Congratulations on Your Engagement

Hi friends!  I have a very special card to share today.  My niece Stephanie got engaged over the Columbus Day weekend.  Her now fiancé, Chris, proposed to her at the top of a ski hill in a popular ski resort just outside of Buffalo, NY.  They rode the chairlift up and when they got up there, he said that this would be a great place for a wedding or an engagement.  It was so beautiful in the fall with all the beautiful leaves changing.  He then got down on his knee and proposed.  He's such a sweet guy and perfect for Stephanie.

Today we are celebrating their engagement with a dinner at Stephanie's mom's house.  I bought them a pretty Kate Spade frame to house their engagement or wedding photo.  I of course had to make a card.  Stephanie wants to get married next fall and wants royal blue as her theme color.  So I thought I'd use some blue foil to create this card.  I ordered the foil and this stamp set from SSS and it just arrived yesterday!  I had to stamp it on cardstock and take it to Office Max to have them copy it on  their laser printer (I don't have one).  Then I was able to foil it.  It's difficult here to see the shine of the foil.

You can see the shine of the foil in this photo.  I just added more shimmer with sequins and a silver heart.  I matted the main panel on navy cardstock, and that's mounted on fun foam for some dimension.

I also stamped the envelope with the same flourish and a sentiment that says "Mr. & Mrs. to be".

Here's a great photo of Stephanie and Chris.  They usually take goofy photos together (I'm worried about the wedding photos!  LOL!).  I wanted to print one of the goofy photos and put it in the frame, but I didn't think of it before the store I bought the frame from wrapped it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Give Thanks

I've been holed up in my house since Tuesday...I'm from Buffalo and I'm sure you've heard about the winter storm we've been under for the last 3 days.  It's still snowing at my house and we've probably gotten about 5-6 FEET of snow...yes FEET!  Here are some pictures of my house.

This was taken from my kitchen window.  That is a drift in front of my garage and that is a six foot fence.

This is my patio off my garage.  That is just a mound of snow!  Nothing under there!

This is my husband's van.  Can you see the back light?

My husband shoveling the front walk and front steps.

My dog Lizzie is loving this snow and having so much fun in it!  But see my garbage tote behind my hubby?  That thing is huge and it's almost covered!

So I am giving thanks today for all the emergency responders that are working around the clock to get everyone plowed out, getting people to the hospital (our aunt had to be taken by some kind of snow vehicle from her house to the hospital for dialysis), getting food to people (my mom gets Meals on Wheels and they have called her several times to make sure she has enough of her own food to eat), etc.  We've unfortunately lost 10 people to this storm due to cardiac arrest and other issues.  It's really getting serious folks.  We have people coming here from all over New York and Pennsylvania to help.  They have employed an enormous amount of payloaders to remove snow...the plows can't get through and some have gotten stuck.  We haven't seen anything down our street yet, but I know they will get here soon.

I made this card for my mom and my in-laws, but at this time of thanksgiving I am sending it out to all of those men and women who are helping us out.

This image is from Northwoods and I just love it!  I colored it with copics and added some star dust stickles.  I then die cut it and while it was still in the die, I sponged some tumbled glass ink around the image.  I added some pattern paper and a twine bow to finish it of.  I made this into an easel card because my MIL always complains that my cards are too heavy and fall over!  The easel card prevents this from happening.  I added a glittered leaf button to keep the card standing open.

These are the copics I used to color the image.

Thanks for stopping by friends!  I'm staying home safe and warm for the duration!

Hands of Time

Hi friends!  Instead of sitting around this beautiful Sunday morning, I was up before 8:00 am cleaning (I usually don't get moving until 11:00 am, so this is a monumental feat for me!) and crafting.  I saw the Sweet Sunday sketch last night on Facebook, and knew I had to make something with it!

Papertrey's Hands of Time stamp set was the perfect choice for this sketch.  I stamped the smaller of the two clock faces in Soft Suede ink, and then stamped the Roman numerals in Riding Hood Red ink.  My color palette came from this Bo Bunny paper called Timepiece.  I stamped the clock hands in red and fussy cut them.  They are attached with a brown pearl.  I added more pearls in the upper corner.  I cut the flags myself and added the brown SU grosgrain ribbon.

Here's the inside.  I'm sending this to our friends Valerie and Norman.  We visited them at their beautiful townhome in Lake Placid on President's Day weekend.  They were such lovely hosts, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!  We went snowshoeing, shopping, visited an ice castle (the temps were hovering around the 2 degree Fahrenheit mark all weekend!), and Kevin went on the Skeleton ride down the bobsled run.  The Skeleton is the Luge, but head first!  He had a ball!

