Mid century modern

It’s the first time I’ve got around to playing with these sets from Uniko.

I got inspiration from their blog for this trio….

Using various green inks, I used my stamping platform to stamp the words.
Stamped the present randomly for the background.
Coloured the fussy cut tree and presents with blend pens.

Then I fancied a red version, slightly different but same principal

Finally using Mid Century Modern Wreath builder words that are a bit smaller…

Randomly stamping them down the page, adding a Christmas in black, fussy cut,
and a few gems on top of the little stamped stars.

I’m a bit behind Rudolph Days Challenge for September, but you have until the end of the month,

Also entering Peace on Earth #72 anything goes and a pretty mood board.

Uniko Birthday

Today I'm joining the 10 year celebration of Uniko

I used my Stamparatus so I could hold the work down with a magnet,
then using small brushes inked some bright colours through their stencil,
and I masked off a few parts as I just wanted to use part of it.

I then wanted to scatter some enamel dots for interest,
but instead used them as part of the design
and to hide some places where ink had crept under and blurred the lines.

It's not my best inking effort, but I was still pleased with the result.
I finished with a bold Uniko sentiment

I also noticed a new challenge at Freshly made sketches

this gave me the idea for my NeverBeforeUsed Uniko stencil, so I'm also joining in

NBUS Challenge #35

And because I decided to get inky I'm entering

More or less Fairy magic

Hi there
Continuing on from yesterday.....
...in so far as I made a card for the same friend who supplied yesterdays project.
She loves this kind of thing, whereas it's something I don't get much time for.
However this was easy peasy lemon squeezy!

All it took was a background paper from a craft fair earlier this year,
and a stamp from the same place.
I put the fairy in my Stamparatus, and made her nice and black by repeat stamping with memento ink.
I then added a touch of magic glitter from her wand, following the swirls on the paper background.
Mounted it up et voila!
Hence the more fairy magic, but much less thrown at it :)

She also loves a big card, so I'm hoping she might upcycle this one.
You can see in the bottom picture how good she is with fairies and bling.
She made it for my birthday earlier in the year.
It has loads of extra detail as I hope you can see.

We're starting the day with eggs from a friends chickens...yummy.
Have a Magical Sunday peeps

Sailing Home with Stampin. Up!

Hi there, how's things?!

I think we are all struggling with  life's rich tapestry,
which is one reason I like blogging, to share what I've been up to,
but also to see what fellow bloggers are up to too!

It's hard to find the time for it, but we all do our best,
and if we don't manage to visit and comment as much as we'd like,
we all know in our little crafty community, that it's ok.
Like all good friends, it's the thoughts that count :)

Meantime I'm sharing a fave set from the new catalogue "Sailing Home"
We got to see it at Onstage, and I was lucky to receive the "Birch" background stamp too.
I immediately saw how I could use both together,
but it's taken me since April to try it out!

I love all the elements in the set, so many options for individual elements or whole scenes.

The dies give a professional finish, and saves time!

Above you can see I used gold shimmer paint to edge the card base, to save another layer.
(More on Shimmer paints soon, as I held a fun class with it!)

Under that the picture shows the Birch background,
stamped with the stamparatus using a dauber with different inks.
First I inked in crumb cake, the "mound" (as I saw it).
Using the Stamparatus I was able to daub until I was happy with the effect.
It's a really easy and foolproof way of achieving a multi coloured image.

Below you can see how I placed the lighthouse on the "mound" in the "sea"

If I don't send this one in the post,
I might add one of the adorable metal charm embellishments available in this suite
(Page 145 of the new Annual Catalogue.
Email me if you'd like a copy)

Have a fabulous weekend

Merry Mistletoe Marathon on Rudolph Day

I meant to post this at the weekend.....anyone know where my weekend went?!!
So instead, hopefully, its a mid-week treat,

Merry Mistletoe was the theme of my all day class.
Pinterest to the rescue, for all the following ideas.
It's picture heavy this one, so grab a cuppa first....

One of my favourites....fussy cut some baubles from the fab paper,
stamped a wreath using the Stamparatus and a template in a diamond shape
(probably lots of you-tubes on that)

Using a red fineliner pen, drew string and bows

clockwise from top left....sprigs using the new Punch, the wreath one,
simply stamped plus a paper strip, heat embossed with white powder, ink sponged over the top.

DSP on top stamped beneath, masked and stamped border,
stamped background, layered stamping.

Sprigs stamped and added bells n bow, 4 squares of DSP,
heat embossed with gold, stamped splodge n die cut leaves in gold glimmer
(one playmate made a santa sack with the splodge!)

Used the sprigs to make a tree, strips of DSP (great use of snippets)
wreath embossed then inked gently with dauber to highlight

another favourite...this set is fab for stamping your own backgrounds

Have you noticed the new embossing folders now have a thin line added,
to make lining up even easier.....why didn't they think of that before....
plus a reminder of stamping on santa's sacks

Such a versatile set! who knew?!

Have a good week
