All About the Girl

Happy Saturday,

Well, I managed week 7 of our 8 week half term, but it was a gruelling one - even the children have had enough now and are ready for a break. Just three and a half more days to go until my break begins. It's Science week at our school next week, so lots of interesting science lessons, activities, and assemblies for them to look forward to.

On a crafty note, it's time for our next challenge at Fantasy Stampers and the new theme for the next two weeks is

'ALL ABOUT THE GIRL'

Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I do love lots of different styles of crafting, but would say this one is most typically me!

I used one of my many LOTV stamps called 'Birthday Fairy' and stamped her in Sepia ink and coloured her with my Promarkers (with the addition of a little glitter on her wings).

The pretty design papers are from a new pad that fell in my basket whilst out shopping this morning and is called ' Floral Muse' from Dovecraft. All the papers are muted pastel tones of peaches, cream and mocha - they have a real vintage look to them (and only cost £4 for the whole pad!)

I added some ivory lace, a little die-cut banner, some paper roses and a few flat backed pearls. The two little stamped sentiment tags are also LOTV.

Why not pop over and check out some more 'girlie' inspiration over at the main challenge blog - would love to see you there.

Girl Power at Fantasy Stampers

Good morning,

I'm not liking the rain - where did all the sunshine go?

I would love you to come and join us over at my challenge blog 'FANTASY STAMPERS' where we have a brand new theme today.  For the next two weeks we would love to see your projects interpreting the theme
'GIRL POWER'

Here's what I decided on for my DT inspiration ...

I decided to take some of my more masculine stamps and turn them girlie. I have used Stampin' Up 'Clockworks' and 'Gorgeous Grunge', which I mostly use for my male themed cards and given them a touch of  'girl power'!

The little panels are stamped using the 'Clockworks' stamp set in Victorian Velvet, Peacock Feathers and Gathered Twigs distress inks. I then punched out the squares and mounted them on blue die-cut cardstock.

The background is stamped using the 'Gorgeous Grunge' set with the same distress inks. Then I added the pocket watch which is decoupaged. I also added some stamped 'Petite Petal' flowers and some die-cut butterflies to add to the girlie factor.

The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is also from the Stampin' Up 'Sassy Salutations' set. Needless to say this was made for a friend of mine that is a 'Stampin' Up demonstrator! Lol.

Here Come the Girls

Hi there everyone,

I'm back today with details of the next theme over at my own challenge blog at Fantasy Stampers. We had a terrific response to our Autumn Colours last time - so if you came and played along, thank you so much.

For the next two weeks we have a real easy theme - so I hope we will see you all again with your makes for our challenge

'HERE COME THE GIRLS'

We would love to see anything girlie - it can be any kind of project, it doesn't have to be a card. Although I did stick with the traditional for my DT inspiration this time - here's what I made ...

This has to be one of my favourite kind of cards to make - all pink and girly, and I made it using some of my favourite products with the Lily of the Valley monthly challenge in mind. Their theme is 'Pretty Papers' and they have some gorgeous ones too - I used three different patterns from the 'Always and Forever' pad (all pink, and all nice and girly too).

I made an 8x8" card all layered up with lots of different shapes, backed with a lovely co-orinating burgundy cardstock.  Each layer is inked around the edges using Victorian Velvet distress ink.

The main image is also LOTV - the 'Birthday Fairy' and she stamped twice, coloured with my Promarkers and layered to give a decoupage effect (although this doesn't show well in my photo).

I also used the LOTV postcard as part of my background layers and a little sentiment is stamped from their 'Everyday Grungy Sentiments'.

Extra embellies include a little die-cut bunting using scraps of the card and paper, a chipboard flower which I embossed with pink frantage powder, a piece of polkadot ribbon and a few aurora adhesive crystals.

Very much my usual design - now step away from the card Jan! Lol.

Right I'm off to go enter the challenge now. I hope you can come and play along with your own 'girly' makes - see you there.

Christmas for the Girls

Hi there everyone and Happy Halloween,

Wow! This is my fifth day in a row posting - never been done before! Lol. I am definitely liking being at home and trying not to think about next week back at work.

I have a little card to show you today, made for 'Lili's Little Fairies blog challenge' - the theme this week is to make a Christmas card for the Girls.  Well, what better reason to get all my purple stuff out then :)  Here's what I made ...

This one's a 6x6" card blank covered with some pretty lilac snowflake paper from the 'Snowman paper pack', which is mounted onto some lilac card..  I added a piece of lilac organza ribbon across the middle before adding my topper.  The stamped image is LOTV - Twinkling Star and is coloured with Lilac and Amethyst Promarkers.  I added some sparkle to the little stars and snow with a glitter gel pen. The image is mounted on a Fleur de Lys nestie cut from the same lilac card as the background mat.  I die-cut some snowflakes from a piece of scrap and added self adhesive gems/pearl to the centres and finished with a little Christmas sentiment.  A fairly simple little card, but the LOTV stamps never fail to impress every time I use them.

I would also like to enter this card into 'That Craft Place's' challenge which is 'Tic Tac Toe' and I chose the left hand side column - Gems/Sentiment/Ribbon.

Thanx for taking the time to have a peek and enjoy your day, whatever you're doing.
