A few months ago our cable went digital and we didn't so we lost all our fun channels. We kept our basic cable, but that's all. No more Playhouse Disney. That was the biggest blow. The kids make do with PBS Kids, but it's not quite the same. We watch episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse online sometimes, and rent Little Einsteins DVD's from the library. Well, our newest discovery and favorite thing to watch is the original series of Inspector Gadget on hulu. The kids both love it and Davin is hilarious when he quotes it. I took a video of him singing the theme song and quoting Dr. Claw, but it is having issues loading. Sorry.
In other media news . . . I am sad that So You Think You Can Dance is over and none of my Fall shows are back yet. Except White Collar. That's the only show I have right now. Most of them will return in September. I guess I will have to settle for finishing up Psych Season 4. I am also waiting (somewhat impatiently) for it to be my turn to read Mockingjay. As of 5 minutes ago I was #502 on the library waiting list and the status of my hold said "in transit." I am keeping my fingers crossed that that means I will get it by the end of the day. If so, I fully intend to neglect the house, probably the kids (well you know, except for necessities), and sleep for about 48 hours while I read it. I hope it lives up to my expectations!

That's awesome that the boys are enjoying Inspector Gadget. Hopefully that video will load sometime.
Have you tried getting a digital converter box? They're not that expensive. Or are you purposely not wanting the digital channels? We're considering not getting cable when we move to Utah. We watch videos most of the time and the shows I like come on too late here so I never watch anything anymore. It could save us a lot of money!

I was just visiting the Sonia Stone (she had surgery) and she had a copy of Mockingjay and was telling me all about the series. I may have to borrow her books next if they are that good. What am I talking about. . .school has started back?? I'll just read them when they come out in paperback with the movies ;-)

I love Inspector Gadget! Way to introduce the classics to your kids! As for Mockingjay, I have no idea when I'm really going to get it. Next time, I'm buying it at the store instead of pre-ordering!
Old school cartoons are the greatest! My boys also like the 1980's Transformers cartoons we get from Netflix.
I'm also a White Collar fan! Surprisingly, I'm a little tired of Psyche this season. Sean's sense of humor is getting old I think. Modern family is another hulu favorite of mine...so irreverent, but it makes me laugh out loud every time :)
@Cami—it's a little more complicated than that. I assume I have the same cable as Shannon, because we had the same switch a few months ago. I called them about it. They claimed it was a "digital switch," but really, they were just changing their packages so their least expensive package lost 50 channels. Want the old channel selection? Pay three times as much.
I was so mad when they did this. A month later we switched to satellite.
I totally ignored Juliet all day yesterday so I could read straight through Mockingjay!

I miss cable sometimes but then i am grateful for a reason to do something else because nothing good is on. Except when I am pregnant though. I would rather watch TV all day when I am prego. So I feel for you!

Mockingjay- I signed up for the free trial of Amazon prime (you get free 2-day shipping with no minimum order on thousands of items, and the free trial is for like 3 months! Great for Christmas shopping btw) so we sprung for Mockingjay since Tiffany bought Justin the first 2 books for his birthday. I got it for $8.45 and free 2-day shipping... tempting?? :) Or you can borrow ours when we're done!
I just read The HUnger Gasmes in Maui. Now I am on book 2. I think I am going to host our relief society book club in October and choose that book. My family is all obsessed with it. Funny thing is my mom came home last night with Mockingjay. She got it for $12 at Target and she said there were a bunch of copies. I think the Utahans have a bigger obsession with it. I am 10 chapters in to Catching Fire. Still not sure if I am a Peeta or Gale fan for Katniss. I switch back and forth.:>
