Happy Thanksgiving

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! Can you believe that it is October already? Before we know it, it will be Thanksgiving! Do you have the Thanksgiving dinner at your house or do you go visit somewhere else? I usually go to my in-laws, but I always bring along a few side dishes.

Today I am working with the Hero Arts Thanksgiving Table and ZIG Clean Color Markers:

This stamp set includes several little images. I decided to use them to create a background print. I used the MISTI to help with the placement of the stamps. To fill in some of the empty space, I stamped green leaves. I used a variety of ZIGs to color in the images. The sentiment is stamped on a strip of cardstock and attached to the card.

Sending Birthday Wishes

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! It is football season! I am not sure about where you live, but on the weekends here, the skies are full of planes with advertisement banners.

So with that in mind, here is my card using the Waffle Flower's Across the Miles and ZIG Clean Color markers:

The airplane and banner are stamped in black ink. Once the ink dried, I used ZIG Clean Color markers to color in the scene. I added blue sky around the images. To add some design to the top of the panel,  I stamped a hot air balloon and added some die cuts of clouds.  The panel is cut out using a fancy rectangle die and attached to kraft cardstock.

The following ZIGs were used on today's card:
010, 022, 030, 047

2017 MFT Superstar Card Contest - Clean & Simple

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! This is one of our last 'free' weekends for a while. I think the next one is right before Thanksgiving. So my husband and I decided that the family was going to stay home and do whatever we wanted. So for me, I sent most of the day at my craft desk. It has been awhile since I did that...and it felt GREAT!

A few days ago I ran across the My Favorite Things Superstar Card Contest. If you have not heard about it, please stop by and check it out! This is the third year the contest has been around and it is so inspiring to see what everyone comes up with!

There are three different categories of the contest. I decided to play along with the Clean & Simple Genius category. Below is the card that I came up with:

I used the super cute Birds of Paradise stamp set. I chose one of the birds and stamped the image onto white cardstock. The bird is colored in using ZIG Clean Color markers. The image is then cut out using the coordinating dies. When it came time for the sentiment, I wanted to find a unique way to display it. When I think of tropical locations, I always imagine the cute wooden signs that they use to point of directions and various information. So I cut a few different strips from kraft cardstock. To make the strips look like planks of wood, I used the Die-namics Grassy Edges die along each end of the plank. The blank planks were also embossed with a woodgrain folder. The sentiment is stamped onto the wider of the planks. Before attaching the wooden sign to the card, I stamped a variety of leaves from the Blissful Blooms stamp set using Field Day and Green Room MFT inks. The wooden sign and bird are attached to the card to finish it off.

**Sadly, both the MFT Birds of Paradise and Blissful Blooms stamp sets are discontinued. But please stop by the My Favorite Things store to see their latest designs!**

Thank you for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Go Wild

Hello MarkerPOP friends! School is in session! What does that mean? Time for the parents to go WILD...right?

Today, I am showcasing the Neat & Tangled's Wild Ones and ZIG Clean Color markers:

To start the card, I stamped the giraffe image onto watercolor cardstock with black ink. Once the ink is dried, the image is colored in using ZIG Clean Color markers. The image is then cut out and set aside. I used prints from the Doodlebug At the Zoo 6x6 paper pad to create the layers onto the card. The sentiment is stamped onto a print and attached to the card.  The giraffe is attached to complete the card.

The following ZIG Clean Color markers were used on today's card:

028, 052, 062, 065, 070

Sending Birthday Wishes

Hello, MarkerPOP friends!!! We are coming up on the end of summer. I am ready to start seeing some fall flowers popping up in our local gardens. This Texas summer heat has done a number on the flowers!!! What is your favorite fall flower? Mine probably would be sunflowers.

Today, I am showcasing the WPlus9 Design's Modern Peonies stamp set and ZIG Clean Color markers:

The floral image is stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder. I used only a few ZIG colors to color in the image. In fact, only one shade of each color was used. Find out below the exact colors used. To highlight the flower, I used a very light watercolor blue background.

Once the watercolor was completely dry, I used a fancy scalloped frame die to cut out the panel. The panel is attached to kraft cardstock. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment using brown ink onto the card. The final touch was to add three clear droplets to the card.

