Sea you! (new Lawn Fawn)

Hi there, and welcome back to another day of Lawn Fawn's December release!

Today is our showcase of Octopi my Heart. I couldn't help but bring in the starfish and jellyfish from So Jelly, as well as the school of fish from Mermaid For You to play supporting roles:

Sea you! (new Lawn Fawn)

I stamped, colored and cut out all of the elements and put them onto a circle die-cut. I used light blue copic markers to color the outside of the circle and then dragged the color inward a bit with the blender (copic marker 0.)

Sea you! (new Lawn Fawn)

I borrowed a sentiment from Mermaid For You and popped it into a Bannerific frame.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!

cute pie! (lawn fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

I'm back with the Lawn Fawn team, highlighting the mini set, Cutie Pie.

I created a little scene in between 2 strips of plaid patterned paper. The little squirrels from Cheery Christmas are holding up a little banner in front of the pie.

bugs and kisses {new lawn fawn!}

Welcome to Lawn Fawn's December release! It's a mini release, with 2 stamp sets and 6 dies, but so cute.

bugs and kisses {new lawn fawn!}

Today's feature is "bugs and kisses," a full-sized set that features different insects and bugs in lawn fawn's trademark style.

I decided to keep things simple today and tomorrow, and show how I would use the sets for my kids' class valentines.

bugs and kisses {new lawn fawn!}

I made myself a tiny little bag, just big enough for a small amount of treats. Separately, I stamped the jar and colored it with a few simple swipes of light blue and grey markers. I stamped the insect and the heart (from woodgrain backdrops) and then opted to stamp and cut out the critter again so that his tail-end could overlap the banner die-cut.

I just love this worm - he's my favorite! I custom-created the sentiment on my computer - it barely fits into the banner, haha!

I hope you like what I created! There's so much more inspiration on the lawn fawn blog today - click!

joy to the woods {lawn fawn september inspiration week}

Welcome to the first day of Lawn Fawn's September inspiration week! Today is our showcase of Joy to the Woods, and its coordinating set of dies.

joy to the woods {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I think this card has a bit of a folksy feel, don't you?  The artwork is a bit less cutesy than we're used to seeing from lawn fawn, too. I really love this set, and all the things you can do with it!

joy to the woods {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I let the chipmunk have a ride on the fox's back as they checked out the ornaments that the bird was holding up.

After coloring the images, including the entire background, I masked only some of the images before spraying a blizzard, (mister huey's opaque white spray) then went around accenting the images with a white gel pen. I felt like this worked well with the folksy feel of the card.

Behind the images, I tried my best to line up 2 scraps of striped red paper (from last year's lawn fawn christmas collection) so that it looked like the stripes were going in opposite directions.

life is good! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Are you loving the new lawn fawn release so far?  Today, we're putting you in a beachy state of mind (it has to be a state of mind, because the temperatures haven't quite warmed up in Montreal yet.)

life is good! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I absolutely love this set! I couldn't pass up using that cute crab, but the sandcastle and other elements are perfect for summer. I see a beach-themed lawn fawn party in my future.

I used the say cheese lawn cut, and built a snapshot of summer within its frame.  Because, isn't that what vacations are really for? making people at home feel jealous with amazing pictures? ha.

life is good! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

The crab in the hammock is my fave.

milk & cookies for santa {lawnscaping winter blog hop}

Hi and welcome to the winter edition of the lawnscaping blog hop!  You should have clicked over from the always beautifully styled and photographed Nicole's blog.

There are prizes up for grabs and a complete hop list up on the lawnscaping blog, if you lose your way.  Since you have many stops to get to, I'll keep the chatter to a minimum. I was so inspired by this pin:

I mixed stamps from lawn fawn (specifically, the gnome, the banner, the cookies, and the gingerbread man), Wplus9, CSS, and Papertrey Ink to create my version:

milk & cookies for santa {lawnscaping winter blog hop}

The focal panel is one layer.  I wanted it to look like a print, so everything was carefully (sooo carefully) masked.  I started with the cookies, then the milk bottle, santa, the banner and finally the sunburst background.  whew!  I held my breath the entire time, and when I was coloring in the images, I prayed to Santa, "please Santa,  no red-marker-bleeding.... and let my 3 year old still like what I've bought her for Christmas, because she keeps changing her mind."

So there you have it. hee.

