summer lovin'

Good morning! Today at Crafts 4 Eternity we have a sketch challenge.

Papers: SEI Bridgeport.

I've used a Prima tag, covered it with paper and embossed it with frantage. I've decorated it with a ticket and the hearts die cut from the banner and I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the paper.

I paper pieced the Prima Doll Kate and coloured her flesh with copics.

The banner is a La La Land Heart Banner die.

I've added a wooden fence each side, which I've embossed with frantage. Then I cut out a butterfly and die cut some flowers and ferns.

Thank you for looking.

it's a party!

Good morning! What on earth happened to the weather?! Crazy huh?!

Today we have a tic tac toe recipe over at Crafts 4 Eternity. Just choose any three items in a row, up, down or diagonal. I have chosen pink, three of something and bling.

Well the pink is obvious!

Papers: S.E.I. ~ Mimosa. I've had these forever! They have a glittery sheen to them.

My three of something are my three layered diecuts. I have used Spellbinders ~ Grand Decorative Ovals One and Gold Labels Four.

Image: Magnolia ~ Happy New Year Tilda.

Thank you for looking.

white woods

Hello everyone,

Today at Crafts 4 Eternity we have an embellishment bingo recipe. I have used: snowflake, bling and doily. In fact as you can see, I've used quite a lot of bling!

Paper: S.E.I. ~ Glitzmas: Frosty the Snowflake.

I made my trees using the Magnolia ~ Spruce die, inked up the edges and added some bling.

Image: Magnolia ~ Midwinter Tilda with Lantern. I coloured her with copics and added some stickles.

The square diecuts were made using Spellbinders ~ Fleur de lis squares.

There should be four little pearls on the mat, but one pinged off as I was trying to put it on and after a brief search, realised that there was little hope of finding it!

I've used Tim Holtz Sizzix ~ Snow Flurries die across the top ...

... and some Webster's Pages ~ Botanical Christmas Gems across the bottom.

I am going to enter this in at the following challenges:
Thank you for looking.

Happy New Year 2011 Calendar

Happy New Year to one and all, I wish each of you everything that you would wish for yourselves this year.

Today  I am showing you a calendar album that I made for 2011 using  papers from the S.E.I. Poppy collection.

I was going to make a few calendars to give away as gifts, but this one took me forever to make! There was a lot of machine stitching on this and I can't just run over the first and last stitches and then snip the thread, no, I have to leave long threads at each end and then weave them through neatly onto the back of the card by hand. I HAD to do this in sewing classes years ago when I was at school and I'm afraid the habit has stuck and I couldn't bear to do it any other way now! Sad, I know.

I won't bore you with photos of all the pages, as they are all similar, just with different patterned papers from the same collection.

I designed it to be freestanding and it is bulky enough that it can be.

Each month has got its own pocket page. On the front of the pocket is that month's calendar which I computer generated and then cut out with nesties, before spraying with shimmer mists. The back of the pocket is patterned paper and the idea is that a photo could be added to this as a reminder of some event that took place that month.

In each pocket I've just put a simple white cardstock tag with a co-ordinating patterned paper eyelet on each side and tied with a sheer ribbon. Each side of the card is stamped with the relevant month. The idea is to use the tag as a diary or calendar of events or to add photos from the month.

I've used extra large binding rings so that extra memories can be added between the pages as the year progresses, such as photos, memorabilia etc.

I'm going to pop this into the following challenges:

'brand spanking new': My Time To Craft.
'anything but a card': PaperPlay Challenges.
'new beginnings': One Stop Craft Challenge and Lots To Do.

Thank you for looking.

butterfly box: Day 1 ~ Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas 2010

Finally I get to show you by contribution to Day 1 of Tim Holtz' 12 tags of Christmas. Click the link to go to Tim's instructions.

I got a little carried away with my piece, because having made the tag I wondered what I could do with it, as it was a bit too cumbersome and delicate to be dangling around as a tag, so I decided to make a box and use it as a lid topper. The whole thing took ... FOREVER ... which is now why I am so far behind with the rest of my tags.

For the box I used the Sizzix ~ Box & Lid Bigz Pro Die and I cut the box with chipboard and painted all of the edges with white paint, before adding the paper layers.

The main paper is S.E.I. ~ Jolie Chocolat: Framboise. Luckily I had three sheets of this and only had a few scraps left by the time I'd finished!

I don't have the rickety house die used by Tim, so I used my Sizzix ~ Haunted House Bigz Die so ended up with a pretty large house! The distress ink that I used on it was Spun Sugar and Black Soot. I thought this was a fab method and a great use of the Notebook embossing folder. I want to see more use of these folders!

For the sparkly stuff I used Cosmic Shimmer ~ Glitter Jewels. I didn't really see the point of painting these areas with crackle paint first, only then to be covered up, I think there are cheaper and quicker ways of adding texture beneath the sparkle.

For the tag I used Spun Sugar mixed with glimmer mist and inked some Pink Paislee ~ Butterflies with Red Lipstick Distress Ink.

The lacey flower is Prima.

For the fence I used Sizzix Tim Holtz ~ On the Fence die. I painted it first with pink paint dabber so that it would show through the cracks of the white crackle paint.

The flowers peeking over the top are from Hobbycraft.

And just to prove I really did do this properly, here is the inside of the box.

I am going to pop this in at the following challenges:

'Treat boxes & goodie bags': Creative Card Crew.
'Anything but a card': Fussy & Fancy Friday.

