Magic Memories - Canvasdesign Review & Competition!

They say a picture tells a thousand words and so does a canvas print! Canvas prints have grown in popularity over the past few years, with almost every household owning at least one showing off beautiful scenery or a lovely family member.

Canvasdesign are a company who specialize in canvas printing with prints available from just 6 inches square up to 40 inches square - the choice is yours! We had the opportunity to receive a canvas print from Canvasdesign to share our opinions with you and pass on a great discount code.... as well as giving one of you the opportunity to win a canvas print of your choice absolutely free!

It was a really difficult decision as to which image to choose for our canvas - eventually we settled on a landscape taken this winter from the beach opposite our house.

We were really pleased when the canvas arrived. Quite often you see a perfect picture with your eyes, take the photo with your super-duper camera but then when you see it in print, the colours just aren't 'there'! With the canvas from Canvasdesign, the colours are really vibrant and the sky-blue really shows the quality of the print. The photo is not at all grainy and we were definitely impressed!

Now for the boring, but essential, bits - the ordering was really easy and simple to do, delivery was quick and the communication from both the courier and Canvasdesign was very good. Overall, I would recommend this company and definitely use them again.

So, here's your opportunity to do just that! Canvasdesign have given me an online discount code to share with you all - just use BLOG15 at the checkout to receive 15% off your total order and delivery is free too! Click here to shop now!

But first, you may want to enter my competition to win a canvas print of your choice. Just complete the Rafflecopter entry below and good luck!

Drumond Park "The Box of Shocks" Review & Competition

Get one step ahead ready for April Fool's Day!  "The Box of Shocks" from Drumond Park is a great collection of 13 tricks and surprises aimed at children aged 8 and above (rrp £19.99) - a definite must-have for tricksters of all ages.  Your child (or you!) will be at the top of the prankster league... but practice makes perfect!  So with the clear step by step instructions and helpful hints, you'll be taking everyone by surprise!

Inside the box are different items for your child to perform different tricks to amaze and astound the audience (i.e. any unsuspecting Granny, Grandad, Auntie, etc...)!  I'm not going to give the game away with each item but they include "pop-tastic"potato snacks, a "spider-riffic" secret box and scorpion that comes to life!

My daughter (aged 8) has loved everything in this box, especially playing tricks on her younger brother and Dad.... I had had a sneaky look at the items before giving the pack to her so that I knew what to expect (bad Mother, I know!).  She even took one of the tricks to her karate lesson - let's just say the adult she tricked jumped to the ceiling when the punchline of the trick was delivered!  My son is only 5 years old but already a bit of a trickster and he enjoyed playing a trick or two on his Dad as well....!

She also liked the "Magic Card" trick and feels very important as it does require an element of thought and she thinks that she's the only one who knows the secret to its success!  My favourite is the potato chip surprise...it had me in fits of giggles for ages!  The trick requiring some water and a quick reaction was also a hit in our house... although Dad thought he was going to end up wet - all part of the trick, my dear!

She can't wait until the Easter holidays when our annual family event takes place - everyone migrates to our house for a few days over Easter and this year the break includes my Mum's birthday too so definitely time for a celebration.... and more visitors for my daughter to catch out with her tricks!

This set is much more than a magic set... it combines some simple magic tricks with a fantastic element of surprise and once you get over the initial shock, the uncontrollable laughter starts...!

This is definitely something I would recommend for purchase to keep your older children entertained during the upcoming holidays... they can have a week to perfect their techniques ready for April Fool's Day (Monday 1st April).  But on the day, make sure you keep your wits about you and don't fall for any nice "surprises" from your children!

You can keep up to date with all new game developments from Drumond Park on their Facebook page here and you can also follow them on Twitter using the @drumondpark handle here.

And as a treat for all my followers, the lovely guys and gals at Drumond Park have one copy of "The Box of Shocks" for one of you to win!  Just complete the Rafflecopter below to enter and good luck!

Spin Mania Review & Giveaway - Drumond Park

Last week we were sent a great new game from Drumond Park - Spin Mania! The aim of the game is to spin three plates on top of three stands against the clock!
Using the motorised "Spinning Machine", you spin-up the three plates one at a time and then using your spin spike, transfer them, still spinning to the three separate stands.

Easy?  Well, it all depends on how tricky you want to make it! For the trial run (not against the clock in our case!) we practised just spinning and transferring the plates to the spin-spikes on a table top. My youngest is aged 5 (just below the recommended age of 6 years old) and he managed fine.

Then, to play the game properly, we had another go! Before the spinning starts, agree where the area of play should be, for example, just in the lounge, dining room or garden (if you're feeling brave in the cold weather). Before each player takes their turn, the other players secretly place the plate stands around the designated area. Try not to make it too difficult though! You can't actually hide a stand, but could place them in tricky places such as under a table or chair.

Then start the timer and go for it! Spin, transfer, find and place the plate on the stand - after the third and final plate, stop the timer and mark the score. The player with the shortest time wins!

Play can be adapted for different age groups or even team play, involving a short obstacle course if you have the skill! You can even play on your own - perfecting your technique to increase your chances of winning next time!

We all had great fun playing this game - the difficult part for me was keeping a steady hand whilst giggling!  I'm sure the children were causing me a considerable disadvantage by pulling funny faces - no tickling allowed though!

In our opinion, this would make a great family Christmas gift - just make sure you have 2 C batteries in your cupboard... we always have loads of AA and AAA stocked up for Christmas but had to pop out and get some C batteries!  Spin Mania retails at around £22.99 and is available at all good toy and game retailers.  For stockists visit www.drumondpark.com or call 01506 855577.

The great guys and gals at Drumond Park have a copy of the game for you to win, so enter the Rafflecopter below and good luck!!! a Rafflecopter giveaway
