Shopping

I am serious when I say that all of you who have girls must have some fun times when shopping. I would be broke if I had a girl. The twins and I headed to the outlets today in search of sweaters and shoes. I saw so many adorable things for girls. It is just so much fun dressing a girl. Dressing a boy is fun too until they realize that tshirts and jeans are the best thing for them. They each found a pair of shoes and maybe two other things they liked. I found some really cool shoes for them but they looked like I had grown a third head when I suggested it. Their response was we have crocs, we have tennis shoes, why do we need these brown loafers? Well they did not need them but they would look cute with some of the shirts and jeans I saw. I finally called it a day and came home. Oh, do not get me wrong, I had fun with the munchkins. It was nice to get out in the autumn weather. They even remarked how pretty a day it was. Ben and Jerrys was the highlight of their day. I just realized I have lost them to the comfort world of jeans and Tshirts. Only so much we can do with that!

After we got home, I finished up this shirt for a little girl. It is a fun applique of a pumpkin. We could have stopped right there. It would  have look great as is but since I do not have a girl...... well I just had to add more to it because it is fun to do when you can. Ribbons and buttons now adorn the shirt and I added 3 inches of fabric to the bottom.

I think it would look awesome layered over an orange shirt. We will have to see how Miss C wants to wear it. She knew she wanted the pumpkin design so I am sure she knows just how she wants to wear it too.

Back to School

Most of you sent your kiddos back to school a couple of weeks ago but we just sent ours back last week. My oldest is in middle school and I am homeschooling the twins this year. Back to school shopping was easy peasy this year. I was elated with how short my shopping list was but then I became nostalgic for that feeling you get with back to school shopping.  New clothes, backpacks, lunchboxes......so much of that was not needed this year since we are at home. As we were kind of preparing for  back to school, a friend contacted me about making a special dress for her daughter, who was starting school this year. I really do not do dresses. Dresses like hair bows are just not something I have been allowed the pleasure of experiencing in a house full of boys.

Working on her daughters dress brought back so many memories of how we always prepared which new outfit the boys were going to wear on that first day. We usually took a pic of them with their new backpack and lunchbox heading out the door with a sign that has the first day of school written on it. I hope my friends daughter enjoyed her first day at school . This is what I was able to come up with for her daughters first day. I have this adorable crayon font that I have been waiting for the chance to use. This seemed the perfect time to try it out.

I really like how her mom wanted a bow tied on the crayon.

Since I do not get to hang around the girly world very often, I tried my hand at making some cute little hair clips.

I kind of liked hanging out in the dress and hairbow department. I might have to live vicariously through my friends with girls for awhile.

Personalized baby blocks

Every since I bought my embroidery machine, I have been playing around with fonts I have found. I love this one font in particular named boys. I do not know why they named it boys because it actually works for both genders. All of the capitol letters have a pic of an item that starts with that letter. Just absolutely adorable!!!!!  I immediately thought I would use it to make some baby blocks.

Then the more I thought about it..... I knew I wanted to put the babies name on it. A name is such a powerful thing. It solidifies who we are, sets forth our identity and it is normally one of the first things a baby learns. I think it is a great way for the child to connect their name with the letters of their name. In addition to the name, I knew I wanted to add taggies, different textures and a sensory effect for the ears. This is what I came up with.

I made this one for Zoey. It has crinkly paper inside the block. The boys and I can not stop touching it. We love the crunchy sound it makes and all the taggies feel neat. Did you notice the zebra in the "Z"? It may be hard to see in the pics but it is there.

Jack will be receiving this one. I really loved all the fabrics I used - a waffle texture, some flannels with cars printed on them and I actually used a square from a onesie with a car embroidery on it. I put a bell inside Jacks block. It sounds great!

So what do you think......should I put these in my store?
Which brings me to another scenario. So many of you keep prodding reminding me to put more of my stuff in the store. It is on my to-do list, I promise but I must tell you a secret. It is so easy to procrastinate on that when you start a project. I tend to love creating toooo much. Then I get lost in it. But I promise I only have 3 projects finish up tomorrow. This coming weekend,,,, my store will be loaded with the items. If I do not do this, someone please prod remind me again ....please!

Its all about me!

At least it was today. I managed to get a good bit of stuff done on my embroidery machine (remember I am still playing exploring on it). It has been fun but also frustrating at times too. Over all though I got quite a bit done. I feel a tad bit more comfortable with it. After focusing on embroidering I was able to finish up a project meant just for me.  I made a little tote to go with a cooler I had bought that is hot pink with white dots. Luckily I had found some placemats with the same design at the Dollar Tree. It was super easy to convert them into a tote. I added a couple of pockets on the outside/ inside and finished it off with my name in some lime thread.

I love it, matches the cooler perfectly! I just need to make me a lime Keyper to wrap around instead of the pink one I have on it now. That will have to wait till my next ME
day.

Oh and can you believe we are almost to the six month mark for Christmas?????
I plan on celebrating next week with a post everyday about all things Christmas. I have already made my list of gifts to make and projects I need to get done. I will share that with you as well as some of our family traditions, ornaments, and favorite dishes. Have a wonderful weekend!

Tu-tu Cute!

These are cute, don't you think? One of my friends was given these for her newborn daughter. We were all oohing and ahhing over them while she was contemplating what kind of outfit to put together to match the shoes. I suggested a pink onesie with a lime green tutu with a matching design on the onesie. So that is how this little project came to be. We were lucky she actually already had a hot pink onesie so I just cut a flower design with freezer paper to create a stencil. After adding the flower to the front , I thought I would embroider an A across the flower since her sweet little ones name starts with an A. Not only did I think it would look good, I was so anxious to use my new embroidery machine. Yeah.... I just jumped right on that and I could not have been happier with the result. YAY for embroidery machines!
Now I just had to attach the Tu-tu. Ok let me just say working with netting , tulle is a pain to some degree. I am sure the more you work with it, the easier it becomes. As a mom with 3 boys, well you just do not have lots of dates with tulle. I keep hoping that one day my boys will marry some sweet girls and give me a granddaughter so I can do all of this on a regular basis. As far now I must live vicariously through my friends. *LOL*
This was the end result and I think it turned out tu-tu adorable for words. I can not wait to see "A" in it for her 6 month pictures.

Now I just need to make a little bow to match for her hair and I think she will be set!

I am linking this little Tutu to the following:
