I live in a pastoral country setting;a small hobby farm surrounded by many beloved (and spoiled )creatures.I am a working artist influenced by my rural backdrop and creating diligently and enthusiastically out of my haunted historical studio in Owen Sound Ontario. I am drawn to our collective histories and an imaginary world of those who walked before us. I am a collector of ephemera, memories and rich discards ..Certainly treasures to be refashioned into new art.My background is editorial illustration and I am a visual storyteller. Rescuer of stray memories and strands of past lives. I believe in the transformational and healing qualities of art. It should always be joyful and full of many layers.
Distillery district Burrito Boys..oh so yummy fare..I happened upon this little treasure of a restaurant by chance..what a find! gorgeous blown glass distillery building.fine architecture!
OCAD grad exhibit..the building has changed substantially from my 70's years there A weekend visit to Toronto was stimulating and inspirational..It is important to step out of my comfortable little world now and then and explore ..On foot or transit all weekend gave me my experiences up close ..and I felt quite positive about my encounters with people and the youthful creative energy of Queen West and the wonderful art village called the Distillery District..Thanks to an artist friend from Toronto..I was able to partake in her Cafe Society art group..tour distillery galleries and enjoy a yummy meal/and satisfying conversation in the Mill street brewery there with a group of like/art minded people ..The beer was exceptionally good on a sunny afternoon..and the company was warm and envigorating..later an art opening of one of the Cafe artists downtown on Queen West added another layer of experience to the day ..more good chat..and then when the music level climbed higher to ear shattering decibels we bid farewell to the night....
