Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Its been a looong short week (if you know what I mean) and I'm so excited its the weekend! I'm going to Harrogate (ohhh) for the day with some of the girls, it will be nice to catch up. I'll try to remember the camera and take some pictures!

1. Cupcakes should have stands – so cute!
2. Rainy days aren't so bad (as long as I’m sat inside…)
3. Seedling wedding favours are a great idea…
4. …but photobooths at weddings may be the 1 reason to get married!! Here & here!
   (I love so much I told the boyfriend – he’s not so sure, hehe)
5. Just because you can recycle things – doesn’t always mean you should
   (I love this blog, it helped to cheer me up!)

Mixed emotions...

After talking to my Mum last night I found out that our (I say our, I haven't lived at home for 5 years...) neighbour of 15 years passed away yesterday. It was not a shock as she had been taken into hospital a couple of days ago but I was still extremely saddened by the news.

The thing that upset me the most is that the puppy didn't understand why he couldn't go round her house to see her... we have a gate between our houses and she looked after him 2/3 days a week whilst my parents were working so he is used to going over there whenever he wants. How do you explain such sad news to a dog? He did cheer my Mum up during the day though - after she had cried all over him... bless him.

Thankfully, I did have some happy news this morning to cheer me up. Jamie from Same New Story has given me a one lovely blog award! How exciting, I still can't believe that she reads my blog, let alone likes it! Thank you Jamie, I really appreciate it and it couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm not going to share the blog love right now as I have no idea who I want to give it too, so I'm going to plow through my blog list and have a little think...

Talking of weddings...

I mentioned here that one of my best friends is getting married next year. Did I mention that I was going to be a bridemaid? Eep! I can not wait!

I'll admit I may have sent her a message on sunday (after a drink, oops) saying how excited I was about it only being 11 months until her wedding...

So instead of bombarding her with overexcited text messages (or as well as... you never know) I decided to celebrate her impending wedding each month on my blog instead, yeay! I realise that this is 3 days late, but heres a snippet of the wedding, birdcage centrepieces, lovely.

Only 11 months to go!

I love weddings...

I love weddings... I just can't help it. I love that two people and their family and friends can come together and celebrate love and the commitment to spending the rest of their lifes together.

(I'm such a romantic I know...)

My previous boss got married at the weekend and her wedding photos were gorgeous (taken by Garry Castle, ohhhh) This one is my favourite!

Reasons I love Leeds #2

The more I think about it, the more I do not want to move away from Leeds anytime soon. I always thought I would eventually move back to Norfolk, buy a house... yada yada yada* but I just can't see it happening yet...

We are luckily enough to live within a sensible walking distance of the Kirkstall Abbey, so on the nicest day of the year so far we decided to go for a walk.

As it was Bank Holiday the trains were running - not worth us going on it really, but it is cute!

The Abbey looked stunning in the sunshine...

and Boyfriend treated us to ice creams!

I had a Zzapp! He spoils me :)

*Sorry about the yada yada - we watched alot of Seinfeld over the weekend... oops

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Its been such a busy week. I've gained followers (yeay) and I've found 20 more blogs to follow - I'm over 100 now, madness!!

1. Other people make 'Things we learnt' lists too… lists make me happy :)
2. There are paper towels… and there are paper towels (I love!)
3. I wish I was this organised – I think this might be the top thing on my to do list now! I love the boxes!
4. This is far too cute… I love teacups at the best of times.
5. I should use my moleskin for doodling. I’ve had it for over a year and its so pretty I haven’t wanted to touch it… I think doodling is the way forward though!

I can't wait for next week - lets hope it's as exciting!

We went bowling. I even managed a couple of strikes

and I got distracted by the little shoes! How cute...

Next month we are going to Flamingo Land... I can't wait!

A cute dress...

I always enjoy blogs about fashion even if I don't take it that seriously. I've wanted to post about the Banana Republic dress I got in a charity shop for £3.99 last weekend for a while - Bargain!

The buttons go at the front but I reckon I could get away with wearing it the other way round as well. I love it. Just need to get a pretty little belt to pull it in a little and I'll be sorted!

My 100th Post!

Well here we are… the 100th post! I can’t really believe that I have written that many, especially considering my confession in March and that I haven’t had a blog for very long. (my first post was Feb!) How wrong I was to think that I didn’t need a blog!

It took me while to think about what I wanted to write about for my 100th blog – I knew it had to be something special! So in following the theme of lists that have been batting around the blogging world (here and here) I decided to start my own!

10 ways my blog has changed my life (for the better):

1. My favourite colour has changed to yellow (a rather substantial change, red was my favourite colour for a long time!)
2. I’ve realised its fun to takes things as they come and do something on a whim.
3. I have discovered some wonderful people (see huge blogroll!)
4. I read more – about everything!
5. I have a fringe (I love it!)
6. I took the plunge and tried red lipstick (also love…)
7. Flickr, Etsy and Poladroid - need I say anymore…
8. I've accepted design no longer dominates my life (tough after a 4 year design degree)
9. I now look forward to getting on a computer, rather than dreading it.
10. I appreciate the little things more and how lucky I am to be in love.

I started my blog as an attempt to offload my negative emotions, however it has become a celebration of things I like, things that make me happy and distractions from the negative aspects of life… which really is an awful lot better.

Followers...

The followers thing confuses me... For a second I swear I had 2 followers. I had a new follower by the name of AB... but then my screen went blank, I tapped a button on my mouse and they were gone :(

Can you delete followers? I hope I didn't delete them by accident... or maybe they decided not to follow me anymore... either way I'm a bit sad that I lost my second follower. Is there anyway of finding them and inviting them back to your blog?

Reasons I love Leeds #1

Its funny how life turns out...

Around about a year ago I got offered a great job at an Interior Design company. Unfortunately the job was in London and having spent a year in London with very little money I really wasn't comfortable with the idea of moving back (especially for the pay they were offering). Also we had friends in Leeds and a lovely home. It was a tough decision but I decided to turn it down. I've never regretted that decision but occasionally I do think what if... especially as the job that I am doing now is not interior designy at all.

However yesterday totally blew all the what if's out of the water!

Reasons I love Leeds #1: Secret gigs in tiny bars!

I have never seen my boyfriend so excited about going to a gig before. Every what if and struggle we have had since we decided to stay in Leeds was totally worth it

just to see him that happy!

Of course we didn't see anything as it was packed, but we did hear it, so its all good. And we were there, which only a few can say...

Isn't it funny...

How you find something you think is really cool and pretty only to find that it is already everwhere in the blog world... Oh well :) I'm still posting this anyway!

When I get married I am wearing pumps and I will be hugely happy if they are yellow!! Eeep!
