Be Joyful

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

These are verses I memorized years ago and they are written on my heart. There are times when I still need to remember not to be anxious, but I eventually listen to my heart saying these verses. I didn't really understand what the "peace of God" was until I experienced it. It's having peace inside you, even when you're going through heartbreaking situations and trials. It does "surpass ALL understanding" and you know it comes from GOD alone. Praise the Lord for His wonderful promises!

I love, love, love what I do. I am passionate about the things I create and the talents God has placed in me. I SO appreciate the time you take to look at my things and the comments you all leave me!

Blessings to you!

Winter's Fireside Scene

Happy Wednesday!

I have another Christmas card to share with you this week using the new Winter's Eve Collection of stamps and dies.

This time I have used the cute fireside scene for the main image that I colored with pencils and minerals spirits.  I added the window die cut over it and added it to a white embossed mat.  The flower under the bow is from the Window Box Fillers Set that has a match die.

Be sure to visit the Heartfelt Creations' Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the design team!

I'm Submitting this to the following challenge:

Christmas Blessings Covered Notepad

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for more Heartfelt Creations' inspiration using their new Winter's Eve Collection!

This week I have a fun and simple project you can make for gift giving at Christmastime.

You can click on the image to get a better close-up view if you like.

The pink papers are from the Winter's Eve Paper Collection.  I used them for the mats and also to make the flowers.  The flowers were done with white embossing powder and shaped using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  Behind the flowers is the beautiful decorative die from the Window Box Elements Die Set.

Here's a little closeup of the flowers.

Here's a view of the inside of the pad.

Instructions: Covered notepad measures 2 5/8" x 8 1/4". Follow the instructions found here on Split Coast Stampers with the exception of the 2 pieces of pattern paper used to cover the front and inside of pad, I cut mine 2 3/8" x 8" instead. I used the pink designer paper from the Winter's Eve Paper Collection for these pieces, the piece to cover the top of the notepad and for the flowers. Distress the 2 mats before adhering to the front and inside covers.

To decorate the front cover, die cut the decorative die from the Window Box Elements Die Set using white cardstock. Run it through the Xyron Machine and adhere as pictured. Using VersaMark Ink on the pink designer paper, stamp the small flowers and leaves from the Ornate Sleigh Set twice and the large flowers and leaves from the Celebrate the Season Set twice, then heat emboss with white embossing powder. Die cut with the match dies from Celebrate the Season and Ornate Sleigh & Presents Dies. Shape the flowers and leaves with the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit, glue the flowers and leaves together and then glue the 2 larger flowers and 1 smaller flower to the pad as pictured.

Stamp the sentiment from the Winter's Eve Set on white cardstock with Onyx Black Ink and use the Large Oval Punch to cut it. Add to the pad using pop dots. Glue the remaining smaller flower as pictured. Add Minnie Pearl Prills to the flower centers using Designer Dries Clear Glue. Add Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers and leaves as desired.

Angel Tree

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for the new release for August!  This month we have another Christmas Collection called the Winter's Eve Collection.

Here is my first card for this new collection!

I love the little angel and tree scene.  I colored it with pencils and mineral spirits and popped in inside the window cut with the window die.  I added a window over it also colored with pencils and cut with it's matching die.  The beautiful medallions around the window are from the Window Box Elements Die set. I cut the larger one and added it on each side of the window.  You can see complete instructions for this at the end of my post if you would like them.

Festive Holly Christmas

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for a little inspiration with Heartfelt Creations!  This week I have another Christmas card using the new Festive Holly Collection of stamps, dies and designer papers.

I used one of the card panels for the background of the card die cutting the center with a circle die.  I then added white behind the opening with a sentiment stamped on it.

The holly images were all colored with pencils and mineral spirits using paper stumps, cut with the matching dies and then popped onto the card around the opening.  Fairly simple card to make, but comes out pretty and festive.

Cardinal Berry Christmas

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for the new collection from Heartfelt Creations! This time we have a Christmas collection for you called the Festive Holly Collection!

I LOVE cardinals so of course my first card is made with one of the beautiful cardinal images from the collection!

It's hard to see in the photo, but I love how the coloring came out on the image. I added white glue and white glitter to the "snow" on the branches which looks really pretty, but it's hard to see in the photo.

The red die cut is from the Festive Holiday Die. This is actually two pieces cut and glued together. This die is beautiful and will have lots of use I'm sure.

The background mat is designer paper from the collection. This is my favorite print from the paper!

Snowman Waving Hello

Happy Wednesday!

This week I have another Christmas/Winter card for you using the Snow Kissed Collection from Heartfelt Creations! This time I'm using the other snowman image from the Frolicking Frosty Set. Last week I used the skating snowman, this week I'm using the waving snowman.

This little guy is so cute! I colored him and the ornaments with pencils and mineral spirits. The image was stamped twice so I could add a second snowman over the image to "pop" it over the first. There is a matching die for the snowman.

The snowflakes were stamped with Nautical Blue Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I also added a little color to some areas of the snowflakes using a Dove Blender Pen and the blue ink. These all have matching dies so you can easily cut them out and add to your card. I used foam tape to add them giving them a little depth.

