growing

My little Lincoln is growing!!!  I can't believe how fast they grow!  The hat I made him is fitting better now, so I had to do a little photo shoot.  He was being so cute...I even caught him smiling on camera!

baby gifts

One of my best friends, Jen, had her baby boy a couple weeks ago. Here is the diaper clutch and baby hat I made for her. She let me get a bit girly with the clutch (since she will be the one carrying it) and I made the baby hat out of an old shirt of hers...kinda fun!

The Ruffle Foot

Do you have a ruffle foot for your sewing machine? It is the coolest thing ever!  I bought one a long time ago and it took me months before I ever tried to use it, but once I did I was soo happy!!  No pulling threads or trying to get a perfectly even ruffle...it does it for you!  Here's what my ruffle foot looks like.
And here's what I quickly whipped up the other day with it.
I just cut some strips of knit fabric,

ruffled them up,

and sewed them on a $2 sweatshirt from WallyWorld.

Quick and easy!  Here are a few more pictures of my little model.  And yes, she is wearing fake leather pants...who could resist them when they were only $1 at Target!

And here's a close up of her little hair flower...I still love rolled rosettes!

A couple more

I had such a good time making the little hat for Lincoln, I thought I would try making a few more.  I've made three more, but I can only show you two. The other one is for a good friend, who I know checks my blog (Hi Jen!).  I'm still working out certain things with these hats, but I think I'm off to a good start.  These are super simple and the possibilities are endless!

I made this one for a friend's baby shower.

And here's the other one!

Baby Boy Dress

No, I didn't really make a dress for my baby boy!  But, I did make a little gown for him!  When we had our first son, we had a little gown that he would wear to sleep.  It was nice and easy to change his diapers when he woke up in the middle of the night.  My husband would always call it his "dress".  I thought it would be fun to make a new little gown for our little boy that is coming in January (who is still nameless...any suggestions?).  So, here is a little "dress" made out of an old T-shirt of my husbands.

Zipper Rosettes

My friend Tami has an awesome tutorial on her blog about how to make zipper rosettes. She totally scored a bag of random colorful zippers at a local thrift store and has been having fun transforming them into super cute rosettes! Check it out HERE.

Last One

Okay, this is the last one. Here is my final entry for the Lil Blue Boo / Dharma Trading Design Challenge.
I wasn't necessarily planning on making so many, but seriously they are sooo fun to make!  And I had this super cute flower shirt that I wanted to use for this next one.  So, here is what I came up with:

Because of the way the front of the flower shirt was, I wasn't able to use as much of the shirt as I wanted to in the dress.  So, instead I used the flowers on that shirt as the inspiration for the giant flower applique.  And the sleeves are a sort of bell sleeve and are gathered where they attach to the dress.  What do you think?

I tried to do a little photo shoot this morning, but I am no photographer.  I wish my friend were here this morning to take the pictures.  But, here are a few fun ones.  Maybe jumping on a bed isn't the best idea for a photo shoot, and then adding the wild older brother and things got even crazier...oh well.  I'm excited to see all the other entries for the Lil Blue Boo contest...I bet there will be some amazing ones!
