Aston Martin DB3S

This is a photograph I took at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1994.
It's three of the Aston Martin DB3S cars that competed in the Classic Car Sports Car Race and all have the 6-cylinder inline 2,922cc Lagonda engine.  Number 29 is the 1955 car of Hubert Fabri, one of the DB3S customer cars, chassis DB3S/102, and was originally one of three cars provided for Australian Tony Gaze's Kangaroo Stable. Next to it is the car driven by Sally Mason-Styrron in the race which is chassis DB3S/9, a 1956 Works car raced by the Aston Martin team in 1956 and 1957. At the end of the 1957 it was sold to Australian David McKay. The red car on the right is Valentine Lindsay's 1955 customer car, chassis DB3S/110.

1935 Aston Martin Ulster

This was one of the contestants in the Pre-War Sports Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 2000.
It's the 1935 Aston Martin Ulster of Belgian Hubert Fabri, who shared the driving in the race with Belgian/French Bertrand Gachot. Four Aston Martin Ulster team cars were produced in 1935 and also 21 replica customer cars, both the team and customer cars having a 4-cylinder inline 1,495cc engine. CMX 743 is one of the customer cars, originally in Prince Chula's White Mouse Stable and raced by Prince Bira.

1935 Aston Martin Ulster

This was one of the contestants in the Pre-War Sports Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
It's the 1935 Aston Martin Ulster of Belgian Hubert Fabri, who shared the driving in the race with Rowan Atkinson.

1957 Aston Martin DBR4

I took this photograph at Britten's chicane during the Hawthorn Memorial & Hawthorn Spanish Trophies Race at the Vintage Sports Car Club's meeting at Oulton Park in June 2006.
It's Hubert Fabri in his Aston Martin DBR4, a car that was first built and tested in 1957 although it didn't make its Grand Prix debut until 1959. By that time the new generation of rear-engined cars had made the older front-engined cars uncompetitive and the best results it managed were Roy Salvadori's sixth place finishes in the British and Portuguese Grands Prix in 1959. Originally powered by a 6-cylinder inline 2,493cc engine, Hubert Fabri's car had the same 6-cylinder inline 2,992cc engine as the DB3S sports car.

1955 Aston Martin DB3S

This car competed in the 1950s Sports Racing Cars race at the Vintage Sports Car Club's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in June 2008.
It's the 1955 Aston Martin DB3S of Hubert Fabri with the 6-cylinder inline 2,922cc Lagonda engine and body designed by Frank Feely. It's one of the DB3S customer cars, chassis DB3S/102, and was originally one of three cars provided for Australian Tony Gaze's Kangaroo Stable. Behind the Aston Martin is Benjamin Eastick's Jaguar D-Type, looking like a 1955 car but apparently created from D-Type parts in the 1970s and has chassis number XKD 133.

Aston Martin DB3S

This car took part in the 1950s Sports Racing Cars race at the VSCC's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in June 2008.
It's the 1955 Aston Martin DB3S of Hubert Fabri, an ex-Kangaroo Stable car and chassis DB3S/102. Designed by Willie Watson with body by Frank Feely it has the 2,922cc straight-6 Lagonda engine.

I've shown photographs of this car three times before, on 19 December 2012, 23 February 2016 and 22 August 2017.

The Flockhart Trophy Race

I took this photograph at Redgate corner on the first lap of the Flockhart Trophy Race at Donington Park at the VSCC's SeeRed meeting in June 2008.
Leading is Philip Walker in his 1959 2½ litre Lotus 16 from the 1957 2 litre Cooper T43 of Andrew Smith. Behind them is the 1958 3.8 litre Lister Jaguar Monza of Rod Jolley, and at the rear is Hubert Fabri's 1957 3 litre Aston Martin DBR4 just behind Ian Nuthall's 1952 2 litre Alta F2.

Aston Martin DBR4

Two of these cars, originally known as the Aston Martin DBR4/250, took part in the Flockhart Trophy Race at the VSCC's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2006.
This is the 1960 Aston Martin DBR4 of David Wenman, and was driven in the race by John Clark. Originally with a 2,493cc straight-6 engine, the programme of the event gave the capacity of this car as 2,892cc.
On 2 August 2017 I showed a photograph of David Wenman's car at Donington Park in September 2004.

This is Hubert Fabri's car and the programme gives the engine capacity as 2,992cc, the car being powered by an Aston Martin DB3S sportscar engine. On 7 May 2016 I showed a photograph of this car at Donington Park in June 2008.

