CARDS blog May challenge

Woohoo! It's Monday!
(I'm trying to be positive about  the dreaded Monday thing...bear with me:)

I'm playing along with the CARDS blog challenge today over at Create:
Here's the color graphic.

Such pretty, summery colors together, don't you agree?
I knew they would work well with my hibiscus stamps from Denami. And the gingham I stamped was just a bonus...I was thinking of being on a picnic blanket with a sweetheart amongst the sweet smelling flowers and imagining we were on a tropical beach somewhere...*happy sigh*
Oh sorry.
Where was I?
*ahem*

Supplies used:

Come play along with the May CARDS challenge and see what the prize might be!
*wink*

Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO

Color challenge

Monday again? Ugh. Back to the grindstone!

I had a strange weekend. Let me share a bit...
Friday night I went to an incredible concert that made my heart full and my spirit sing (The Indigo Girls with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra). Then I proceeded to run from a potential mugger on my way back to my car, get lost driving alone in inner city Buffalo, nearly run out of gas, get gas and drive an hour, then pick up my kids around midnight, drive a half mile and hit a deer (for the first time in my life), smash up my 9 month old new car, get placed on hold with the insurance company for TWELVE MINUTES after choosing option #1 to "report an accident", finally get help from a Sheriff that saw my flashers only to discover that my vehicle registration had expired last week. *sigh*
After finally getting home and putting the kiddos to bed around 1:30 in the morning, I realized I should be thankful that none of us were hurt and that the sheriff let me slide without a ticket and that at least I HAVE insurance. But alas, I was on the phone with Progressive the next day (Saturday) for 2 hours only to discover that they DROPPED my comprehensive collision insurance 2 weeks ago (without informing me) and would NOT be covering the damages.
*insert expletives here*
Life is grand though:)
And in other news I wimped out and turned my heat on this Sunday *shiver*

But you didn't come here to listen to my sob story, so lets get a move on, eh?

If you are in a fall mood, why not join us for the Denami color challenge happening right now on the Denami blog? There are prizes to be had, so give it a shot!

Butterfly thanks

Morning all!
I'm popping in with a card for the color challenge happening on the Denami blog right now!
This is such a fun array of colors and I think Emily did a fab job of choosing them.

After inking up the butterfly in grey, I colored it with Copics and added gel pen polka dots to the bottom half before cutting it out. It's popped up on an embossed panel stamped with the large dot swirl and inked. Sentiment is the brushed thank you stamped inside the scroll frame (which I love and which happens to be on sale this week...*wink*). All cardstock, ribbon, stamps and button are DeNami!

Create a project using these colors and link it up to the Denami blog!
Let's see what you come up with!
You might be one of the spotlight picks or the winner of a $20 gift certificate to the Denami store!

Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO

Pink and red birds

I'm alive, I promise.
Just going through some crazy times currently.

Thanks to all of you who have emailed asking if everything is okay. I truly feel blessed by the friendship of so many of my readers and online pals whom I've never met. You guys are the best.

I pulled this card out of my draft blog posts to submit it for the color challenge that Nichole issued during the Papertrey Anniversary celebration. It's been sitting in blogger draft for ages and I was delighted to see that it qualified for the color scheme that Betsy chose
I had not posted it before because I intended to re-photograph it. You can see where it was a bit over-exposed in the foreground right corner.
Ah well, those things slip away from us, don't they.

Not a whole lot to say about it except that everything is PTI! I used 5 different stamp sets on it, can you believe it?! Damask Designs, Round  Round (the 2009 Anniversary set), Bird Watching Additions, Birds of a feather, and Out on a Limb.

Thanks for stopping by today. Your kind words mean a lot to me!

Good friends, good books.

Today's card is for Tuesday Throwdown. The challenge is distressing (yay)!

You can see I didn't do a lot of it here, but I did use my Tim Holtz distressor tool and tons of PTI tea-dye duo ink. Cute digital image and sentiment from DeeDees Digis from the set Teacher's Pet, which I love because the sentiment's aren't just "school" related!

And as a bonus all our cards this week are going to Operation Write Home for the troops. I thought a friendship themed card might be needed, and this sentiment is perfect IMHO.

I also decided to participate in my first Curtain Call challenge! Aren't these colors fab? I don't have that dark artichoke green, so I subbed in with Ripe Avocado.

Thanks for stopping by today friends! If you are feeling the "stress", why not join our
" dis-stressing" challenge for this week's Tuesday Throwdown! *snort*

Raspberry Suite Color challenge #14

Trying to step outside my comfort zone with one of Dawn's color challenges. Red, pink, and purple? You must be joking! I would never put these colors together if it weren't for the creative genius of Dawn. She's simply amazing. She inspires me to no end with her talent to think outside the box!
I fiddled around for quite some time, not really "feeling it". Finally, after walking away for a spell, I came back and all my pieces just fell into place! I'm actually delighted with my effort here.
Using Tim Holtz mini masks, I covered the vintage cream CS base with some of my favorite flourish masks and sponged on Raspberry Fizz ink. Once removed, I had these pretty cream swirls that really stood out.
After adding a strip of Plum Pudding CS stamped in Vintage Cream ink with Damask Designs, all I had to do was add the Scarlet Jewel ribbon and a flower (stamped and cut out) from Friends 'til the End. Of course then I put on some finishing touches...buttons! Ending with a sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages and a line drawn with a copic marker to match Scarlet Jewel, I called it done!
What do you think? Does purple, pink, red, and cream seem like a crazy color combo? Maybe, but I think I pulled it off. *grin* Thanks for the challenge Dawn!
And thanks for stopping by this evening folks...I appreciate it.
