Big bundle of love

pastel 19x24

After working on a commission all week at my studio that I cannot post yet because it is a surprise for someone who might see my blog. I was so dying to do this dog portrait, it had been on my list for awhile, this bundle who is 150 pounds is my grand dog Bradley, a Bernese mountain dog . I want to use him as an example for possible commission in the future, and before open studio in the fall.

I am back! I can't believe a week has past and I didn't post . So much has happened in a week , Christmas trip to the ER for my husband , back home and then back to the ER ,a case of Shingles ( Zona ) with complications got him a stay in the Hospital for 5 days . Also have a full house of children grandchildren and four dogs ,not much time to do anything else but keeping everyone happy . The Slate was done for a Christmas present for my son who had lost his dog in the fall .
Happy New year to all and for sure the best of health for 2011

Brady,copyrighted 2008

I was painting kitchen walls in the morning , a project that needs to be finished since March .In the afternoon I decided to paint my daily of a flower arrangement I received from my daughter yesterday for my birthday.
Painting roses ,and it was not coming out the way I wanted, well! I took a rag to the canvas and starded over, but changed to a dog portrait . You never know what you are going to end up when you pick up a brush.
so here it is a 6x6 oil on wrapped canvas ,
Brady is a wheaten Terrier . Email me if you are interested , nlcasey@charter.net

Buster

I did manage to paint today between contractors , not what I am posting today, but a few days ago I painted Buster for my son's birthday , it was his dog ,but the poor thing died last year of cancer at the age of nine , we have great memories of him , he was a great dog. I used to go to the house during the day when they were at work and that's the way I remember him looking at me at the window.