Be sure to visit the Heartfelt Creations Blog to what the talented ladies have come up with for you!

Merry Christmas Sleigh

Happy Wednesday!

I'm finally back with a post! So sorry to be absent lately! I've been on vacation and also busy working for Heartfelt Creations behind the scenes...keeping me busy:)

My card this week is from the new Celebrate the Season Collection released July 13th. I love the colors in this collection! There is something so calming about the teal and lavender colors together and I love that it's a little different from the typical red and green for Christmas.

I used the Celebrate the Season Paper Collection for the background mat and to cut the pre-printed sleigh. The other pieces, flowers, presents and mittens, were stamped on white cardstock and colored with Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits. All of these pieces, including the sleigh, have matching dies to cut them with which makes things so much easier!

Here's a little close up of the flowers for you.

Emma Lou has a wonderful video for you here to show you how to shape the poinsettia flowers and holly. She also shows you some great tips and techniques along with a complete look at the collection.

Sparkling Poinsettia Step by Step Coloring and Shaping Tutorial

Happy Friday!

I'm so excited today to have a tutorial I've written featured on the  Heartfelt Creations Blog.

This is the project I created for the tutorial.

I've been using this coloring technique for a while now and love the soft look it gives and how easy it is to do!

For my tutorial I'm using the Sparkling Poinsettia, but you can use almost any flower for this technique. Here's a little close-up of the beautiful poinsettia flower.

Now, for the tutorial!

Sparkling Poinsettia Step by Step Coloring and Shaping Tutorial

Step 1) Stamp flowers and leaves on Natural White Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel. Apply heat from underneath so that the little gold specks don’t blow away.

Note: Click on the photos to see a closer view.

Step 2) Using make-up applicators and chalk inks, color the flowers. Start with a light application of color from the center of the flower petal and fading to the outside of the petal. Depending on how “juicy” my ink pad is, I usually dab off a lot of the color on paper towel first so I can get a light application. You can always add more color, but you can't take it away. I'll then go back and add a little more color to create more of a shadow. You can see here how one petal is a little darker than the others.

Step 3) For the leaves, I apply the color down the center and fade to the outside. For the berry clusters, I apply a little bit of both colors.

Step 4) Die cut the flowers and leaves with the matching dies.

Step 5) Clip between the flower petals with scissors.

Step 6) Spritz lightly on backs of flowers, leaves and center clusters with water before shaping. (Note: do this process of spritzing and shaping one piece at a time.)

Step 7) Shape flower petals with curler tool by pressing the tool down the center of each petal on the embossing mat.

Step 8) Shape leaves down the center using your fingernail. (Or a stylus tool if you don’t have any!)

Step 9) Shape flower center cluster by cupping each on the back with a stylus tool, then turn over and press stylus tool in the center so the cluster pops up.

Step 10) This is how your flowers, leaves and clusters should look when done.

Step 11) Using Art Institute Glue Dries Clear, glue flower together offsetting petals. Glue leaves to back of flower.

Step 12) Cut Natural White cardstock 4 1/2” x 6”. Stamp sentiment on lower right using VersaMark Ink and heat embossing with Brown Sugar Embossing Powder.

Step 13) Die cut Decorative Lace Border with Natural White and glue to mat. It’s best to used the Metal Glue Tip with the glue although it’s not in the picture here.

Step 14) Add Jute Ribbon over die cut using Scor-Tape. Make a multi-loop bow with fibers using a bow making tool and add to mat using Aleenes Tacky Glue. Add mat to a 4 3/4” x 6 1/4” blue card base using Scotch Mounting tape.

(You can find a basic tutorial here on using the Bow-Easy Tool like did here if you need it. My bow was made wrapping it 9 times...I usually always make it an odd number. The thinner the ribbon/fiber is, the more times I will wrap it.)

Step 15) Add flower to card using Aleene's Tacky Glue.

Step 16) To decorate the inside of the card, cut a 4 1/2” x 6” mat with Natural White. Stamp the sentiment with VersaMark and heat emboss with Brown Sugar Embossing Powder. Using the Sparkling Poinsettia Swirl Set, stamp the poinsettia swirl on the top left with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss from underneath with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel. Color image with chalk inks using same method as you did with the flowers, leaves and clusters. Add mat to inside of card.

I'm submitting this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial! I love coloring with pencils, but it's a lot of work sometimes. This technique to so easy to do and I love how it comes out! Hope you like it too!

Blessings!

Kathy

Blue Sparkling Poinsettia

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for the release of the new Sparkling Poinsettia Collection from Heartfelt Creations!