Thank you for looking.

Magnolia Chef Tilda with Acrylic Cover

It seems an age since I used a Tilda, so she is feeling sadly neglected in my stamp box! I am entering this into seven challenges.

I am using this week's fabulolus sketch at Sketch & Stash, combined with my new stamps and very old and not-before used papers.

My colour inspiration has come from the blues, greens and whites in the picture at the Stamp With Us colour challenge.

The Everybody Art Challenge requires us to use 'shapes or punches'- I have done both.

Creative Card Crew require us to use 'scallops' - these form part of the recipe tag.

At PaperPlay Challenges the challenge is to use your favourite embellishment - for me this is a clock and I have used one here.

At Just Magnolia the theme is 'bright and zingy'.

Finally, Daring Card Makers want to see something clear.

For the first layer I used a Zutter clear acrylic cover and stamped the Magnolia ~ Recipe Card stamp directly onto it.

For my image I used Magnolia ~ Chef Tilda and coloured her with my copics.

I then cut her out and stuck her onto the recipe card on the acrylic cover.

My patterned papers are all from the SEI ~ Poppy collection.

I stamped another recipe card out for the inside front cover and matched it up so that it lined up with the same image on the acrylic cover.

Here is a picture with the acrylic cover opened.

The clock is a chipboard clock by Heidi Swapp and the flower a rub-on by K&Co.

I have used my Round-it-all to round all the corners.

Thank you for looking.

fragile delight

My card today is for FIVE challenges.

I used this week's gorgeous sketch at Card Patterns.

At No Time To Stamp the challenge is 'sparkle' - I have used stickles on the wings.

Stamp With Us has the theme of 'a children's card'.

Stamp With Fun requires us to use 'shapes or punches' - I have used a border punch.

Finally, Creative Inspirations has a theme of 'stitching - real or faux' - I have done some machine stitching.

Here is my card:
All patterned papers used are from the S.E.I. ~ Chick-a-dee collection. I used chick-a-dee, anna's bananas and ga-ga.

I used a Fiskars border punch for the paper at the base of the card and threaded it with ribbon from my stash.

The image is Magnolia ~ Dreamy Tilda. She is one of my favourites. I coloured her with Copics and used Stickles for the wings.
I created a large layered flower with a mixture of silk, felt and paper flowers from my stash and used a Tim Holtz ~ Snap for the centre. The 'delight' tag is by Making Memories and I used Doodlebug crushed velvet brads to decorate.

The ribbons are a mixture of S.E.I ~ Chick-a-dee ribbons and left overs from my stash. The button brads are by Making Memories. The 'fragile' pin is a Tim Holtz ~ Trinket pin.
Finally I leave you with a pic of Henry ~ my 8 week old kitten.
Thank you for looking.

vacation snapshots

Firstly, I would just like to say a very BIG thank you, to all of you who visited my blog (and continue to do so) during the Duda Daze blog hop and took the time and trouble to leave me a comment. I very much appreciate each and every one of them. I am still in the process of returning the compliment and visiting your blogs, so if I haven't done so already, then I will visit in the next day or two. In the meantime, if you missed out on the hop you can follow it by checking out my posting below this one. I'm sure you will all agree that it was a really fun and enjoyable hop ~ there is so much awesome talent out there and I really enjoyed visiting you all.
On to today's posting where I am entering FIVE challenges.

I have used this week's sketch over at Sketch Saturday.

Both the ABC Challenge and Just Magnolia Challenge have a theme of 'Summer'.

The challenge at Cute Card Thursday is to 'use a tag on your creation'.
Finally, the challenge at Lots to Do is 'to incorporate a piece of haberdashery' ~ I have used ribbon.

Here is my interpretation:

All patterned papers are from the S.E.I. ~ Dill Blossom collection and I used Coriander, Saffron and Marjoram.

The 'Snapshots' chipboard word is from the We R Memory Keepers ~ Hoopla collection. The 'vacation' tag is from Making Memories.
The image used is Magnolia ~ Khaki Tilda from the new Pets and Animals collection. As usual, I coloured her with my copics.
I created a little branch for her to sit on, which was cut from one of the S.E.I. papers. The bird is a rub-on from October Afternoon.
Photo anchors are by Papermania and brads are by Basic Grey.
For the scalloped edges I used an olive green velvet ribbon from Cosmo Cricket.

celebrate ... christmas

Christmas! Yes, that's right. The challenge this week at Dottie's World as set by Karen, is 'a Christmas project with a Charmed download'. Here is my card:

I am also entering this into:
A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge where the challenge is 'to use diecuts or punches' - I have used both.
The image I have used is Madison Goes to the Ball. Well it just so happens that this is a Christmas ball!
This card has a real glittery feel to it. The cardstock I used is S.E.I ~ Alpine Frost: dust of snow and if you zoom in on the picture you will be able to see the glittery snowflakes.
The collar of Madison's dress is dusted with glitter, as are her shoes and champagne. She even has a diamond (looking) choker! Madison is backed onto Doodlebug ~ Lily White sugar coated cardstock and the corners have been cut with a Fiskars corner punch.
The chipboard diecut 'Celebrate!' is by K&Co, I just raised it up on foam pads.
The flowers are by Prima and I added a glitter brad to the centre. The branches are made from the Doodlebug cardstock using my new Martha Stewart craft punch - a pressie from my friend Deb. Thank you very much!! I love my new punch!