The following ZIG Clean Color Markers were used on today's card:
024, 026, 036, 041, 052

No Line It's Your Birthday

Happy Friday, MarkerPOP friends! Who is ready for the weekend? I know that I am! It is the last weekend before the kiddos go back to school! And this mama is ready to get back to a regular schedule!!!

Today, I am sharing a birthday card I created using the No-Line Coloring technique:

To start this card, I stamped the large birthday sentiment from the Waffle Flower's Eat Cake stamp set. The stamp is done with a light colored ink onto watercolor cardstock.  I really wanted the sentiment to pop, so I used a variety of neon Zig Clean Color markers to color in the image. I completed the image with the rainbow effect.

This is simply technique to do. All you need to do is take you time and follow the lines!!!

The following ZIG Clean Colors were used on today's card:
001, 002, 003, 004

Birthday Wishes

Hello, MarkerPOP friends!  Sorry for the late post today! But better late than never, right?

Today, I am working with a super adorable set from WPlus9 Design. The Modern Peonies set is full of floral images that are perfect for several special occasions.

The floral images are stamped onto watercolor cardstock. I used the masking technique to make it look like one flower is in front of another one. The flowers are colored in with ZIG Clean Color markers. The panel is attached to a foiled print. To bring out the gold, I decided to emboss the sentiment with gold embossing powder. The sentiment is cut into strips and attached on the front og the card.

The following ZIG markers were used on today's card:
020, 022, 041, 047, 065, 070

This Place is Not My Home

Hello, Joy Clair friends! It is Jessi from the Joy Clair Design Team. How many of you love to camp in the summer? I think it would be fun...until I think about sleeping in the hot, sticky night and that changes my mind. Now, if I had access to a camper, that might change my mind...might.

Today I am using a number of different Joy Clair sets to create this Bible journaling page below:

To start this page, I stamped the camper image from the Happy Camper stamp set. I stamped an additional camper onto paper and use it for the masking around the camper. I wanted to make it look like the camper was moving, so I added exhaust behind the camper by stamping the bubbles from the Anchor of Hope stamp set.

The next step is to add the trees to the scene. I stamped a couple onto paper from masking process. The trees are from the Happy Camper stamp set. To add the mountain background, I placed the masking trees in place and stamped the mountains. The mountains and clouds are from the Wild and Free stamp set.

The entire page is colored in using Zig Clean Color Watercolor markers. I wanted to add stars to the sky. I wanted to try something instead of white paint splatters. I used NUVO White enamel drops to create the starry sky. Once the stars were dry, I added the stickers for the wording on the page.

Reach for the Sky

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! It is Jessi here. Today I am sharing a sweet card with you today. I am working with the Hampton Arts' Reach for the Sky stamp set. This stamp set would make very cute baby cards. But today, I am using it for a kid's encouragement card. We all have seen our kids in moments were they need our extra support to calm them down.

Why not give them a little extra love with a handmade card!

The stamp set includes a few different adorable animal images. I stamped a few of them onto white watercolor cardstock and colored then in with a variety of ZIG Clean Color markers. The cloud image is stamped onto some printed paper, for some paper piecing. The images are attached to a printed panel. The sentiment is stamped on the bottom left corner of the card. To fill in some of the empty space, I stamped and colored the moon image  and attached to the card.

I used the following ZIG Clean Color markers on this card: 050, 060, 061, 098

Sorry, Friend

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful day! This card seems fitting for today, because well...I am running behind. So better late than never right!?

I recently saw a video about using Zig Markers and creating a stain glass window look. I figured I would give it a try for today's card.

I am using the Waffle Flower's Enveloper Little Birdie stamp set to create the card below.

Starting with a piece of vellum, I stamped the image with embossing ink and covered the image with white embossing powder. I used a heat gun to melt the entire image. Once the embossing was cool, I flipped the vellum over and used a variety of ZIG Markers to color in the image. Because you are coloring on the backside, you can be forgiven for coloring outside of the lines.

When the coloring was completed, the vellum is trimmed down to size to fit on the front panel of the card. The sentiment is created using a couple different supplies. The 'SORRY' is created using a word die and black cardstock/ The 'FRIEND' is stamped and embossed in black onto the vellum.

