Pretty Pastels

Such a beautiful day!  It's quite the winter wonderland, with the tree branches also covered in snow, and it looks like the sun is going to shine.  Although it may look pretty, that snow is very heavy to shovel.....so I'm hoping for some major melting to happen.  I'm heading to the garage today for a new car battery, and I'll be running some other errands too.  At least the roads are clear.

So today I've a card with some nice spring colours, just to let Mother Nature know what I'm hoping for.  So, just a quick post before I head out.  Let's hope spring comes along soon!!!

Paper from MME - All Dolled Up collection

Party animal...

I hope you all had a good weekend, and are feeling a little better than this poor fellow!  I'm afraid he looking a little rough around the edges. (lol)  This is another fab image from the Best of Just Inklined 2012 CD ROMI've gone with a birthday card, as I have someone in mind, but it would also work well for other celebrations too.

I've used my copics again, adding some nice bright colours.  No embellishments this time, just a number of layers to frame the image and make it pop.  The DP is something from my old stash of scrapbooking paper.  It was a little tricky finding one that worked with all those colours!

Some challenges for my card:

Wednesday's Creative Inspirations - #202 Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - #257 Simplify
Here Come the Boys - #46 Lots of Layers
Creative Card Crew - #30 Birthday

A One Layer Card

Good morning...at least I'm hoping it is!  This winter has been a blast....of nothing but snow and cold weather.  I'm surely looking forward to spring.  If you are spending lots of time inside crafting, perhaps you can join us this week in our challenge at Charisma.  The theme this week is One Layer Cards

So, as you can see....there are no added layers or embellishments.  I've used 3 different stamps with black ink, some blue chalk for shading, some glitter, and lots of doodling...all with glitter pens.  The oval shape border was created by tracing around a Spellbinder's die, while for the zigzag border I used a stencil.

Stamps used
Queen Anne's Wildflowers Silhouette - from Sweet Stamps
Butterfly from the Inkadinkado - Garden Flower set
Sentiment from the Hero Arts - Sending Smiles set

This week we have two lovely sponsors, once again with some wonderful prizes:

A little bit country...and western

Good morning folks!  There are some new images this week at Just Inklined, and the DT is having plenty of fun with them, one day at a time.   Living in a rural community in Ontario, I don't profess to know anything about horses or saddles, but I've been to Sante Fe and love the colours to be found there!  That was my inspiration for this card, using this gorgeous image....Saddle Up.

I used my copics, once again, making sure I got some turquoise and burnt orange in there!  Kept it simple with just some brads for trim.  The sentiments are done with silver peel offs, and the papers are from an old paper pad from Cosmo Cricket, called Wanted.  I never thought I would ever get to use that paper with the horses on it!  Worked like a charm.

Hopefully you've been watching what the rest of the team has been sharing, as there are plenty of other images in the collection.  Here's a peek, and a link.

Thanks for stopping by...and have a wonderful day!

Not a Valentine card

No Valentine card from me today.  I know I'm not alone in this, but for those of us who have recently lost our better half, this is a rather emotional day where it brings to mind what we are missing.  My heart goes out to you.  For the rest of you, be sure to give your partner that extra hug and kiss...you have no idea what the future has in store.

Today I'm showing you a card using lots of different Tim holtz stamps and elements, with some very inky techniques.  First, the card blank, which I embossed entirely on my Score Pal, to give it a check pattern.  I also cut the front narrower that the back, letting the layers extend over the edge.

I played with some resist paper, using a stencil and some red DI stain to make the dots.  Rubbed a dark blue stain over one corner, and a honey colour stain over the rest.  While most of the stamping is one with black archival ink, the sewing mannikin is stamped with white ink.

If you look closely, you will see a strip of tissue tape and a couple of buttons.  Some ribbon, and a couple of Tim's metal embellishments to finish it off.  The Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps...one of the Magical Mini Letter Seals.

This was definitely something different for me to do.  I'm sure it could use lots of improvements, but not bad for a first go.

Have a great day people, and don't eat too much chocolate!  Wine would be good though!

Beautiful dreamer...

Good morning all!  I'm almost afraid to look outside....we've had quite the storm and lots of snow.  I am so thankful that we had a mild winter last year, with all the medical visits and hospital stays for my husband.  Although I miss him more than words can say, I am so glad his suffering is over and he doesn't have to deal with this nasty weather!  I guess that could be called a 'silver lining.'  Hopefully spring will be along soon.

In keeping with the weather, I thought perhaps a Christmas card would be in order.  Doesn't this guy look warm and cozy?  This is another one of the super images from The Best of Just Inklined's CD ROM.  It's on sale right now, so be sure to check it out if you are looking for a great bargain!

I've coloured the image with copics, again cutting it out with the 'out of the box' technique, using a Spellbinder's die.  I played around with some new paper from MME, cutting it up and inking it, then attaching it to cardstock.  The paper lace border is from my stash...ages old but does the trick.  The Christmas tree was cut out on my Silhouette and then adorned with liquid pearls, while the presents are just some stickers from my scrapbooking days.  The sentiment, the tree and the image are all attached with foam tabs, giving it lots of dimension.

As I'm readying this post for tomorrow, listening to the wind blow.....I'm thinking that glass of wine is looking pretty tempting.....might be a good idea!

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe and warm!

Love is all around..

Good morning!  It's challenge time again at Charisma, and this week we are looking for cards with the theme of LOVE.   Be sure to check out all the beautiful creations from the rest of the DT, and hopefully we will get to see your projects too!

No romantic card from me today, instead a special card to show that I care, for someone I hold dear.

As you can see, I got inky this time with a number of Tim Holtz stamps.  The blue flourish design is stamped with paint, while for the bird I've stamped in black, adding some red to brighten things up.    The background shading is done with DI, with a bit of spatter stamped for added interest.

A bit of black decorative tape and some twine to give it some balance, and a couple of flowers to remind us that spring will soon be here. (Wishful thinking, I'm sure!)

We have two sponsors this week, with some wonderful prizes up for grabs.

PRIZE ONE
(with a £10 Voucher to their online shop)

 PRIZE TWO

February Blog Hop at Just Inklined

Good morning all!  It will probably be another cold and dreary winter's day, but we are going to try and brighten it up for you.  As it is the first Monday of the month, we have another blog hop at Just Inklined.  As I am the hostess this month, I get to choose the theme...and I've chosen the 'out of the box technique', a definite favourite of mine.  So, get yourselves comfortable and enjoy...as you follow along the hop.  Be sure to leave your comments along the way, for your chance to win one of the spot prizes.

It's hard to believe that we are already in February, but hopefully that means spring is just around the corner....and that will mean gardening.  For my card today I've used the Pot Pourri Garden image, and you will see that the apron extends outside of the die cut.  Once again I've coloured with copics, adding DI to all edges to give it a vintage feel.

Supplies used:
Papers from K&Company - Julianne collection
Spellbinders - Labels Twenty Two die
Corner stamp from Stampotique

Well I do hope you enjoyed your visit, and now you need to head on over to Gaynor's blog, who is sure to have something special to share.  I've listed the hop order below, just in case you lose your way.  Enjoy!

Joyce (that's me), Gaynor, Karen J, Dawn, Tammy
