Clay Mushrooms

I saw some really cute little felt mushrooms on Etsy and decided to try and make some with clay.  I used a light-weight stone clay and they are very light.  I could not wait to take a picture of them.  I also took a pic of them by my little fairy door that I bought on Etsy a while back.  I think I must be in the mood for spring!  LOL

Do You Believe in Fairies?

O h my goodness, my favorite time of the  year.  Time for the fairies to come out soon from their winter sleep.  I could not wait to start working on the front of their home  and their pond as a kind welcome to them.  I just want them to keep coming back.  So, I found them this fabulous door on Etsy by Jay Beesmer  at Wooden Treasures , from North Carolina!  It arrived today and it is more beautiful in person!  I love it Jay and the fairies will too.  The butterfly, well that is right up our alley around here in funky queendom.  THANKS Jay! As a side note, Jay and his wife at Lovingly Crafted ...are quite the brilliant wood artists.  You just have to go and check them out on Etsy. Here is a close up of the door! Do you believe in fairies?  I hope you do!  Isn't it enchanting to imagine that the fairies do all kinds of magical things at night while we are sleeping?  I would love to know what your thoughts are ...

Christmas Decorations

I think I mentioned I already did the Christmas decorations since Cody will only get to be here for Thanksgiving and not Christmas. I kind of did a blue/silver winter type tree. It is different for me as I usually do a traditional type. Cody arrived Monday evening and we have enjoyed him so much. He leaves on Saturday. We celebrate Thanksgiving with the big family gathering over at my Aunt Peggy's house. I'm hoping that we will all get to go to a movie later today as well. FUN! Yes, I will take my camera....you know that! Hubby and I were out cleaning around the pond yesterday and I noticed the fairies have already put out their Christmas decor. It's like they knew that Cody was coming. I think that was sweet if that was the case! Anyway, you all have a wonderful day, hopefully filled with family, friends, food and naps-and THANKFUL THOUGHTS.

What Me and the Fairies Did For Labor Day

T his morning I was feeding the fish and I noticed a little fishing pole on the rocks by the edge of the pond. I looked closer and I could see that the fairies had definitely been fishing. Looks like they left all their stuff there on the rocks. It makes me wonder if they saw the size of the fish and decided they needed a bigger net. Or maybe they got scared! Oh well, I just left their fishing equipment alone so they can come get it later. I also noticed they added on a new luxury to their home or should I say close to their home? How cool! I opened the little door to their outhouse and it looks as though they have already begun to enjoy their little private potty. They left their magazine for next time. So, it looks like the fairies did some work and had some leisure time for the 3-day Labor day weekend. Just like us. I did my usual house cleaning and weekend chores but I decided I was going to have some fun too. Monday, I went with Craig to do some Geo caching . We found several a...

Fairy Door Discovered

So I was cleaning around the pond area yesterday after we had a big storm that caused leaves and sticks to fall all over the place. I like to keep the pond area nice and "manicured" so that we can sit out there and enjoy it. Well, as I cleaned around the tree that is in the middle of the pond, something red caught my eye at the base of the trunk of the tree. I began to brush away the leaves and debri and to my wonderment and surprise......look what I discovered! WE HAVE FAIRIES!!! OK, it was a stretch. But, I was so inspired by the story about the shop keepers in Ann Arbor who have Fairy doors all over the town. I first read about this in a magazine this summer. I believe is was Romantic Homes. Then, I saw the article about Amy Powers in ARTFUL BLOGGING (AUTUMN 2008)-SEE PAGE 96. She created this little fairy world she calls "Club Little House". You can view her blog here at INSPIRECO . I was so intrigued and I could not stop thinking about how I wanted to create so...
