Five down FIFTEEN to go!!

(ROFL) At least I got the tough ones out of the way. Yup, the spa kits are hardest ones to do...it has to do with all the laminating - box, jars, lids. Punches and scissors do NOT like laminate adhesive! OY! But, boy, don't they turn out pretty when they're done?!? These five are going to a sweet lady that works with DH. I'm off to work on her ice cream sundae kits now - pix will post just as soon as I get 'em done.

Happy National Boss's Day!

Okay, so I'm a day early, but it's been on my mind for the last five days, and I thought I'd toss it out there. Why have I been thinking about it? Well, I did a quick job for the sweet gals in the front offices at North Davis Prep (where my boys all go to school) and just delivered the product today. Here's what I made:

a spa kit

a sundae topping kit

and the toughie...a clipboard message center. YES, it was tough! All of the images that I could find for the St Louis Rams online are in low-res crappy Vector imaging, so I couldn't blow them up big enough without distortion. I managed to grab ONE (thanks Wikipedia) and got it big enough for me to be able to paint it over to the board. Not too shabby, huh?

It was a difficult project to paint, but I haven't picked up a paintbrush in so long, that it made for a nice break from all the paper play that I've been into for the last 6 months. Well, that's it for me today. I have some other challenges that I've got to get started on now ~~ never a dull moment!

Been away too long

I spent the last 2 weeks just going crazy ~~ we had DH's son from a previous marriage up from Texas for a visit at the first of this month for a few days. It was great to see him, because he's turning out to be such a fine young man, but the time was too short. There was a whisper of him possibly moving up here with his work, so we'll see what transpires...

I did manage to get some crafting done ~ I made a spa kit for my "new mommy" next door. If you've never seen my spa kits, they're really lots of fun. I take the 4-pack from Starbuck's Frappuccino (vanilla, mocha, peppermint mocha) after they're emptied, clean them up really well, then fill the bottles with bath time yummies ~~ one bottle holds Hershey's kisses in a few different flavors, one bottle contains bath salts, and the other 2 bottles hold foaming bath beads by Vaseline or Calgon. I then make some pretty covers for the lids, and laminate some of the fabulous papers that I've collected to wrap around the outsides of the boxes. I finish with some coordinating labels on the bottles, and VOILA! Instant giftie that has been getting rave reviews since I started making them last winter. I have a very dear friend with a birthday in the next week, I'm getting ready to host another swap of my own, AND I'm working on a "Bosses Day" order for some of the gals at school that has to deliver by the 15th (no school here Thursday & Friday for UEA). Lots to do, lots to do! I promise that I'll share pix just as soon as they're done.