Your next stop is the lovely Sarah's blog.  Don't forget to check out all of the prize and giveaway details on the lawnscaping blog.  To be eligible, you can leave comments along the way, from now until Sunday December 15th at 11:59EST.  Good luck!

let it snow {lawn fawn + thermoweb week}

Here's the deal.  I'm lamely typing this post without using my left index finger. It's awkward.  I lopped off a chunk with my guillotine paper-cutter yesterday.  I can't be the only one who's ever done this, right?  I blame it on the child.  Maia yelled something and I jumped - jumped and twisted slightly and brought down the blade. sigh.  The best part was when I called my hubby to tell him what happened: he asked if I was ok, and then quickly (too quickly) inquired about my project... if I had ruined it with blood smear.  I have trained him well... hee.

So, without any real segueway, here's my fawnie+thermoweb project:

let it snow {lawn fawn + thermoweb week}

If this card looks a little familiar, it's because it is!  I took heavy inspiration from a treat packaging that my fellow fawnie Yainea made, published in the pages of a recent Paper Crafts mag:

I am constantly wowed by what Cristina creates - my card is a nod to her amazing talent.

I switched up the fox for the bunny (mostly out of extreme laziness: the bunny has a matching die) and added patterned paper to the background.  The thermoweb 3D foam squares and zots came in very handy.

The red banner is my fave.

a very girly xmas.

It's lawn fawn's holiday inspiration week!

I tried to break out of my regular kraft/red/white/green christmas card colors... but this is what happens when Sofia is crafting next to me and giving me 'suggestions':

a very girly xmas.

Ha.  we're 20 shades of pink and grey with this card.  I used that snowfall stencil stencil again, with the embossing paste and some glitter.  I'm obsessed.  The making frosty friends snow-girl is resting atop her mountain of shimmery pink snow, with only the girliest of little birdies for companions.

I hope you like it! Sofia already claimed this one for her home-room teacher.

have a sweet day.

have a sweet day.

Time for another lawnscaping challenge!

I don't usually copy myself, but I had someone ask me for a set similar to *this one.*  Sooo, a 3-D paper-pieced cake, fawnie-style:

have a sweet day.

I used "bake me a cake," "blissful botanicals," and "bannerific" to create this vintage-y card.  I love that lawn fawn images can take a more elegant turn, depending on how you use them!

A few rolled flowers, with a side-order of cake.

I hope you decide to create something paper-pieced this week!  You could win a prize from lawn fawn:

you're a star!

*** this is my second post of the day! scroll down or click {here} for my CSS teacher appreciation project***

Welcome back to another day of lawn fawn inspiration!  We're showing off "lucky stars" - a new 3x4 stamp set, and a set of lawn cuts dies- stackable puffy stars!  I puffy heart these puffy stars!

you're a star!

If someone is a star around our house, that deserves a treat.

you're a star!

The stars from "lucky stars" make for a great pattern!  I decorated a kraft cupcake liner (cut with this die) to match the topper.

you're a star!

Did you know that you can turn any star into a 5 point star?  I made two of them, and nested them together. So fun!  As an added bonus, the sentiment fits perfectly into the little banner.

I hope you like what I've made - check out the lawn fawn blog for even more!

Vintage blue skies

Happy Sunday, and welcome to lawn fawn inspiration week!  I'm so excited to be able to share the new sets - they are all so adorable!

Today, we're highlighting "blue skies," a hot air balloon set with lawn fawn flair:

vintage blue skies

I stamped the adorable hot air balloon, colored it in with copics and then stamped the chevron pattern from "interlocking backdrops" over-top for some subtle pattern.  A flying banner was easy to create: I stamped the full banner, and just drew in a few lines to close it off and make it look like the balloon was carrying it across the *pink* sky.

vintage blue skies

The clouds are subtle, but so cute!  (I love that they are flat-bottomed, don't you?) I stamped them in a pink ink, and then swiped some copic shading into them.

I hope you like today's card!  See you tomorrow for more lawn fawn inspiration ♥

you brighten my day

I haven't made time for entering challenges lately, but I really wanted to play around with the current tuesday trigger, over at moxie fab world.

From this delicious embroidered pattern, to this card:

you brighten my day

Now.  I lurve this card so much, but the photo of it, not so much.  We have been on March break this week, and my goal is to spend every waking minute with the kidlets, not setting up for photos....I snapped this one quickly on our dining room table.

I grabbed several elements from the inspiration photo:

- the fabric texture, which I translated into my impressed white mat with its roughed-up edges.
- the color scheme, incorporated into my botanicals and banner
- the random grid stitching, (and for this one you'll have to trust me) which I showed on my white mat, in the form of randomly-stamped tiny hexagons.  They're not showing up in the picture too well....grrrr.... but they're there.

you brighten my day

If you squint, you can see them in this photo *grins*

I used all lawn fawn stamps for this card: blissful botanicals, bannerific, the tiny flower from summertime charm, and the hexagons from interlocking backdrops.  I have to give a shout out to the new dies.  They are awe-some!  I lurve the fact that I can stamp and then die cut a perfect white border afterwards.  If you own lawn fawn stamps, you need to own the dies too!

you brighten my day

There's still time for you to play along with the moxie fab challenge!  I love seeing what inspires different crafters, all from the same photo.

ps, colored-in banners are my new fave.

tons of birthday fun!

