Porsche Carrera 6

This car competed in the Pre-1972 Le Mans Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1998.
It's the 1,991cc flat-6 1966 Porsche Carrera 6 of Julian Majzub, also known as the Porsche 906. The earlier Porsche 904 with a flat-4 1,966 engine was too heavy and underpowered to compete with the Ferrari Dino 206 SP so the 906 was designed with a lighter chassis and body, and the six-cylinder engine was also lighter as well as being more powerful. These new cars took Porsche to 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places in the Le Mans 24 Hour race behind three Ford GT40 Mk II cars with engines 3½ times their size.

I've featured the Carrera 6 four times previously, on 24 February 2015, 26 October 2015, 2 May 2017 and 10 January 2018.

Porsche 906

This car competed in the Coys of Kensington 80th Anniversary Trophy for Pre-1972 Le Mans Cars race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
This is the 1966 Porsche 906, also known as the Carrera 6, of Irvine Laidlaw and was driven in the race by Andrew Kirkaldy. The 906 has a flat-6 1,991cc engine and was introduced by Porsche in 1966 to replace the Porsche 904 which had a flat-4 1,966cc engine. The extra power of the new car was needed to compete with the Ferrari Dino 206 SP in the 2 litre class of racing.

I've shown photographs previously of the Porsche 906 on 24 February 2015, 26 October 2015 and 2 May 2017.

Porsche 906

This car competed in the Visage Pre '72 Le Mans Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in August 1996.
It's Ivan Scotti's 1966 2-litre Porsche 906, and the programme of the event said this about the 906:

The Porsche 906 was the first product of the company's new Research & Development man, Ferdinand Piƫch. A tubular-framed car, also known as the Carrera 6, it was raced to numerous Group 4 successes in the mid-1960s and developed into an equally successful Group 6 racing version, the 910.

I've featured the Porsche 906 twice before, on 24 February 2015 and 26 October 2015.

Porsche 906 Carrera

This car was in the paddock at the Donington International Historic Grand Prix meeting organised by the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association at Donington Park in May 2004.
It's a 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6, and as far as I know it didn't take part in any of the races at the meeting. On 24 February 2015 I featured one of these cars that took part in the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
