Nursing Scrubs!

Psalm 118: 24
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Today was a busy day for me, but what really made my day was getting my nursing scrubs in the mail! I had a blast trying them on! The scrubs are so comfy, I had them on for about 2 hours! I can't wait to get back to school and wear them! Here are some pictures that Mom took :) .
Chelsea also received her uniform in the mail today! We had fun video chatting.

My sister, Brittany tried on my uniform. She would make a cute nurse, but I think she'd rather stick to accounting.

I'll Always Stand....For You

Last week when I was driving to school I heard this song on the radio and it really affected me. I found this video on you tube and at the end of the video it gives a verse from Isaiah. Isaiah 7: 9 says, "If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all." I remember reading this verse this past school year and mediating on what that verse would look like in my life. It was cool to see this verse at the end of the video. Christ needs to be the foundation of my life and I need to be firm in my faith, by obeying His Word. My prayer is that I'll always stand for Christ, in every area of my life. I hope this video encourages you.

Jesus, I stand for You
No matter what You lead me through
They will chase me out
And close me down
But Jesus I’ll stand for You

I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand for You (x2)

Jesus, I’ve stood my ground
When unbelief was all around
And I have felt the sting
Rejection brings
But Jesus I still stand for You

I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand for You (x2)

A time will come
When everyone
Will turn their eyes
On the Risen Son
But until that day, this world will turn away
And so I’ll take Your hand
I’ll always stand for You

Guilty of this grace
But You took my place
So Jesus, I’ll always stand for You

I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand
I’ll always stand for You

The Stethoscope

This summer I've been taking two class at the community college a math class and a speech class, so that I can finish all my pre req for school. In my speech class we are working on informative speeches and I chose to do mine on the history of the stethoscope. As I have been doing research for this speech, I have learned so much about the stethoscope. The word stethoscopes comes from the greek stethos-chest, scope- examination. The picture below shows the physician physically listening to his patient. I was surprised to hear that the physicians would actually put their ear on their patients chest. O how things have changed.

The stethoscope was invented by René Laennec a French man. He was born in 1781. His mother died when he was about 5 years old of Tuberculosis. He eventually lived with his uncle who was a physcian and René became interested in medicine.

René figured out that wood was a good medium to transport sounds. He was gifted with his hands and was able to make the first stethoscope. Below are pictures of wooden stethoscopes that were used in the 1820's. I am amazed at how far we have come! (I thought they kind of looked like candlestick holders).

Over the years the stethoscope has changed physically but not in use. This is my stethoscope and now when I look at it, it reminds me of how hard many others have worked so that we can improve the medical field! I can't wait to see where the future of stethoscopes will go!

Everything

Above is one of my favorite worship songs that I first heard at Wednesday night church at LU. This song was written by Tim Hughes. What I love about this song is the lyrics. I want God to be my Everything, I so easily get caught up thinking about myself or being discontent and forget that God should be the main focus of my entire life waking or sleeping. This song really encouraged me this school year and still encourages me today.

Colossians 1:27
"To them God chose to make known how great among the gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

1 Corinthians 10:31
"So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God."

(Lyrics)
God in my living
There in my breathing
God in my waking
God in my sleeping
God in my resting
There in my working
God in my thinking
God in my speaking
Be my everything
Be my everything
Be my everything
Be my everything
God in my hoping
There in my dreaming
God in my watching
God in my waiting
God in my laughing
There in my weeping
God in my hurting
God in my healing
Christ in me
Christ in me
Christ in me the hope of glory
You are everything
Christ in me
Christ in me
Christ in me the hope of glory
Be my everything

Nursing Buddies

Chelsea is one of my nursing buddies. I am so thankful that I met her this year. Surprisingly, Chelsea and I were in the same Anatomy and Physiology class and a few nursing classes. We have spent many nights in the science lab studying together.

We have had some good times in the Science Lab.

Chelsea is such a joy to be around and is very positive. I respect the way she works so hard for the Lord. She is going to be an amazing Nurse!

Chelsea and I were so excited to try on the nursing scrubs! We had a blast taking pictures!

Exploring the nursing lab!

Liberty Nursing Student

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

This fall I attended Liberty University as an incoming freshman. In the Spring of 2008 I applied and was accepted into Liberty University's Nursing Program. I am very grateful to God for His grace as I completed my first year at school. I want to use Nursing to serve Him and His people.