Rediscover the majesty, serenity and pageantry of Christmas with Heartfelt Creations' Sparkling Poinsettia Collection. This glorious ensemble of stamps, dies and papers captures the stately splendor of Christmas with a regal color palette of burgundy, evergreen, taupe and cream. Radiant poinsettias take center stage amidst a host of traditional Nativity scenes, twinkling candles, drifting snowflakes, lacy flourishes, exuberant banners and Heartfelt greetings that are worthy of the King of Kings. Six detailed stamp sets echo the glorious images found in the paper collection and two coordinating die sets can be used to create sparkling poinsettias that will never wilt or fade. Chronicle sweet memories of the season, share holiday joy with family and friends, hail the holy babe born in the manger and deck the halls with Sparkling Poinsettia!

Here is my first card with this Christmas collection.

I used silver embossing powder on white cardstock for the background image and the additional flowers and leaves. Coloring was done with chalk inks and make-up applicators for a soft look. Here's a close-up of the flower for you.

Pink Poinsettia Ornament - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for a little inspiration from Heartfelt Creations!  This week I have a little Christmas ornament to show you!

In real life this is actually really pretty!  It's one of those projects that is just plain difficult to photo!  If you click on the photo itself, you can get a better view of it if you like.

The base of the ornament is made using the Raindrops on Roses Die. The flower is the Christmas Poinsettia done with white card stock, heat embossed with white powder and colored with chalk ink.  The full instructions are at the bottom of my post if you would like to try it out for Christmas gifts this year!

Be sure to visit the HC Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the designers this week!  There's also a sneak peek of the collection being released on Black Friday!

Other Products:

Paper: Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: VersaMark Watermark, Perfect Plumeria (VersaMagic)
Accessories: make-up applicator, 1/8" Scor-tape, metal charm, bead, spacer, 1/8" pink ribbon (Offray), White Seam Binding, Pearlized String Beads, Bow-Easy Tool (Really Reasonable Ribbon), Diamond Stickles (Ranger), glue gun, Bazzills Splat Mat, White Embossing Powder (Stampin Up), orange stick, adhesive pearls (Recollections), heat tool.

Instructions:

Using white card stock and the Raindrops on Roses Die, die cut 6 Lattice Pieces. Score each piece down center point to point of longer side and crease. Glue half piece at a time with another half using the glue and metal glue tip leaving last 2 side open. (Follow the same technique Emma Lou used in making the dimensional tree card here.) Cut a 16" piece of 1/8" pink ribbon. Thread ribbon through charm and then the bead spacer. Add strip of Scor-Tape down center of ornament where all the scored pieces meet. Lay the ribbon inside onto Scor-Tape to secure in place. Glue last two side together to form ornament. Cut approximately 10" piece of Pearlized String Beads, make loop and glue to top of ornament with glue gun. Make 5 loop bow with White Seam Binding and bow tool. Glue over beads where they cross each other using glue gun.

Stamp Christmas Poinsettia image on Solar White with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with White Embossing Powder. Die cut with Sun Kissed Fluer Die. Select 3 flowers (I used the 2nd, 4th, and 6th largest blooms) and color with Perfect Plumeria Ink and make up applicator. I shaped the flowers using the mat and pressing the end of an orange stick down the center of each petal and then using the Paper Blossoms tools to press in the center. Glue flowers together, offsetting petals, using Art Institute Glue. Add adhesive pearl to flower center and outline pearl with Diamond Stickles. Add flower to bow center using glue gun. Tie knot on top of pink ribbon for hanging ornament. Thread ribbon through metal bead and glue over knot to cover it.

Festive Candlelight - Heartfelt Creations

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for a little Heartfelt Creations inspiration!  I have another Christmas card for you this week, this time using the Festive Candlelight Set!

I stamped the image on white card stock and colored it with pencils and mineral spirits.  I stamped an extra image, colored only the flower and fussy cut it to add a little depth to the image.  I die cut the image using Labels 28 and die cut a mat from the designer papers using Decorative Labels 28. Here's a little close up of the image for you.

For the background mat, I used the beautiful Festive Christmas papers making sure to have the flowers on the papers in 2 of the corners.  To finish the card I used ribbons and adhesive pearls.

Ornate Poinsettia - CottageCutz

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry to say that today is my last project for The Scrapping Cottage as I have decided to step down from the design team.  I have been working part time (paid work!) from home doing administrative work the past few months and need to reduce my DT commitments for now.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with these beautiful CottageCutz Dies and these awesome ladies the past couple of years!

For my last project, I have a  Christmas card using the Ornate Poinsettia CottageCutz Die from The Scrapping Cottage.

This is a fairly simple card to put together!  I used a red card base with a white mat that I partially embossed and added a little sentiment and some ribbon.  I cut the Ornate Poinsettia with the red and green card stock, trimmed the flowers from the red and glued them on top of the green.  I then just added some Buttercup Liquid Pearls, snowflake button and a bow with a button on top.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration for Christmas cards this year!

This is the die I used:

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Short & Sweet (SU)
Paper: White (Recollections), Cherry Cobbler (SU), Rain Forest (Bazzills)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Snowflakes #8 Embossing Folder (Sizzix), Bow-Easy Tool, ribbon, button, floss (Michaels), Buttercup Liquid Pearls (Ranger)

I'm submitting this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #146 - Anything Goes.

Thank you for stopping by!

Blessings!
