Unity blog Hop

Hi everyone, I am joining in today with the Unity group on their blog hop.

I am guest hopping because my Susan K. Weckesser inspired tag won the Unity {be inspired} Challenge using the What's Up Gnomey? stamp set! You can see it here. It was an awesome prize package too, I cannot wait to get it!!

I love their challenge because you get to choose what style inspires you to be creative. There is a color challenge ( my favorite ), a card and a layout sketch challenge. Really, something for everyone!

This is my card ♥

I was inspired by the beautiful colors and used the Susan K. Weckesser stamp One of a Kind Winter { Christmas Campaign } to create my card. I stamped him once on the Kraft paper and then again on a piece of white paper. I cut out his little body and adhered it over the top of the stamped image.

I also love doodling and added some whimsical borders of my own using my Sakura Pigma Microns and Signo white pen.

I love that the Sakura Moon Glow pens show up so well on top of black ink! I colored in the fringe of his scarf and hat and also the buttons in a bright pink. The rest of his hat and scarf were colored in with Dylusions inks using a water brush.

Make sure to leave lots of comments so that you can win an awesome hop prize from Unity Stamps!
I can't wait to hop along and see the awesome designs from the Unity team!

Guest Design - Die Cutting Divas

I want to thank all the Die Cuttin' Divas for letting be a guest diva!
I have the crown to wear too...::insert royal wave::

Here is my project for the challenge
Winter Fun

I love taking other elements from the cartridges and mixing them up together, like the snow cap from page 48 and putting it on the squirrel from page 57. This little guy is layered, inked and popped up for added dimension and the snowflake is glittered and bejeweled for some added snap!

I just love the huge anime sized eye he has too!

Frosted Designs Monday Inspiration - Embossing

Hi everyone, it's time for some Monday inspiration for the new Frosted Designs challenge!

Our sponsor for this challenge is
  Molossi
You can see what they have in store here,
They will be offering a 30.00 chipboard and bling pack to one lucky winner!!

I think wet embossing was one of my first techniques that I tried when I was first learning to scrapbook that both thrilled me and scared me, lol I can still remember my first failures at it, but unlike some things I use to do ages ago, ( like decorative scissors...ahem..) this is one that I still love to do. I still have my original heat gun too!

I used 2 different styles of embossing, the first one is dry embossing where I ran a piece of my gelli print paper through my big shot with a leaf texture plate and then cut the leaves out by hand. The second type of embossing was wet, I stamped the sentiment and drew my faux stitching lines with an embossing pen and then heat set it with powder.

Well, roasting smore's would make ME happy!
I did a small amount of masking so that the smore's branch would appear to be in his mouth and a little bit of paper piecing to give the marshmallows some dimension.

I started my card off with a piece a watercolor paper, spritzed it lightly with water and then gave it one good shot of ink spray, took a paper towel and dabbed away the outside edges leaving me with a focal point for the camp fire.

I was a little stumped at first with how to create the fire staying within the color parameters, because I wanted to add oranges and yellow to the flames. Then it hit me on the head like a bottle of V-8...paper piecing! So I stamped the image first on grey paper for the logs, then 4 more times for the flames. Cut out the flames and adhered them with LSD for dimension. I used the same pen to color them in, just layered the ink for different intensity levels.
The marsh mellows are paper pieced too, I wanted to make sure I had a piece of the cream white for the color scheme.

I printed the lady bug twice so I could give her more dimension, to look like she flew up there on the easel to paint some flowers that she likes. I figured since she is a lady bug she would paint black dots much like her own to decorate with.

Eclectic Paperie - E-Team Picks Challenge - Monochromatic

All the major work on this card was done on the background. I think sometimes I can get more wrapped up when creating my own paper than the actual design of the card itself. Anyhoo....I first used Broken China along with water, spritzing, and drying, but it still was too dark. So after I finally achieved what I hope for will pass as a sky, I let it thoroughly dry and then sprayed it with my Archrival Varnish and let that dry. Then, I went over the background with a white wash to soften it up somewhat. Stamping the image and sentiment was the easiest part. ;)

For anyone who thinks they cannot use digital stamps because they have the wrong kind of printer ( me ) ....this is what I do. I print out the image and use my light box to trace over it with a waterproof pen and then color the image in. Of course, this can be done best with a simple design, nothing too complicated.

I gave the background a light blue grey wash of color, then painted in the balloons. Next I laid my water color paper over the printed digital image and traced. I drew the image in 2 steps, the squirrel was first: angled a little bit, then tilted my paper back a little so the word hi would be a straighter. Next, I outlined the balloons...finis!

Craftin Desert Diva's - #5 Use a Pun

Did a little ombre coloring for type writer paper by first cover the it with water and then starting with red watercolor at the bottom and yellow at the top and blending the top down to the bottom. Then after it dried I ran it through the printer for the punny sentiment.

Love the colored typewriter keys! I used my box of Bruynzeel water color pencils to color in the top of each key, mixing the colors as I went along to get a color wheel type effect.

The typewriter was a clip art image that I printed out and since my ink from my printer is not compatible with water, I just went with the flow ( another pun, lol ) I used the ink to shade the typewriter, I think it turned out pretty cool.

Allie Gower from My Card Party made my day by making me this!
So that's the closest I'll ever get to having Ryan Goslin say my name!

She also made this FB header for my page too!

And she made my watermark..how do you like it?

I can't get over how easy it is to use!
I highly recommend her, she is extremely talented!

Cute Card Thursday - #265 Cakewalk
CARDZ TV - #28 Cute as a Button

Do you think a sticker has to stay in the way it was made? Or do you like to alter them? I buy sticker sheets for usually about ½ of them, and then have leftovers that use to drive me crazy because I felt I wasn't getting my moneys worth...now I love the left over stickers because I can play with them, change them up, alter them and it's fun!

Tip 'o the Day!
Here, I had used half of this sweet little glittered flower border and had a portion left over so I used my hole punch to remove those flowers and put them on the cupcake as sprinkles. And if you look at the tag itself, those cute little bees were all cute out from the sticker sheet. ( I do recommend placing the stickers on a piece of paper before cutting, makes it very easy then. ) That big Happy Birthday sticker is another one I changed up, it was too big for the tag so I removed an element and then ran a line of stickles around it to hide where it was cut off.
So, alter..or leave in your scrap pile in case you might need it one day...which way do you roll?