Bugatti Type 35C

I photographed this car in the paddock at the VSCC's Richard Seaman Memorial Trophies meeting at Donington Park in June 2003.
It's Hubert Fabri's 1928 2 litre Straight-8 supercharged Bugatti T35C, chassis #4871. I always have trouble remembering the difference between the different types of pre-war Bugattis and I came across this list on an 8w.forix.com site that is a great help:

The T35C was a supercharged 2-litre model equipped with a Roots compressor to give some 125 bhp. Here is a list of the various Bugatti variants:

The original 1924 model:                                  Type 35: 60*88 mm = 1991cc
The 1925-'26 model:                                         Type 35: 52*88 mm = 1495cc
The voiturette model:                                        Type 35: 51.3*66 mm = 1091cc
The detuned production model, the "Tecla":     Type 35A: 60*88 mm = 1991cc
The long stroke 2.3 litre 'Targa Florio' model:   Type 35T: 60*100 mm = 2262cc
The supercharged variant of the 35T model:    Type 35B: 60*100 mm = 2262cc supercharged
The 2-litre supercharged model:                       Type 35C: 60*88 mm = 1991cc supercharged
The 4-cylinder engine model:                            Type 37: 69*100 mm = 1496cc 4 cylinder
The supercharged variant of 4-cylinder T37:    Type 37A: 69*100 mm = 1496cc supercharged
The short-stroke model:                                    Type 39: 60*66 mm = 1493cc
The supercharged variant of T39:                     Type 39A: 60*66 mm = 1493cc supercharged
The d.o.c. 2 valves/cyl model:                           Type 51: 60*88 mm = 1991cc supercharged
The long-stroke variant of the d.o.c. T51:         Type 51-1: 60*100 mm = 2262cc supercharged
The short-stroke variant of the d.o.c. T51:        Type 51A: 60*66 mm = 1493cc supercharged

(All with 8-cylinder engines unless noted otherwise)

On 8 June 2017 I showed a photograph of this car at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in 2004.

Aston Martin DB3S

I photographed this car at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1993 waiting in the paddock to go onto the track to take part in a practice session.
It's Hubert Fabri's 3-litre straight-6 1955 Aston Martin DB3S. Starting in 1953, ten cars were built for the works Aston Martin team and growing demand for a production version caused Aston Martin to build a series of 'customer' cars starting in 1955. OXE 472 was one of three customer cars delivered to Australian Tony Gaze's Kangaroo Stable in that year and is chassis DB3S/102 (the other two were DB3S/103 & DB3S/104 and were registered as OXE 473 & OXE 474). DB3S/104 was sold by Sotheby's in 2009 and here is their description of Lot 562 at that auction.

Bugatti Type 35C

This car took part in the VSCC's Boulogne Trophy Race at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in June 2004.
It's Hubert Fabri's 1928 Bugatti Type 35C with a supercharged 2 litre straight-eight engine, and is chassis number 4871.

Aston Martin DBR4/250

This car took part in the Flockhart Trophy Race for 1950s single-seat cars at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in June 2008.
It's Hubert Fabri's 1957 Aston Martin DBR4/250, but subsequently known just as a DBR4, a Grand Prix car built in 1957 although it didn't make its debut in Grand Prix racing until 1959. The programme of the event shows its engine capacity to be 2992cc, which suggests that it's from an Aston Martin DB3S.

Kurtis 500S

I photographed this car at the VSCC's Boulogne and Hawthorn Trophies Race Meeting at Oulton Park in June 2006.
It's a 1954 Kurtis 500 S and was entered in the 50's Sports Car Race by Christopher Keen
Here's Christopher Keen during the race at Britten's chicane, followed by the Aston Martin DB3S of Hubert Fabri.

Aston Martin DB3S

Here are photographs of three different Aston Martin (or Astin Martin as Jeremy Clarkson would say) DB3S models at the Aston Martin Owners Club Autumn Historic Car Races at Oulton Park in September 1993.
The 1956 DB3S of Hubert Fabri in the paddock

The same car during Race 3 at Foulston's Chicane

Tony Smith's 1955 DB3S (No. 80) and Simon Draper's 1954 model (63 EMU)

The same two cars at Foulston's Chicane. Both cars have the front-end bodywork modifications which were made to the works cars in 1956 prior to the introduction of the DBR1.
