Doodlelicious Blog Hop

Today some of the Whimsie Doodles' Doodlelicious design team members have decided to get together and host a Thank You Hop in honor of Melyssa Connolly.  Melyssa is the owner extraordinaire of Whimsie Doodles and she creates all those adorable images that you can find in the Whimsie Doodle store.  Our design team term officially ended on June 30th.  We have contemplated a sit in (errr, stamp in) and we all agree the time went by too fast!  Each month Melyssa shared so many fun images with us and we wanted to take the time to say "thanks" and share with you our favorite Whimsie Doodles creation.

So, a huge thank you Melyssa!!!

Now, the hard part, choosing just one creation to reshare!
I decided to go with one of my first projects using Hoot from the Halloween Hootanannies Set.

To see all the details go to the original post from September found HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Here is a list of everyone participating, be sure to hop on over to each of their blogs and say hi!

Have fun hopping!
Smiles,
Julie

Happy 4th!

If you are in the US, Happy Independence Day!

This image is the latest freebie from Whimsie Doodles!  Yes, this cutie is a freebie!  There is also a Canada Day freebie available too!
Want to find out when freebies are being offered?  Be sure to like Whimsie Doodles on Facebook or  follow the blog

My card is for the Outlawz 2,000 member party Greetings Party Challenge - "Your Country".  For me, that means the USA and what better image than one that has sparklers.
The latest Little Miss Muffet challenge is "Sparkle" - I went with rhinestones and stickles.
My family's celebration will be low key this year as the holiday falls in the middle of the week.  We will be home and hopefully the sun finds it's way out so that the kids can play outside and we can do a few fireworks at night.
 Have a wonderful day!
Smiles, Julie

Beach Babe

I live in the United States and the Fourth of July is tomorrow.  We actually already started celebrating by going to see fireworks tonight.  So with that in mind, I decided to pull in some patriotic colors and stars on today's card...Beach Hat Ava put on her star bathing suit, grabbed her striped towel and she is heading to the beach!

My card is based on the final Card Patterns sketch - #172.  I will miss Card Patterns, my Saturday mornings will not be the same without it.  I may not have found time to play along each week, but the sketches were always inspiring and I have been introduced to so many wonderful crafters thru CP.  Fingers crossed that they pass the torch to a new team!

My card is also for the Simon Says Stamp - Sporty and/or Patriotic challenge.

Plus, the Outlawz 2,000 Member party continues and the deadline to play along has been extended.  The Copic / Promarker challenge is to create something that represents where you are from.  Ava represents the USA and the beach - I live in Connecticut which has one border that is shoreline.  The beach is about 1/2 an hour away!

Smiles,
Julie

Good Luck

Don't you just love pennants?  I was inspired by a card Tracy Schultz made found HERE.

I made this card for my boss who recently moved to a different department.  Gator and Friends seemed like the perfect image to send someone best wishes from a group of people (I am the {self} designated card maker for my department).

Note: I finally bought a pennant die (and a coordinating set) from Lil' Inker Designs - the pole won me over and the sentiments in the stamp set cover every occassion - it was hard to resist :>).

Smiles,
Julie

A CAS Guy Card, Plus It's Cute

It's time to play along with the CAS challenge team at The Outlawz.  Today in the USA we are celebrating Father's Day. In honor of the men in our lives, this week's challenge is to create a CAS masculine card.

I created a frame with scrap paper to use as a stencil, then stamped the background.  Clean and Simple, masculine, and I still managed to get some cute in there!

My card is also for the DYSU #76 Boys/Men Masculine challenge.

Smiles,
Julie

Sweet Sweet Sweet

It's time to play along with the CAS challenge team at The OutlawzThis week it is all about the fruits of our creative labors. We challenge you to make a CAS project with a fruit theme. It can be the stamp you choose, the paper, a die cut...maybe you are even inspired by a fruit named ink or cardstock?

Well, is there anything sweeter than "Watermelon" from Whimsie Doodles.  This cutie was perfect for this challenge because she is sweet, sweet, sweet.

Be sure to create your own fruit inspired project and link it up at The Outlawz.

Smiles,
Julie

Christmas Fun

Have you started getting ready for Christmas?  Now is your chance to start and get the chance to win a prize at the same time.  This week's Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenge is ANYTHING GOES!  Easy peasy!

My card is based on this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch #160
Plus I was inspired by a song for the latest Creative Card Crew Challenge, can you guess which one...Santa Claus is Coming to Town (in about 199 days!).
I also wanted to share how I got the green pattern paper to match my image.  I did a stamping no no and colored up my image before I had decided what I was going to do with it.  Usually, at the very least I have patterned paper in mind when I color, but not this time.  Soooo once it was time to put my card together I realized that I did not have any bright green or red patterened paper.  I did have some lighter green paper from Basic Grey (in a scrap pile no less), so I used my green copic over it to get it to match - super easy and I didn't have to buy paper.  Here is a pic with the original green pp at the bottom.

Be sure to check out the rest of the CSAYL team's creations for inspiration and then get crafting!

Smiles,
Julie

I have another new cute Whimsie Doodles image to share with you today...let me introduce "Lady Bug Day"!
This is the sort of image that could be used for so many occasions or just to send a smile!  I definitely need to send out more cards to say "hi".

My card is based on Card Patterns sketch #168.  Always good sketches to be found there.

Smiles,
Julie

Whimsie Doodles' June Release

It's June release time at Whimsie Doodles!
Are you ready for some SWEET images?
How about "Yummy"???

Such a cutie...the LO was inspired by a card I saw by Joanne Basile.  I even stole her idea for the crimping.

Do you see the dimension on the watermelon and bows - I got the idea of using my embosser on the back of part of the image from this card by Cheryl.  Subtle but effective.

Now be sure to check out the rest of the DT {see the sidebar} and the Whimsie Doodle's blog, then start shopping at the store!

Smiles,
Julie

A Bee Among Roses

Today I am sharing another cutie from Whimsie Doodles, BEEatrice.
DSC_0118-1

I paired her up with a new MFT purchase - my first rolled flower die...I finally caved.  Flowers are not something I typically use on a card, but I keep see all the wonderful creations out there and well, you all sold me on it!
This one is for the Creative Card Crew - Dimension Challenge.

Julie

Birthday Painting

Melyssa keeps cranking out the cuteness at Whimsie Doodles.  Right as the May images were being released she added 4 of the most darling little girl images.  Little Artist is my fave and I was inspired to do some "painting" with my copics...

I kept it CAS for the Outlawz CAS challenge to create a Birthday Card.  I grabbed the color combo from the Paper Players - what a fresh and fun pallate.
Smiles,
Julie
