Guernsey, December 2016

We paid our annual December visit to Guernsey recently to see our grandchildren and to deliver Christmas presents and presents for Edward's birthday. With the short days of winter there wasn't the opportunity to take many photographs, but here are a few that we managed to get.
On the Friday it was Eliza's swimming lesson at the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, after which she wanted to go on the outdoor playground, on the slide.....
.....and on the swings.....
.....and on what I believe is called a 'spring rider'.
Grandma keeping the children entertained the following day at home.
Edward briefly played outside on the swing.
Sunday lunch at the Copenhagen Bar & Grill at the Best Western Hotel de Havelet and Edward and Eliza commandeered Grandpa's iPhone.
On the Sunday we watched Edward unwrap an early birthday present from Grandma and Grandad.....
.....it was a camera and Edward and Daddy had to familiarise themselves with the controls. They soon knew a lot more about it than Grandad did.
On the Monday morning Grandma and Grandad looked after Eliza, and we went for a look at the Christmas display at Le Friquet Garden Centre where Eliza had to go on the big train there to ring the bell.....
.....and then watch the little train go round the big Christmas tree. This brought back memories of being taken to Wiles toyshop, next to Lewis's in Manchester, at Christmas when I was not much older than Eliza is now.
Afterwards another go on the slide in the play area at the garden centre.
In the afternoon daddy took us to the airport to catch the plane back home and here he is with Edward and Eliza at the airport.

Guernsey, February 2016

We spent another week in Guernsey recently and looked after our grandchildren Edward and Eliza on a couple of those days. Edward is only 3 years old and is already competent with iPhones, iPads and what have you, and it looks as if Eliza will soon be following in his footsteps.....
On the Wednesday morning we played with the Play-Doh.....
.....both Edward.....
..... and Eliza,
Then in the afternoon we went to the park.....
.....but by the time we got there they had both fallen asleep......
.....but Edward woke up in time to throw the remains of his lunchtime sandwich (ie the crusts) to the ducks.....
.....and even managed to take a photo of a couple of the ducks (though I had to straighten the picture up a bit so it didn't look as if it'd been taken on the side of a hill).

On the Thursday morning it was again a bit chilly.....
.....but Eliza took me into the garden so she could go in the play house. and later Edward once again got hold of Beryl's camera.....
......to take this 'selfie'.

Later we went to Le Friquet Garden Centre.....
.....where Eliza slept while Edward ate his lunch.....
.....then Edward went in the play area while Eliza ate hers.

On the Friday we went to the 'Bricks in Motion' Lego exhibition at the Guernsey Museum at Candie and here are a couple of the models that were on display.

On the Sunday before we came home we went to Crabby Jack's for lunch.....
.....but Eliza wasn't too happy when this giant crab turned up.....
(.....and is Anna's bottom lip quivering here?)

When we were at the Candie Museum on the Friday Edward seemed to like the sound of his footsteps on the wooden floor in one of the rooms. Here's a little video I took.

Guernsey, October 2015

Another short visit to Guernsey last week to see our grandchildren.....
.....Edward.....
.....and Eliza.

One of the highlights of our stay was a trip on the ferry to the island of Herm, about three miles to the east of Guernsey.
We had a walk round the island.....
.....and a look round the souvenir shop.....
.....Edward threw lots of pebbles (and bigger rocks) into the sea.....
.....and Eliza had a walk on the beach.
The lower deck of the ferry was almost deserted on the return trip to St Peter Port.

Guernsey is a popular stopping-off point for cruise liners and that day saw the last visitor of the 2015 season - the P&O Cruises liner 'Arcadia'.

On the Sunday we had a meal at Le Friquet Garden Centre and afterwards Edward had a great time in the outdoor play area.

And Eliza joined him later on the slide.

When we got back home Edward had to show us their sandpit.

Eliza now takes great delight now in feeding herself.

Guernsey, December 2014

It was grandson Edward's second birthday in December so we were off to Guernsey again, this time accompanied by his uncle David who had come over from the USA to join us.
Here's Edward blowing out the candles on his birthday cake with mummy
And here's granddaughter Eliza with grandma and getting to know her uncle David
Eliza's nearly five months old now
Here's Edward with his new bicycle

We got to see the Christmas decorations in St Peter Port......
....... at the Weighbridge Roundabout......
......in front of the Town Church......
......and in the Market Square.
Here's Edward at Le Friquet Garden Centre with grandma's camera - he tends to grab any cameras left unattended and start pressing all the buttons......
......this is a photograph he took of grandma's handbag.
Edward loves his little sister and is always trying to give her 'cuggles'......
......which probably accounts for the look on her face in this photograph.
