THE WEDDING!

The wedding was a colourful affaire, the bride wore a gorgeous purple gown with frilled train and the bridesmaids all wore a similar colour but the style was more subdued very Grecian they had long silky wraps and all looked very pretty.

The reception was a pleasent affaire there was even a chocolate fountain with marsh mallows and pieces of fruit to dip  plenty to eat, the cakes was quite plain and strangely it was a coffee cake very unusual I thought, anyway all went off well.

I can hardly believe Katherine is married, she went to school with my daughter Lara and the pair used to come home after school on a Monday, Kat had dinner with us then her mother would pick her up after work and take her home, the pair of them would spend hours drawing and listening to music together, oh my! Where does all the time go, below is a photo of the pair at the reception.

ART TRAIL WEEKEND!

Today is the start of a busy weekend for my daughter and myself.

Lara's best friend is getting married today, Lara is one of the bridesmaids, the dresses her friend chose for her five bridesmaids are in a lovely soft purple, flowing and rather grecian I think they will all look very elegant. Hoping the weather will be ok the sun is out at present so fingers crossed!

This weekend is also our little towns first Art Trail weekend there are over fourty artists and crafters exhibiting their work, either in the several galleries in the town or in their homes or studios, there will be workshops, live music and poetry. Six gardens to visit and many other attractions, including music, dance, theatre etc, etc. The weekend will I think be interesting, we are participating on Sunday only as Saturday is taken up with the wedding. Between us we are exhibiting paintings, art jewellery, silk scarves, soft sculpture and Lara's book for signing.

I think it will be a very fun and interesting weekend for us and hopefully be the first of many more Art Trails.

Blue Bells, one of my necklaces in the Art Trail created especially for the occasion

SPECIAL OFFERS AT KYDO JEWELLERY

I have decided to keep the sale going a little longer at the web site http://www.kydojewellery.co.uk so please do take a look many iterms are deeply discounted some at half price!

It has not been a good start to 2013 for our family, I have not seen my sister or her husband since before Christmas as they were both ill then no sooner had that started to go than they both picked up the dreaded Noro Virus with all it entails, that got better, then last Thursday I phoned my sister and her husband was in bed in agony with back and stomach pains and vomiting violently. I phoned yesterday and he had felt better Saturday then Sunday back to square one! My sister phoned this morning to let me know last night he was taken to hospital now the doctors think he has possible kidney disfunction...!!!

Its a lot to take in and I had hoped so much for the New Year  that things would pick up and maybe even a few sales to cheer me. This was to be a year of trying new things and putting the old behind me if that meant giving up the jewellery so be it; although I will always be making things just for the sake of it, as I can't imagine giving up art in some form it has been a part of my life since I was a small child.

I would love it if you left me a comment or two, I don't often feel so low but right now lots of things seem to be piling up, I expect you know how it is we all get those times! I will leave this post with a picture of a bracelet and earrings I worked on for a wedding.

I hope your New Year has got off to a flying start and I wish you only good things for 2013.

Wedding Pearls

I thought you might like to see a commission I have just finished and sent off three necklaces to a lady in NY for her wedding they are being given to her flower girls to wear on the day. The youngest is only 6years old. The pearls are a pale silky blue with Indicolite Swarovski crystals as the sashes on the little girls dresses are that teal colour, the silver blossoms are off set and small lobster clasps can hook anywhere on the extender chains, which is brilliant as the necklaces will grow with the girls!

Spring Weddings & Inspiration

I am not sure the two always go together but in this case they do, as I have a bridal commision for a May wedding the bride and four bridesmaids, I am halfway through and really enjoying it. How delightful to design something for a big day, no matter whether it be gowns or jewellery. In my case it is jewellery and the colours are silver and purple.

The bride likes a very dainty necklace and happily I had some of the tiniest purple nugget pearls which she fell in love with, so that made a good base to start from. I added purple velvet crystals and some lavendar blue pearl rondels, then she chose a silver filigree flower with clear crystal petals and a centre of lavendar blue, I offset the flower to just below her collarbone, I hope she likes it when she sees it tomorrow.

Well now it is Sunday and my bride loves her necklace! I finished the rest yesterday and have taken a couple of pictures to show the brides and three of the bridesmaids necklaces. The bridesmaids dresses are purple with gold embellishments.

I have also added some of the necklaces we have in our spring sale, you can see them on the right hand side of the page just email if you would like anything!
