Another TTM Success From Tony Perez

A nice completion happened recently when I got this 1976 Topps NL RBI leaders card back from a private signing with Tony Perez.  I had gotten Greg Luzinski at a National and Johnny Bench at one of the Hope For The Warriors signings a couple years ago.

I am really happy the card got completed. It looks really cool.

I sent to the Perez signing on March 9 and got the card back on April 10, for a 32-day TAT.

2022 National Free Signer - Greg Luzinski

Greg Luzinski has been a free signer at (I think) three Nationals that I have been to.  He has been at enough of them that I had to dig deep into an old Donruss box to be able to supply cards for my friends and I for this show.  I got one card signed, though, and didn't have to put his stuff back in the box.

I hope Tristar diversifies next year's group, because I'm getting low on cards for some of these guys.

2021 National Free Signer - Greg Luzinski

This turned out to be more of an ordeal that I wanted it to be.  Full disclosure, I have been working on this post for the last 4 hours; since my scanner decided to end its life today.  For some reason, it wouldn't connect anymore to my laptop, and after troubleshooting for hours, redownloading drivers and knocking a bunch of stacks of cards over, the printer ended up in pieces and in my trash can.  As my boss, Justin would say, it won't bother anyone anymore.

So, all cards scanned now, will be with my new Epson scanner that takes up 1/3 less space on my desk.  So much room for activities.

At the National, I had to bail on the Friday signing of Greg Luzinski in order to get to the Horror Con to get some autographs there.  Thankfully, Michael stood in line for Luzinski and got my three cards signed.  I had met Luzinaski at the National a few years ago and only got one card signed.  This time, three were taken care of.  I intend to get the card at the top of the post signed by Johnny Bench next week, which will be cool.
These two, a 1972 and a 1973 Topps, both turned out great.

Thanks for standing in line for these, Michael!  I think I made up for it on Sunday, though!

National Free Signer - Greg Luzinski

One of the last free signers that I was able to get at the National was Greg Luzinski.  I don't really remember his signing, I just remember standing in line forever.  I thought this 1983 Fleer would look cool signed, and I was right.  I wasn't able to use a Wild Card on him, which was disappointing, since I had a ton of his cards that I could have gotten signed.  By the time I was done with his signing, I was over trying to get anyone else.  The VIP signer experience at the National was rough, and I don't think I will work as hard when I go next year.

Luzinski (b. 1950) played in the majors from 1970 to 1984 for the Phillies and White Sox.  He had 1795 hits, 307 home runs and a .276 batting average.  He was a 4-time All Star and finished twice in the NL MVP voting (1975 and 1977).  He won the World Series with the Phillies in 1980.  Luzinski appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot in 1990 and received 0.2% of the vote.

Almost Done WIth 1971 Topps

One of my main goals when I went to the Columbia Antique Mall last weekend was to try to knock out as much of my 1971 Topps set as I could.  I was able to do so by getting 72 cards that I needed.  The main highlights were the above Dusty Baker/Don Baylor RC and the below Greg Luzinski RC.
I still need several stars, apparently, so it will still take me a bit to complete the set, but I did major damage to the needs list this weekend.  I will be happy when I can finally put this set to bed and focus some more on 1959 and 1969.
