NEW: Homespun Holidays!

My newest Class in a Kit is live on the Paper Anthology website, called Homespun Holidays and has a strong winter/seasonal theme, rather than a particular holiday. It looks a bit like this:

All of the stamping and diecutting has been done for you; and a detailed set of instructions, with individual photos of each card, is provided. You'll need only basic cardmaking tools and a few adhesives to finish these three sweet and cozy cards. The hardest part will be deciding which friends to send them to!

March/April Classes...

...at Paper Anthology. If you happen to be within driving distance of Kenvil, NJ, in Morris County, I'd love to see your face in da place! :)

“I Like Big Blooms and I Cannot Lie!”

A2 cards couldn’t hold this profusion of Dare-2B-Artzy Doodle Flowers, so we’ve leveled up to A7’s! We’ll use Targeted Smooshing (a technique I just made up, lol!) to make two luscious ColorBurst backgrounds and the larger flowers; then switch over to a bit of traditional stamping with solid flower stamps and Archival Inks.  We’ll also get to play with the new flock transfer sheets by Thermoweb!  These cards look equally nice with or without various sentiments, so students can choose to make two spring cards, two Easter cards, or two cards without sentiments which could be sent at Passover or even to mark a spring birthday or special occasion!

Collage Logic Technique Workshop:

I'll share my favorite collage techniques and exercises as well as some vintage and found papers during this workshop-style class. Students will make a book-ring full of ATC’s which illustrate what we learn, as a reminder they can take home, add to, and use in their own work. We’ll discuss supplies, substrates, scale, layout, etc; and address whatever questions individual students bring. We’ll concentrate on techniques which can be adapted to journals and cardmaking, but there will be a little bit of everything, including cut vs. torn paper backgrounds, ink over collage, minimalist layouts, translucent layers, stapled collage and the diabolical “Glue As You Go” Exercise which may become an obsession!

Check out the Paper Anthology Class Page for all the details and for other fab classes taught by Elisabeth Ostrowski and Shari Morris! ♥

January/February Classes at Paper Anthology

Time to show off the first new classes of the year at Paper Anthology in Kenvil, NJ. If you're in the Morris County area, I'd love for you to join me! All the details are on the Paper Anthology Class Page.

Shabby Chic Envelope Journal

We'll construct the easiest journal EVER (hint: it's made out of A2 envelopes but works with any size; you will LOVE this trick!) and then add just enough shabby chic detail to make a lovely gift for someone special, maybe YOU?! There will still be room to decorate and customize by adding photos, ephemera, text or... whatever! This would be perfect for celebrating a special birthday or anniversary; documenting a dream vacation; remembering baby's first year or recording favorite quotes, dreams or ideas. There will be a choice of Blue Fern Studio papers (mostly neutral colored, with botanical accents) to customize each book, so it will be possible to "lean" toward more masculine or more feminine in style.

Letter Better
(limit 6 per class, so each student will get some one-on-one time)

This workshop-style class is open to students of all levels, whether you've never lettered before OR just want to brush up your skills. You'll get to try several types of pen on various papers and leave with a better idea of what specific skills to practice in ways that are actually FUN!  In addition to demonstrating some popular lettering styles and sharing her favorite tips and tricks, Lauren will work individually with each student to address specific challenges or areas of interest. All supplies will be provided, however students who own lettering pens they'd like to practice with are welcome to bring them.

November/December Classes...

...at Paper Anthology have been posted and there are some AWESOME ones this time around! Oh and if you attended the eighth anniversary party over the weekend, be sure to check out the newsletter post because the names of the five lucky raffle winners are in there! Meanwhile here's what I'll be teaching the next two months:

Vintage-Style Collage Ornaments

We’ll combine vintage paper, collage techniques, stenciling, modeling paste, gems, flowers, doilies… in short, we’ll combine ALL of my favorite things and use them to decorate your choice of three small papier-mache ornaments that will make beautiful holiday gifts, *IF* you can bear to give them away!
(NOTE: There are many additional ornament shapes, including bells, angels, stockings, mittens, birdhouses and more; but only two or three of each style. Students will get to choose on a first come, first served basis.)

 Heavenly Hero Arts Holiday

What do you get when you mix beautiful brand new Hero Arts dies with Prima Marketing's “Angelique” collection papers from the vaults? Three bright and beautiful cards that shimmer and sparkle in their own unique way!

Just a reminder that Paper Anthology is located at 717 Highway 46 in Kenvil, NJ and all the details for all the awesome classes can be found on the website! ♥

September/October Classes...

...are posted for this "semester" at Paper Anthology in Kenvil, NJ. There are loads of great offerings from Elisabeth Ostrowski and Shari Morris, so be sure to check the class page for all the details. Meanwhile here's what I'll be teaching this time:

Gel Plate Playdate

Are you curious about  gel printing? Wish you could try some techniques before investing in supplies? Maybe you have a gel plate, but aren’t quite sure what to do with it? Then Lauren’s workshop-style class is for you! You’ll get hands-on experience with the basic techniques, on several popular sizes and shapes of gel plate, using acrylic paint and even a bit of hybrid ink. We will not be completing a traditional finished project, but you’ll leave with your own beautiful hand-printed papers, LOTS of ideas, and the confidence to go home and try them out!
(Note: This class will be limited to 6 students so that everyone will receive some one-on-one instruction with Lauren.)

FIN-tastic Tall Cards

We’ll make two fab and fishy all-occasion CODS (or cards, lol) that feature no coloring, but manage to incorporate stamping, paper piecing, diecutting, a little bit of stenciling and lots of fussy cutting! This is your oppor-TUNA-ty to have OCEANS of fun!
(Note: these cards will fit into your own standard #10 envelopes for mailing!)

Just in case you're wondering WHERE Kenvil, NJ is, it's in Morris County NJ, near where route 80 and route 10 converge. Here is a handy map!

July and August Classes

It's time for another new "semester" of classes at Paper Anthology in Kenvil, New Jersey. There are lots of excellent ones this time, so be sure to check out the Class Page on the website. Meanwhile, here's what I'll be teaching:

Hand Lettering: Fake It Til You Make It

When it comes to beautiful brush lettering there is (alas) no substitute for practice, practice, PRACTICE. But… I know one or two excellent “cheats” that will instantly make your own lettering (or even your stamps and diecuts!) look more polished. Part of it just comes down to having the right tools for the job and knowing how to use them; factors which we will explore while making two beginner-friendly 5×7 panels that students can make into cards, journal pages or decor after class. All supplies and pens to practice with will be provided, however students who own brush pens are welcome to bring their favorite colors to class!

Christmas in July and August: Let it Snow!

What’s more refreshing than the thought of cold crisp snow in the middle of a hot New Jersey summer? We’ll make three bold holiday cards featuring a variety of tiny dies with BIG style, including Tim Holtz’s “Mini Snowglobes” and Sizzix Sidekick “Winter” sets. Please note that some of the components really are small, so students will definitely want to bring their tweezers, fine-tipped adhesive and reading glasses!

If you're within driving distance of Morris County, NJ (take route 80 to State Highway 46 *or* consult this map!) we'd love to see you. All the details are on the Class Page of the Paper Anthology website! ♥
