Freezer Paper stencil shirt {tutorial}

Here's a post I did a LONG time ago on freezer paper stencils.
I'm not sure why I haven't done them lately, but here are 2 I made this week.
I thought they'd be cute for our Lorax/Earth Day playdate this weekend.

Grab a shirt, some freezer paper (I found mine at Walmart),
image to make a stencil and fabric paint*
*you can also use regular acrylic paint mixed with Fabric Medium

DSCN7404
I found the Lorax image HERE and the Truffula Tree image HERE

I traced the images onto the unwaxed side of the freezer paper
and used an Exacto knife to cut out the image.

Place the image, wax side down, on the t-shirt and iron.
The freezer paper will stick to the shirt.
Now it's time to paint :)

*make sure to put something between the shirt,
so the paint doesn't soak through to the back of the shirt.

Once the paint dries, slowly peel off the freezer paper and TADA

Super cute shirt!
The best thing about using freezer paper as your stencil paper...
you can basically create anything you'd like!

a pre-k graduation

Here are the highlights of the graduation party
I put together for the lizard's classmates.
Once I saw this tutorial from Paula of Frog Prince Paperie
I knew what treats I would make.
Of course, I had to fill them with something -
One Smart Cookie was the perfect theme!

Mary Beth of Nothing But Country
gave me the idea of the Graduation Cap Brownie Bites.

I found 2 acrylic carafes from Wal-Mart -
worked perfectly for serving milk.

The table was finished off with my yarn tassel
(inspired by The Purple Pug).

The graduating class did a great job.
The lizard made us very proud!!

skinny snowman

I saw this snowman at my mom's so I thought I'd share him with you.

This was a project from 2 years ago, BB (before blogging).
I saw the idea for Snowman Pavers in a magazine.
Family Fun, I believe.  I looked all over for those funny shaped pavers.  Never found them.  So I settled for thin ones (they were ~.40 a piece).
I sprayed them white..added a felt scarf
(no pattern needed..just cut strips of felt & snipped the ends to look like fringe).
Added poms and pipe cleaner for earmuffs.
Googly eyes, pom for a nose & mouth drawn on with my fave black Sharpie.
I was lucky enough to have a collection of buttons
from my great-grandmother.
I made several of these little guys and gave them as gifts
to my mom, aunts and uncle.
(it was their grandmother's buttons)

I realize that snowmen are usually round and much bigger...
but hey, I live in Florida :)
Sometimes you gotta work with what you've got!

Wednesday wreath (and a giveaway)

I haven't stopped thinking about making a tulle wreath since I saw this one from

A quick trip to Joanns (a stop at the 2/$5 aisle) and I had my supplies.
I picked 3 different colors of tulle.  I cut ~15 10" pieces of each color*
(I really didn't measure so I'm guessing at the length)
I used a floral wreath from Dollar Tree.
(I recycled it from my spider wreath)

Couldn't be easier...just start tying the pieces onto the form.
I double-knotted each piece.
After using all the pieces - here it is:

I have to say..the other side looks pretty cool too

I have tons of tulle left over.
Expect to see it at my Thanksgiving dinner!

Speaking of wreaths...would you like to win this too cool Christmas wreath??

Lelan from Hello, Good Gravy!
is giving away her wool felt looped holiday wreath!
(she made it herself)
I'm a HUGE fan of Lelan!
She's funny, super talented and quite a crafty chick!
Head over to her blog to enter.

Our Halloween

The Halloween party was a huge success.  I will post about it this week (promise).
Here's a sneak peek.

One of the few 'healthy' things we had - ha!
Mini waters with Halloween themed silly bands.
I made the labels myself (not as fancy as some but super easy)

and because I'm a proud mama...here's my little princess and 'scary' ghost.
The tutu is from Brandi at Tweedle Dee Designs.
I was lucky enough to win it a while back - the ladybug LOVES it!!

It's not too early to start thinking of Christmas...Me Making Do is hosting A Crafty Creative Christmas starting today (and lasting until November 5th).  A week full of bloggers (including ME) sharing some fun ideas to get you ready for the holidays!

easy favor Friday...

Last weekend, we had a last minute family gathering at our house.
We were ordering pizza...no biggie.
I'm a huge fan of favors/goodies/take-aways - even if it's a super casual get-together.

I have LOTS of m&m's (don't ask...but I know a guy) so I decided those would be my favors.  I also picked up some really cute paper doilies from $ Tree 36/$1
(I have a few projects in mind for them) so I used a few of those.
I also used some orange ribbon I already had.
I recently found these Fall themed printables from Crafty Workin Mommy.
Not only did Terri create cupcake toppers, she also created bag toppers AND labels.
Oh..and they are all free :) - Thanks Terri!

Here's a close up of my basically free favor - pretty cute, I must say.
And yes, that's football field scrapbook paper as my runner.
It was Sunday/football afternoon.

Here's my 'centerpiece' - my goodwill 3 tiered server
and yes..those are football shaped Oreos :)

I got to thinking...these would make great favors any time.  Especially if you're tailgating or just having people over to watch a game (or all, if you're the husband).

I found the Fall themed M&M's today.

A handful + a snack size ziploc baggie + raffia/ribbon = super easy (portable) treat.

more cheap Halloween fun

remember yesterday's post?
I bought 2 bags of rattan balls from Dollar Tree (6/$1)
- I need to get more.
I used some of them to make the orange and black filler - cute.

To be honest, the reason I actually bought them was to make spiders.
Here are all of my supplies :)

I threaded the pipe cleaners through the rattan
(I thought of cutting the pipe cleaners hot gluing them on the sides...then I thought, forget it - just poke it through and bend)

What's better than 1 cute spider???  A bunch of cute spiders!

and on a totally unrelated subject...I'm the proud owner of http://www.lizardnladybug.com/
Woo Hoo!!
