Tonight we put together our magical Christmas fireplace. I love doing this! It's such a fun way to hang our stockings. It makes it seem more plausible that Santa can come visit us too if we have a fireplace, even a pretend one. This year Davin kept calling it a "fire station." It was adorable. The orange sparks in the fire were Weston's idea. Ian did most of the legwork though. We will be adding a 5th stocking to the "mantle" soon, but I haven't put baby's name on her stocking yet and we didn't want to pound nails into the wall since the boys were already asleep when we got it finished and put up.
Also, just for fun, here are a couple not-so-great shots of the nursery coming along. You can see the pink valence that my MIL made. There will be light blocking chocolate brown panel curtains hanging under the valence when we are done. You can also see the cute changing pad cover that I love and the teensy weensy lamp that I'm not sure I love. It's still wrapped up because I keep thinking I'll have time to go browse Ross to look for a lamp I like better. We'll see if I ever make it there or if I just end up using the tiny lamp because it's there.
Finally, I have a massive grocery shopping list that I really need to take care of tomorrow, but I also have both kids home all day tomorrow. Still not sure what I'm going to do about that. Sigh. I might have to suck it up and go in the evening so I can focus and not forget too much stuff. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

i LOVE your fireplace! it is so cute!
great job on the nursery too!
Cute idea with the fireplace! And love the nursery!
Now that you posted it again, I remember you doing that fireplace last year but I had forgotten... I think I might copy you!! And I love the nursery. I use a regular floor lamp in the nursery and bought a dimmer switch for it. And I love your changing pad cover too--I have the exact same one.
Yay...the room is really coming together.
I think the tiny lamp would be great for middle of the night feedings. Not too much light but enough so you can see while you change a diaper.
I know what you mean about grocery shopping with kids. I ALWAYS forget at least one thing. Well...it seems that way. And while you are pregnant with your kids with you it is worse. :)
Yea for nursery pics!!! It's so sweet with the pink in the crib and on the window, but the brown will be a nice contrast and add some depth to the room too. I think the tiny lamp is sweet too; a tiny lamp for a tiny baby Bowles!
And I always love your Christmas fireplace. It turns out so cute every time! And I'm kinda jealous that you and Ian have stockings...I might have to get a couple more for me and Jim. We'll see. Love ya lots, have a good weekend!
The fireplace always turns out great! I'm impressed that you have a stocking waiting for baby girl. Poor Zander STILL doesn't have one. Nobody carries the stockings that the rest of us have anymore and I can't bring myself to buy all new stockings or one mismatched one. He's gonna notice this year so I'll have to do something!
The nursery is coming together so nicely! Pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations.
I love your yearly fireplace and your stockings. Maybe next year I'll actually get matching stockings with our names on them.
Aww the nursery is so darling!! Getting so excited!
The nursery is so cute transformed from boy to girl!! I REALLY can't wait to come see it. I was talking to Auntie B and I'm really ready to come to Utah and hold a tiny baby. I'm ready to hug those cute boys and play with them and see just how slow Davin is about putting away the toys!! I've got to see it for myself! Over the phone it still sounds cute ;-)
Love love love the fireplace! Fireplaces aren't big here, so I may use your idea when we have kids! I love the nursery. I love that you didn't over-do the pink either (like some moms I know). It looks very cute!
Hey so I had to come and reply to your comment on my blog. :)
I wish I had known that crown was too big for Weston, I have an extra knight helmet that he could have had. :( And yes, he was indeed our first winner in the musical game. His face lit up so big. So cute. And yes, sadly, my place settings for the boys were not nearly as cool as the girls. I actually looked at stuff for the boys, but somehow transformers, spiderman or Mickey Mouse didn't quite seem to fit the theme so I just went with plain ones. I wondered if they would have rather had princess cups b/c I had lots of extras. You'll have to ask him, I'm curious. :) Alright, well thanks again for bringing Weston and for the cute gifts for Kenz. I'm LOVING those pj's (she's sleeping in them now) and she already decorated her bank! I'll have to text you a picture.