I loved the stain glass technique and cannot wait to give it another try!

Watercolor Background with Altenew

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! I love to work with bright colors, but I am switching it up today! Throughout the month, the design team is showcasing different watercolor products and techniques on the MarkerPOP blog!

Today, I am creating a watercolor background print. I am using the Altenew's You Make Me Happy stamp set (currently out of stock, but check out the other Altenew floral stamp sets HERE) and ZIG Clean Color markers.

To start this card, I stamped the images with white ink and embossing powder. The embossing powder creates the raised edges to help keep the paint in the right place. I used soft colors to fill in the image. The stems are colored in using ZIG Clean Color - May Green (047 ). The center of the flower is colored in with Light Carmine (021). Light Pink (026) was used on the inside of the flower petals. To fill in the background, Light Blue (036) was used.  To finish the card, the simple sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Happy Day + ZIGs

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! Less than one year ago, I was scared of watercolors! I was scared of them! I threw away many projects, just because I was not happy with my watercolor skills. In fact, one of my goals last year was to work on my watercolor techniques! But when I got my hands on Zig Clean Color Markers, I fell in love!

Today, I paired up my Zig markers with the super cute Waffle Flower's Happy Day stamp set:

I struggle when it comes to shadows. The Zig markers help out so much with that! I grabbed three shades of brown to color in the bear image.

Start with the lightest shade of brown and color the outline of the image. Using water and a paintbrush, spread the color from the outside towards the inside of the image.

Do the same with the middle shade of brown.

Now add the darkest shade of brown around the outer edges and spread the color towards the inside.

Now it is time to color in the rest of the image. Please stop by the MarkerPOP blog to see the list of markers used for today's card. To finish of this card, the sentiment is stamped and embossed in white onto a black strip of cardstock.

Joy Clair- Hedge of Protection Bible Page

Hello, Joy Clair friends! I am happen you stopped by today. For the month of March, the Joy Clair design team is pulling out some of the order stamp sets and making some new projects with them.

One of the stamp sets that I choose to work with is the super adorable Hedge Hogtastic stamp set.

Hedge Hogtastic Clear Stamps - Joy Clair - 1

This stamp set is part of the Everday stamp collections available at Joy Clair, but today, I decided to use the stamp set on a Bible Journaling page.  This year, I have been completing a new Bible Study. One day, while reading Job...Chapter 1 Verse10, and the word 'hedge' was mentioned. The moment I read that word, I knew that I wanted to include a hedgehog while journaling this page.
So below is the final project:

So while I was creating this page, I was so focused, that I forgot to take step by step pictures. I am going to explain the steps below. If you have any questions or need more clarity, please let me know.

Step-by-step tutorial:
  1. Prepare the Bible page with a layer of clear gesso.
  2. Stamp hedgehog images along the side of the page with back ink.
  3. Color in the hedgehogs with a variety of ZIG Clean Color markers and water.
  4. Stamp the word 'HEDGE' using the Soft Letters Alpha stamp set and color in with a green ZIG markers and water.
  5. Color in the background with blue ZIG Clean Color markers and water.
  6. Create the rest of the title for the page using word and alpha stickers.
  7. To fill in some of the empty space, I added a few cloud diecuts.
  8. Stamp the date onto the bottom of the page.
Thank you for stopping by today! Hope you have a 'hogtastic' day!

Reach for the Sky

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! I hope you all had a wonderful week and are ready for the weekend!  It is Spring Break here and we are currently experiencing some beautiful weather. (Not trying to rub into those who are currently dealing with a big snow storm.)

Today I am working with Hampton Art Reach for the Sky stamps and ZIG Clean Color Markers:

I stamped the image onto some watercolor cardstock. Once the ink dried, I used a variety of ZIGs to color in the scene. Recently, I have been seeing a trend were the artist does not fully color in the image. There is white space that is left in a tiny part of the image. I decided to give this technique a try with this card. I have fallen in love with and look forward to using it on future projects. The sentiment is stamped in the bottom corner.

The following ZIG Clean Color Markers were used on this project: 021, 036, 064, 065, and 081

Thank you for stopping by today! Hope you have a great day!