Here are a couple of pictures I took.  This first one is of Whiteface Mountain.  I believe that vertical structure in front was the Olympic torch.  Isn't this a beautiful picture?  It was sunny all weekend, but the ski resort was closed all weekend because of wind.  :-( for the boys!

Here's Kevin and I at the bobsled run.  You can see the flags flying in the backgound.  Quite windy!

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my little adventure!

I Think You're Awesome!

Hello friends!  My niece Maria is celebrating her 18th birthday today (her birthday is actually tomorrow, but the celebration is today!), and I wanted to make her a special card for this special day, Maria is a special girl.  She is in her first year of pre-med at the University of Buffalo.  She is very dedicated and a strong and level-headed young girl.  I so hope she can make it through all this education needed to be an anethesiologist.  I know she will try her hardest to make it!

So I created a fun card mixed with a bunch of different patterns.  The products are all PTI except for the pattern paper and cardstock.  The dp is from Bo Bunny's Hellow Sunshine collection and the cardstock from SU.  I started by cutting out the green frame using the Fabulous Frames die. Then I stamped the herrigbone pattern from Fabulous Frames on white cardstock with Cameo Coral ink.  The sentiment is from the We Go Together stamp set.  I think that one says it all!  Then I cut the bubble paper into a flag shape and die cut the numbers from Calypso Coral paper using the By the Numbers dies.  Another die from Fabulous Frames was used to cut the banner.  The sentiment is from Simple Little Things stamped in Cameo Coral.

Here's the inside.  Another flag and the sentiment stamped in Cameo Coral from Signature Greetings II.

And here is my sweet niece Maria.  Happy 18th birthday!

 Thanks for stopping by!

Cowgirl Up!

Hi everyone!  My niece's birthday is Friday and I made this card for her.  She thinks she's a cowgirl!  LOL!!  She loves horses, her cowboy boots and hat, cowboy music, and shooting a shotgun!    So when I saw this image called Revolver Babe by Nellie Snellen, I had to buy it!  She was just too cute to pass up!  She's colored with copics, and I added some sparkle with some Spica glitter pens (hard to see in the picture).  I of course had to use this fabulous October Afternoon paper called Sasparilla for my cowgirl card!  Love it!

I'm playing along with the I Spy Sketch Challenge for this week.  It's a free for all, but you had to use one of their previous sketches.  This is the one I used from June 2012.

Now you know I'd have to link up a picture of my niece Andrea so you could see my inspiration for the card!  Love that girl!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Time Made Easy Release Day - Ribbon of Awareness

Hi there friends!  Today is release day at My Time Made Easy and this post is a very emotional one for many of the design team members.  Typically in October we celebrate breast cancer awareness, but today we are celebrating awareness of all types of cancer.  Each of the girls is creating with this new template called I Support You in a color that touches each of their hearts.  When we were chiming in about the color we were using and the reasons for using that color, we were amazed at how many of us were touched by this terrible disease at some point in our lives.

I have a very personal connection with this disease.  My only brother, Jim (or Jimmy as we always called him) was afflicted with colon cancer that spread to his liver.  This disease took his life at the tender age of 46.  He left behind three young children.  It will be 15 years this November 20 that he left us.  When I say he was the nicest guy ever, there wouldn't be one person who knew him who would deny that fact.  I miss him terribly and think about him everyday.  He was nine years older than me, but we were very close.

When I looked at the ribbon colors, brown was the color of colon cancer with blue being another color to represent it.  So I combined the two.  This is probably my favorite color combination anyway!

I created the box from chocolate chip cardstock and then added this retired paper from SU called Parisian Breeze.  It had the brown and blue colors in it I needed.  I tied a blue dotted ribbon around it and added this flower I found in my stash.  It was made by a fellow crafter I met at a stamping event this spring.  I saved it for future use and it was the perfect accent for my bow.

Here's a side view of the box so you can see that it's quite deep.  There are three different options for the center.  You can leave it plain (no opening), cut out the heart like I did here, or cut out an oval.  There is a piece of acetate covering up the hole so your contents stay put!

There is a new digital stamp set to go along with this template called Be Supportive.  There are so many wonderful sentiments included that cover just about any situation.  The ribbon is included in it as well, and I colored it in blue in GIMP and layered this sentiment that was perfect for me when I think about Jimmy.  I cut it out using the new cut file called Homemade Labels.  I layered it onto another larger label in the chocolate chip and added the pearls.  I didn't make a card for this label because I have a special place for this label.

