Yoda - The Scarecrow
Every year Negley Elementary School in Kyle, Texas holds a scarecrow making contest in October.... I realize I hadn't updated this blog on a regular basis in the last year or so.. but I wanted to share Yoda. This was the creation of My daughter's 4th Grade class... and my neighbor's awesome artistic ability (Brad did the Yoda head cutout... and Jenni painted it)

skee ball |
This is Navitown Arcade at Negley Elementary in Kyle, Texas.
(The school's "mascot" is an alligator named "Navi" because they are the Negley Navigators)
My daughter was one of the kiddos that made a cardboard arcade game as a nod to Caine's Arcade in Los Angeles, California. http://cainesarcade.com/.
Today and tomorrow I'm going to post a few shots I got from the arcade at the school It was REALLY neat.

My 7 year old and the entire 1st Grade Class at my daughter's school has a "Mother Goose" performance on Thursday. It was fantastic. I got some cute photos of the kiddos.. but I thought I'd turn the camera outward and shoot the parents capturing their kids on film.
These kids are singing "Los Pollitos." It's a spanish children's song. Neat.

The annual scarecrow making contest in the Plum Creek Neighborhood happened this last Saturday. The Claes4 made one, a vampire with a trash-can for a head and we WON for scariest. Sweet.
There were a bunch of great ones this year. Love seeing what kids from Negley Elementary and residents of Plum Creek come up with. Here's a few of my favorites.
First.. ours.

AN ode to the unfinished:
(This one was being built as I had to leave... I'll try and take a picture of the final scarecrow and put it up later.)
That's pretty much it for the Kyle Scarecrows in Plum Creek at Negley Elementary. Hope you enjoyed. You can go by the school and see them for yourself...if you're in town.

Part II
Scarecrows are the name of the game. The 2nd annual Scarecrow building competition was held about a week ago at the Negley Elementary School grounds. I'm happy to say that my "Snowy The Scarecrow" took 2nd place (to the Southwest Airlines traveling scarecrow) in Most Original. Last year my broom-headed scarecrow took first ( I had it in my garage so I took it out and it was included in this year's judging and got honorable mention).
Broom Head (vintage 2006 by me)
Aluminum Foil Man has seen better days.
Ghost-crow
Ready to catch a flight...
Perhaps they should have gone for paper....not plastic.
Get wiggy with it...
The grand prize winner
This kid-crow rocks!
Hope you enjoyed these... I thought they were pretty inventive over-all.
Happy Tuesday.
