Spring!!

It is officially Spring!
Can someone tell the weather?
I see some blooms here and there so it won't be long I hope, but for those still digging out of snow, it's just not fair!
The Avon Bunny Collection has made it's way out to the shelves and cubbies.
Along with the other bunnies that have found a home with me over the years!
I have finally gotten back to watercolors again.  I need to put in much more practice.  This is the tree in my front yard...Fall and Spring.

Scout wanted some 'pretty dresses Grammie' so I stopped at a thrift shop and hit the jackpot!
Three dresses for well under $20
One was brand new with tags.
My favorite of the dresses!
She wore the blue one which is long to the ground and played in it all night saying it was her Princess dress.
I was so proud of myself for not buying anything else but these dresses.
I'm really trying to cut down on my thrifting, well, because of space.
My friend Donna loves her 'frozen Charlottes' and gifted me one last year.  Donna has started doing Friday Frozen Charlotte stories on IG.  I wanted to join in!  So...
My frozen Charlotte was playing hide and seek, but it wasn't much fun by herself.  Donna to the rescue.
A gift in the mail!
These girls came to join in the fun!
Photos soon of the Frozen Charlotte Triplet Adventures!

Blogging friends are the best!
I've been a follower of Sharon at
Queen of Fifty Cents for years.  She truly finds the best things for less money then most anyone else I know.  I love to follow her adventures.
Back in December Sharon found a bunch of great toys.  Several Steiff stuffed animals including a couple of Tigers.  I mentioned how much I love the Tigers since it's my Grandson's name and we collect them.  Sharon then gifted me with this Tiger!
He is so cute and sits on the back of this chair at my house.  My Tiger loves him and so do I.  Thank you Sharon for sharing such a generous find with me!

I am finally getting some energy back after surgery and I'm looking forward to getting some things done around my home.  More cleaning and downsizing for sure.  I find I really do want a less cluttered home, but I have a long way to go.  I'm better at bringing things in then taking them out it seems.

Wishing you Joy,

Linda

Healing!

Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers for my surgery.  It went well and now to heal up and get on with life.
Right before surgery selfie! I think I had some sleepy drugs onboard already!
The Surgeon did find 3 hernias instead of just one and told Sara that 2 of them were caused by my gallbladder surgery 18 months ago.  I am hearing it is a possible complication from laparoscopic surgery.  I'm wearing a lovely 'binder' to keep that from happening again I hope.  The healing will take 6-8 weeks.

I pulled out my collection of white pottery and I'm enjoying it in the cubbies and in the bookshelf.
I have a few other white pieces that are on other shelves but I forgot to take a photo.  Whoops!
I pulled out the blue glass and sheep for the other cubbie.  I see some of this leaving my possession soon.  I am still in downsize mode.

In some very sad news, my Mom's cat Sam crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
He was 17 and had been sick but hanging in there until the Friday morning of my pre-op. Mom called and said we had to take him now.  Our wonderful Vet helped us take the next steps and we are thankful for her compassion and kindness.
We all miss him.  Mom most of all.
One of my favorite photos.
Tiger said he was being a cat and hanging out with Sam.
 We miss you old boy!

So it's been a hard couple of weeks here at A La Carte.  My daughter Sara has taken great care of me!  My Mom has been cooking and checking on me several times a day.  I'm still in some 'pain' and a bit of discomfort but it gets better everyday.  The worst part is not being able to do much.  Lots of watching TV and trying to read (it's been putting me to sleep though).  I'm taking it easy like I'm suppose to and letting the healing happen!

Wishing you all JOY,

Linda

April 7th Is A Special Day!

Today is one of my favorite days.  Six years ago my little Tiger was born and I became a Grandma!
I was over the moon with joy and I still am.  He brings so much fun and love to my life.  We will be celebrating later with pizza, cake and of course gifts!

Scout will have a birthday on Easter Sunday!
Eating Ice Cream is always fun!

I missed Watercolor Wednesday this week but will be back next week I hope.  April is a busy month but I'm finding bits of time here and there to paint.

Speaking of Easter...
My little bunnies and a lamb came out to visit the cubbies!
I have seriously downsized my rabbit collection once again, saving only my favorites!  I love both of these found at a thrift shop years ago.
The Avon bunny collection grows with the addition of the large egg cup bunny found last year.
Two of my favorite bunnies came out to play.  I did not realize until editing the photo that I had arranged them in a rather 'risque' way.  Whoops...you know what they say about bunnies!

That's better!  Still one of my better thrifty finds at .88 each!

We had some horrible storms Wednesday that hit a lot of the country.  Now it's sunny but colder.  Still better then that rain.  I think I better go wrap some birthday boy's gifts!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!
This is a Google Doodle and I'm in love with it!
I made a Pinterest Board with Google Doodles!
What are Google Doodles?
Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists.
Here are a few other 4th of July Google Doodles I found

and this one!
I think I know what I'll be doing all day!

My cubbies for the 4th of July!

Birds Everywhere!

I love my bird collection and in Spring enjoy seeing them in the cubbies.  Even as crazy as life is right now I took the time to let them fly around!
I've been collecting birds for several years now. They just make me smile.
The vintage pink and blue bird planter is a recent find on Etsy.  It is so cute and a perfect addition to my collection.
A few little 'tweets' just for you (did you see the tiny cat in the cubby?)
This adorable little egg cup was a sweet gift from my friend and fellow egg cup collector Claudia!
I love that face!
Claudia is also a collector of McCoy pottery and this green and brown bird planter flew in my home after seeing one on her blog.  She is a bad?good? influence on me :)

On a personal note, my daughter Ashleigh will be here this weekend for a visit.  It will be wonderful to have a Mother's Day with both of my daughters, my Mom, my son in law and my two grands all together!  Life is good.

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

Expresso Cups

The first year I attended the World's Longest Yard Sale and before I was a blogger I 'started' a collection with one buy.
Expresso or small coffee cups
Here are two of the cups that started the collection
along with these two.  All four seem to be from cafe's in Brazil.  I was going to buy one but the seller said take them all for the price of one...sold!
Since then I've added a few more to the collection.  Both of these cups are from Starbuck.
(the bunnies are from my daughter's collection)
The back cup is a New Orleans souvenir cup and the front cup is from Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
I am not the one who 'took' this from the restaurant but gladly bought it at a thrift shop.
I've eaten at this amazing restaurant once and a small butter plate might have found it's way into my purse after a few glasses of wine.  I never do that sort of thing now!
Included in this collection are a few small coffee cups from airlines...also found at thrift shops
These are also Airline coffee cups
National Airlines and Pan Am
A restaurant ware cup and a cute little modern expresso cup, both thrift shop finds
These are two fun cups, small in size so they joined the collection!

Hope you enjoyed my little collection and no,
I don't drink expresso!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

A Little Easter Bunny Fun!

At Easter I like to display my Bunny collection
along with some fun Egg Cups!
Some vintage some new, almost all thrifty finds.
I have a eclectic collection for sure!
I've had these Peter Rabbit books in English and French since I was 16!
I got this bunny egg holder at World Market a few years ago.
My faux eggs fill it nicely.
A few of the fun Easter egg cups I've collected!
One more bunny in a small vignette!
These two egg cups are my newest finds!
The white one is unmarked but has a pretty border of flowers and a raised flower design on the white part, I paid .99 for it.  The turquoise egg cup is a Harlequin egg cup from the Homer Laughlin company.  Read more about that company HERE.
I found this egg cup at Goodwill and it was a surprising .77,  Score on both of these!
I hope you enjoyed my funny bunnies!
I'll be sharing my Easter tablescape next week!

Wishing you JOY,

Linda
