Musical Recital

We were so grateful to have Nanna and Bubba in attendance to the kids musical recital. They were so nice to fly all the way out here to attend. Especially when that took sacrificing sleeping in the airport in place of their comfy bed.

Both kids played really well and both had their songs memorized by heart. Truman didn't even take his music books. I also had a chance to play a song on the violin as well. I figured since there were 2 other adults playing, I might as well join in. I'm really proud of both my kids for their hard work which as obviously paid off. Tomorrow is Truman's last piano lessons until we get to Utah in July since his teacher is leaving town for the summer.

Truman and Chantel's class mate friends were so nice to attend the recital. Sweet Lila brought Chantel a bouquet of flowers and Jack brought Truman a game that he has loved playing every day ever since. It's a harry potter card game.

Here is a picture of Truman and his awesome teacher, Tara Kerr. She has been so perfect for him and really helped him to expand his knowledge in music theory and piano playing.

Our home teacher, Jason Bond as well as other friends were so nice to attend. Didn't get a picture of everyone, but these friends include - Jane Landers, Brent Thurgood, Lyndi, and Mike Matthews.

We were so glad to have Nanna and Bubba stay an extra day then they had planned. Lila got lots of cuddles from both of them.

Welcome Home Lila!!!

It's been so great having Lila home for the past week and a half. She was in the Nicu for exactly 4 weeks, twice as long as we were expecting. On Wednesday May 11th she had a brady during the 12:00 noon feeding, but the nurse that was in that day was so guaranteed that she was going home soon that she pretty much prepped me for taking her home soon. I took the CPR class and all the other required things. During my visit on Friday, the doctors had talked about having her discharged the next day, as if they were guaranteed she would't have another brady. I made a couple phone calls to the Nicu that evening and the next morning to double check that she hadn't had another one and sure enough it was for real this time. I arrived at the hospital Saturday morning with her car seat and she easily passed the 90 min car seat inspection. :) The best part of was the nurse unhooked her from the monitors. It was then just waiting around for the doctors paper work before leaving that took a while. We were able to borrow a friends car and Mark drove the kids over to the hospital after Truman's soccer game that afternoon.

They were so excited about meeting Lila for their first time! Mark got a really cute video of their reaction.

I stayed home with her Sunday while Mark took the kids to church. I couldn't help get carried away with photos shoots.

Day 2 at home - Sunday May 15, 2016

Many people ask me if it's been a hard transition having her home? The answer is no. She still sleeps for the majority of the day and night and it's hard not to spend hours a day cuddling with her as well as practicing on my new born photos shoots.
It's so much more relaxing having her in my arms then trekking back and forth to the hospital every day.

Spring Break + Chantel's Violin Recital

Chantel decided to decorate our walls with her beautiful art work. It's hard to take it down when she put so much effort into her interior designing. Some of the drawings are of Lila so perhaps it's her way of creating welcome home signs to Lila when that day does come. She is quite our little artist.

Jane was so great to take the kids out for fun activities during spring break. Most days the weather was pretty nice for the most part. It's now hard to see how drastic the weather has gotten colder this past week. The temperature was so perfect the week after my discharge. I still enjoy being outside to take in the fresh air. Just wishing this fresh air was a little warmer.

They really enjoyed walking her dog along with her friends dog.

Truman's class has had quite a lot of field trips this year. This picture is from a trip to the transit museum.

This is Chantel's friend named Lila!!! :)

Jack, Truman, Chantel, Lila. Siblings that happen to be in the same class at school and I'm so glad that Jane gets along so well with their Nannie, Nika. They have been having weekly playdates for a while and are the type of friends that are a great influence to my children. Their parents are so sweet and ended up spending over $100 on a dinner for the family while I was in the hospital.

Chantel had her violin recital on Sunday May 1st. I was very impressed by how well she played. The first time she watched the recording of her playing, she was able to point out her mistakes right away. That is always a good sign! :) She received numerous compliments at the end by other parents. Our home teacher, Jason Bond was also so nice to come and watch her.  We are so glad that Nanna could be there to watch her. I should have taken a picture with Nanna.

I'm honored to be what you could call  a susuki mother for Chantel and have really enjoyed learning along with her. This is a picture of her and her teacher, Harmonnia. I take lessons every other week and Chantel takes them every week. We love have Harmonnia as our teacher. She is so great!!!

Also, thanks to Harmonnia, Chantel will be playing in Carnegie Hall next month on June 11th.
