Moody Paris Afternoon
On a very cold Paris aternoon,
we slipped into one of our favorite venues…
a discreet little gem just off the square at
Place des Voges
Pavillion De La Reine
with its ivy covered façade has always held a fascination, but this is the first time I have seen that bare and lovely face in the cold of Winter and believe me there is no love lost.
With Winter as a backdrop, I think I more fully appreciate the dark and moody interiors of the lobby, bar and library.
The colors, textiles and furnishings mix for an alluring decorative cocktail…
contemporary appointments against storied backdrops.
Cocooned in all of this moody luxury, the hot chocolate was perfectly suited for chasing away our winter chills.
As my daughter and I lingered over cocoa and conversation, I started to relate the rich textile covered walls
to the hue of the brick colored stones of Place de Voges…
the greys of the upholstery to the slate roof tops…
the black wood mouldings to the bare silhouettes of the trees…
Inspiration by chance or by design…what do you think?
Le Pavillion De La Reine in Spring…
and Winter…
and Winter.
Stunning in any season.

While I have never stayed there, I hear that the accommodations are quite wonderful…this is the room I would choose.

I feel like I just took a little stroll through the streets of Paris. The bar at the hotel was so inviting and I could imagine ducking in for a cocoa after walking the area on vacation! I love winter and this is the very reason why…there is so much beauty to be found everywhere this time of year.
Continued good joy to you and Haleigh. What a wonderful holiday you must be having.
