Santorini Wedding

I've been to Santorini to attend my son's wedding as well as having a lovely holiday.
I printed and cut the double sided invites [to James and Claire's specifications] which were sent out last year

The leaves and heart on this one was cut out rather than printed
I also made the cards for the table and to attach to the mini bottles of ouzo
We had silk flowers because real ones die so quickly in the heat
The venue was lovely with panoramic views over the sea, island and volcano
which continued at the restaurant with the sunset in the background
.........
Continuing the brown card theme I made a memory box as a surprise so they could keep all their precious bits and pieces together

And a wedding day card to match

Wedding Cushion

I was at the wedding of one of my nieces on Sunday. It's been 'tradition' over the last few weddings that I've attended that I've made a heart, usually a small embroidered heart although last time I decorated a wooden heart. This time I made a cushion. I cut the letters out with my Zing and used a Heat'n bond backing, then ironed in place. I used wadding so that it would have a quilted feel and embroidered around the letters and hearts with a running stitch. I put more stuffing in the hearts from a cut in the backing fabric, like trapunto quilting.

Wooden Heart

I bought a wooden heart which I altered for the happy couple. I used Golden coarse molding paste to make the raised letters with a card stencil I made. I used my Zing cutter to cut out the stencil. Then paint and a bit of roughing up.

Wedding Heart

I was at a wedding on Friday. I made this heart as a keepsake for them, various laces, embroidery and beads. I chose yellow/lemon as that was the theme - the bridesmaids wore yellow, the groom and men wore yellow waistcoats and ties and there were yellow flowers in the brides and bridesmaid's bouquets, buttonholes, table decorations etc.

The bride wore a lovely beaded lace gown, here is a close up of the bodice.

Lace Hearts

I've been invited to two weddings in September so I've made a heart for each couple.
Different laces on a cotton silk background with hand embroidered lettering and a loop for hanging.

Heart and Wedding

I've been away for a few days in case you had not noticed.
Firstly I went to the wedding of my nephew Carl and his now wife, Jen at Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I made the heart as a keepsake, [the WIP last week] first I stencilled with a doily, then embroidered and beaded on one side, stitched together and stuffed. I thought I would leave the back with just the stencilling.

I'll not show pictures of people at the wedding but I took a picture of the view through the window while we were waiting for the bride.

Back of chair decoration.

Lovely grounds, a half frozen pond, there were ducks in the unfrozen parts. We had a little snow, some fell to earth as the wedding photos were being taken - looked like confetti.

A view of the castle from the pond

Emma & Jack get married

I've been away for a few days to attend my daughter Emma's wedding in London. Emma married Jack at Marylebone Town Hall in the yellow room. I took the photo in the park and my son James took the others including the creative black, white & red one above.
The reception was at Home House, Portman Square and we had photographs taken in the park opposite.

Home House is a Gordgian town house and the interior was designed by Robert Adam [neoclassical style - developer of the 'adams style' fireplaces]
I shall post more photos tomorrow of the lovely wedding dress and beaded bag