Good monday morning!

It's the first day of March break over here, which obviously means that the kids woke up at 5:40am (instead of having to be dragged out of bed at 6:30am for school) - oy!

We're kicking off a new lawnscaping challenge this morning - all about adding texture to your project.  Here's my take:

tons of birthday fun

Did you happen to see *this video* made by my friend Karin?  She was the inspiration behind my ink-textured focal panel.  I used her technique to create my sky and grass, all the while keeping a white border around my label.  Love it!

tons of birthday fun

I used the same technique as I did *here* to create a custom sentiment via my computer.  I'm working on a little tutorial for those of you who asked - I haven't forgotten!  We've all just been spending time being disgusting and congested... as soon as I get my voice back (it's manly-sexy at the moment) I will be posting something for you :)

tons of birthday fun

The big hit of texture on my card is in the liquid-appliquéd clouds.  I love how fluffy they got!

It's your turn to link up to our challenge:

Princess party!

princess party decorations!

It's a virtual princess party, y'all!  I'm teaming up with some fabulous confections bloggers, Marlyn and Haniela to bring you one adorable virtual princess party!

princess party decorations!

All of the elements for my party decorations were water-colored - in the quickest, easiest way possible!  I wanted this to be a stress-free party!  I used two lawn fawn stamp sets to create my decorations:  critters ever after and bannerific.

I tried my best to create a soft, and airy ensemble.  My banner pennants were given a wash of blue ink, and the "make a wish" banner was highlighted in pink.  I backed each pennant with a doily that I sponged with the same pink ink.  Only the castle flags were colored - easy peasy!

princess party decorations

Each little party-going princess needs her own wand.  Marlyn, of Montreal Confections, made these sugar cookie wands.  I created a personalized banner on each one - adorable at a princess party to identify each little girl's place!

princess party decorations!

One of my most favorite elements was this water bottle cover.  I used blue patterned paper and a castle cut-out was adhered to the front.  I tried my hand at clever with the "wishing well water" sign.  My mom made a funny: she said it was one step above holy water - hee.

In the ensemble photo at the top, I also created a little flag for the straw, but it got lost somewhere in between the two photo-shoots!  Take a scroll back up to see, and I'll be waiting for you when you come back down *wink*

princess party decorations!

all set?

You can't have a party without a party favor, and this one is adorable:

princess party decorations!

The little wannabe prince charming is leaving you kisses.  I filled a clear box with hershey's kisses, and die cut a banner shape that tied back in with the main banner.  On the front, I popped up my cute frog with some foam squares.

In the background of some of my pictures, you're spying Marlyn's beautiful princess cake.  You have to check out her post, and Haniela's as well - they are amazing!

We've all created little video tutorials for you on youtube.  Click *here* for mine.  It's the first time I'm showing off my hands in a video ;)  I apologize for the poor video quality.  I'm still trying to figure all of this out!

my first published card!

sorry for being a bit blog-lazy... I've been in an over-fed-thanksgiving daze :)  In my defense, that was some good eatin'...

I am overjoyed to share with you my first-ever published card!  You can find it as of today on newstands in the november/december issue of Paper Crafts magazine:

I used my favorite lawn fawn set, "cozy christmas," paired it with "bannerific," and "sally's abcs," and decorated a little holiday mantel.

thanks for sharing in my excitement!

lawnscaping challenge: 1 layer

Time for another lawnscaping challenge!  We're asking you to create your best 1 layer card.

Up for grabs is a 25$ shopping spree at Simon Says Stamp:

Simon Says Stamp

Joining us for this week's challenge are designers Julie Ebersole and Kari Webster.

And, without further ado... my 1-layer card, my masking masterpiece (hee hee):

I used lawn fawn's "sunny skies" and "bannerific" sets for my card.

I first stamped the banner, masked it and then, yes, cut out all of the clouds by hand, masked them, and sponged antique linen distress ink over-top.  And kept the masks in place to stamp Hero Arts' envelope pattern background over the whole thing in aqua mist ink.  I just love it.  It has a stationary-boutique look to it, without any layers... I love what you can do with some simple masking tape!

I'm also linking up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: on cloud 9.  I think it's the perfect fit :)

Now it's your turn!  I can't wait to see your fantastic 1-layer creations!