It's going to be sitting on this picture of Jimmy that is on my bay window in my living room directly across from my couch so I can see him.  Love you Jim!

I hope you can stop by the following blogs to see what the other design team members have to share with you.  And I also hope you go to the MTME store and purchase some awesome new products!
Thanks for stopping by and reading about my story.  I hope you have a fabulous day!  Give your loved ones a big hug!

I Won a Blue Ribbon!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share some news with you. I entered some photos and some of my cards in our local county fair, the Erie County Fair. I've been wanting to do that for some time and decided to bite the bullet! I entered some pictures of my dog that I thought for certain were going to win.  The category I entered was a three picture progression category.  These are the three I entered.

I just thought these were just so cool!  My dog just loves to dive into that pond.  But, alas, these did not win!  I also entered two cards that did not win.  I was feeling so dejected!  I entered this tag on a whim and this is the one that won a blue ribbon!  I made this for a JUGs Wild Card challenge which you can see blogged here.  It was hanging on a Christmas tree in the corner with all the other tags that were entered!  I thought this was hilarious because I walked right by it and so will everyone else!  LOL!!!
Here's a picture of my tag with the ribbon hanging on the tree!
So I won this pretty ribbon and $5!  LOL!!!  And see my name on the exhibitor's tag?  It also displays my age!  You can't see it on this one, but on my other two card entries you can see it loud and clear!  Ugghhh!!!!! Thanks for indulging me in my first-ever blue ribbon win!

A Jubilee Celebration

My mother-in-law asked me to make a card for the priest at her church, Father Larry, who is celebrating his Jubilee as a priest.  In the Catholic Church, once a priest reaches the age of 75, he has to retire.  Father Larry has reached this age and his parish is celebrating with a party today.  I wanted to make something special to commemorate this special occasion.  I purchased this pretty shiny gold paper from AC Moore and used almost the entire 8.5"x11" paper on it.  The cross is from PTI's Everday Blessings and it was embossed in detail gold embossing powder.  I cut it out using MFT's Vertical Greetings die.  I added some gold crystals around it and in the middle of the cross.  I found this ivory rick-rack with gold glitter on it which was the perfect accent for the card.  The roses are Primas.

Because of the roses, the card was too bulky to put into an envelope.  So I used one of the clear boxes from PTI and decorated it with a gold ribbon and bow.  My MIL loved it!  I once again forgot to take a picture of the inside.  I used a sentiment and a decorative stamp from the Everyday Blessings set embossed in gold as well.

I used this sketch from Sweet Sunday sketches again.

And here's a picture of my niece Maria at her graduation.  We are so proud of her!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great day!

You Made It!

Hi there everyone!  I have lots of pictures to share with you today.  My niece Maria graduated yesterday (I'll have pictures tomorrow) and this is the card I created for her.  I purchased this A La Modes stamp set from My Favorite Things called Grad Girl a while ago just for this card!  Maria's school colors are purple and white and she loves green, so I think adding the yellow was ok since I had all the other colors in there!  I colored the image with copics, and since Maria is wore a white gown for her graduation, I kept it white but colored her hat purple.  Maria also earned the honor of wearing a gold tassel on her cap because she graduated with high honors, so I colored the tassel with a gold Spica pen.  The paper is an oldie but goodie from SU called Uptown.  I love how soft the colors are in this card.

I used this sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Love these sketches and I use them all the time!   I of course decorated the inside, but I forgot to take a picture.  It says, "The tassel is worth the hassle.  So proud of you."

I have pictures of Maria's prom, which was this past Wednesday.  If you don't want to look, I totally understand!  Thanks for stopping by!
If you want to see my beautiful niece, thanks for staying!  Here is a back shot of the dress.  She had a little train on the dress with sequins coming up the back.  Hard to see it here.

This is Hector, her date for the evening.  Handsome couple!

The hair!  Maria has really long hair and next week she is cutting it to donate it to Locks of Love.  Her hair looked so pretty all done up.

Here's another shot of her hair.

This was taken at the hair salon.  My husband's cousin, Linda, created this up-do.  I think she did a fantastic job!

This is my favorite picture!  The prom was at the Harbor Club at our First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.  This is where our Buffalo Sabres host their hockey games.  This is a great shot of part of our skyline in the early evening.  Such a cool picture!

Well, thanks for sticking with me on this long post and for allowing me to brag a little about my niece!  I don't have any children of my own, so I live vicariously through my nieces and nephews!  See you soon!
