmas dies...I'm not the most organised of people but I knew it was there somewhere. IT WASN'T! I searched everywhere and it was nowhere to be seen. So plan B, I handcut a stocking from red and white card, adding faux snow to the white bits. I cut a strip of snowlake backing paper and put the card together, embellishing with wooden snowflakes. It's okay but not as pretty as the die. I put all my things away, looked at my table and there it was. My missing die had been hiding under my Big Shot!

To make matters worse, when I tried to do my blog post, my PC decided it wasn't going to play. Got it sorted now (damn Windows updates!)....and here we are. Better late than never.

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL AT CHRISTMAS

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL".

Every year, I make a card for my very special neighbours, using one of my colourings from Kit and Clowder classes. I dread letting my colourings go, but I know this will be in safe hands...my neighbour keeps them all!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.

I have continued to find long forgotten treasures in my stash. This is more of the gorgeous paper pack I found last week, layered up on red card. I've stamped and embossed the sentiment, and finished the card off with a few snowflake stickers.

I've had a little tidy up of my craft room this week....obviously finding things I'd forgotten about. This backing paper is from a complete pad I found tucked away. I die cut a stitched square of it, layering up an embossed snowflake circle, and a sentiment cut from red card.

CHEEKY PERCY

Hello bloggers! It's Saturday so it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge . As always, it's an "ANYTHING GOES" challenge as long as it's Christmas related, with the optional theme this week of "INCLUDE A PENGUIN".

I missed you all last week. Work is a nightmare at the moment, and no signs of getting any better for a while. Since when did part time turn into 40 hour+ weeks?! Good job I love my job!

Anyway, I had a little time spare to make my card this week. I've used an embossing folder and an icicle die cut  to make this card. The backing paper is from a wad of Christmas papers I found whilst I was looking for something else, as you do! I've added a cute little penguin which I think is fromWhimsy stamps, coloured in with Copics. Cheeky little chap!

Looking forward to seeing your makes.
