  1. Farmers Find Out As Migrants Refuse To Show Up For Work [Click] Aside from vegetables, fruit, eggs, dairy products, chicken, pork, and beef there shouldn’t be much of a problem for grocery shoppers, I suppose.

    1. Maybe Trump could order the military to harvest fruit and vegetables! And work in slaughterhouses!

  2. The oil crisis fuelled by Russia’s war is evaporating – and so are the profits [Click] “Results from Shell and Exxon this week will be weaker – and Trump’s desire to drill may result in oversupply.” Might we see Big Oil go the way of Big Coal, and sooner rather than later?

  3. “Fresno police won’t help Border Patrol or ICE agents with deportation raids, mayor says.”
That’s a bit of a surprise; he’s a pretty right-wing sort of guy, and the former Chief of Police. Fresno County Sheriff’s Office also says they are not, and will not be, participating in immigration enforcement.

  4. ANKA News: Widespread arson and demonstrations in Russia, notably among pensioners. [Click] I understand that pensions are not being indexed for the cost of living, and that pensioners have been one of the principal groups supporting Putin.

  5. I have continued to reflect on Drumpf's actions. He has made much of promoting tariffs, but he also seems to be dead set on restoring the Spoils System, which did not end well for its last presidential proponent, Mr. Garfield. The Civil Service Act, signed by Chester A. Arthur and subsequently made more and more pervasive, has worked well. I would place my maximum wager (the classic nickel nut bar, currently selling for about $2.25) on its continuation, despite all efforts to overthrow it. I suppose that the most generous of Mr. Drumpf's campaign donors expect a nice return on their investment, and one or more of them is capable of exacting payment in some form or another if disappointed.

    1. Current market price of gold is about $2,750 per troy ounce, compared to its standard value before 1932 of $20/toz. (2750/20) x 0.05 = $6.875, making said nickel nut bar a real bargain at a mere $2.25. Adjusting the price of gold to $32/toz makes a nickel worth $4.30.
