cough, sniff, sneeze... PEEE-EEW Poo Pests...."Rock" it solution... & My LOVES!!!

So I have been absent again for a while now... what is up??? Well our months of January & February have been filled to the brim with this cold and that cold.... Strep throat, croup, fevers, tummy aches, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, phlegm galore! Nothing super serious, just the obnoxious winter aliments that seem to plague one family member after the next and back again. So I feel like I have had a good excuse to take a leave of absence. Thankfully, we are all feeling great, I better get blogging :)  I have some catching up to do!
Even though everyone here at the Zito house has felt like this...
It doesn't stop us from one project or two :)

So we have been having a smelly, pesty, poo problem over here at the Zito's. And NO, it is not the tummy aches causing the trouble ;) You see, our front yard has recently been transformed into the neighborhood cat litter box...
By these furry critters, some call pets. My problem is with the multiple Stray cats and people's "pets" that they let roam free has marked my front yard as their personal toilet. I have NOT been happy about this problem at all. I have been wanting to catch these little poop bandits red handed, but they are sneaky little stinks!!!

I don't have pets for this reason. I don't want to clean up after them. I am allergic to cats too. so there! ;) I don't mind cats from a distance. If you want them as a pet, GREAT!!! just keep your pet at YOUR house and not crapping in my yard :) ~ SMILES ~
Every morning I wake up to a fresh pile of poo right here by the front door of my home. Trust me it STINKS!!!!
I've looked online for homemade cat deterrents... i have used and entire bottle of vinegar, cayenne pepper, orange peels... and everyday I am left a little "present"!!!
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I want to pull my hair out. I am seriously having dreams while I sleep about these stinking stray cats. I toss and turn. I hate the horrid smell and the mess I get to clean up! This has got to stop!
This is what I think the neighborhood cats think of all my cat deterrent home remedies!!!
Alright Mr. Smelly Poo.... THIS IS WAR!!!!!

I picked up this Critter Ridder powder at my local home depot and....
I picked up his POO for the LAST TIME!!!!

I am pulling out the BIG GUNS NOW!!!! 8 ton of rock has been delivered to my house and I plan to cover your stinky poop hole with 4-5 inches of rock.... That'll teach ya :)

All I need is a trusty wheel barrow, a good solid shovel, a fresh pair of hands & my Studly Hubby Lenny to GET er' DONE!!
I like to call it TEAM WORK! :)

Not to mention, the rock in our yard has dwindled down to mere thin blanket barely covering our precious dirt floor that the cats have adopted as their personal pooping grounds. We have lived in our home for 10 years.... (wow happy anniversary to us ;) and all the years of yard work, we have pretty much tossed handfuls of rock with every yard cleaning. It was time to get our yard looking crisp and clean. The Pesty Poo problem is just the motivation I need to finally fork out the dough on more rock to beautify our landscaping.
8 TON of Rock is a 8 TONS of rock = Countless wheelbarrow trips! Made for a super good workout for Leonard and I. He shoveled the rock and dropped me piles of rock in the yard. I raked them into place. HOLY AB workout! :) my arms and hands were blasted. But it was worth all the sweat and pain...because guess who I scared away???

OH YEAH!!!! Eat that you stinky, sneaky, dander ridden, paw lickin, MR. CAT YOU!!!
HA!!! Not only did I smother your pooping grounds, our yard looks AMAZING!!!
oooh, aaah!!! so crisp and clean :)
The Old Poop Pit.... Now 4-5 inches thick of Desert Brown 1" screened rock :)

Come on you can OOOH and AAAAH if you want to :)

The backyard even got some loving TLC too! I feel like we moved to a new home :) Gotta love home improvement projects and winning the WAR over pesty neighborhood cats! YESSSS!!!!

~ FEELING THE LOVE ~
My last Post was my Valentines Home decor post!
We were ready for the LOVERS Holiday :)
My sweet Lover surprised me with a yummy delicious valentine treat! Not 1 dozen of Chocolate covered strawberries, but 2 dozen Chocolate Covered Strawberries!!! Talk about Spoiled with a capital S! :)

I was so glad to have so many yummies... so i could gladly share with all the Loves in my life, namely... Leonard, Kaitlyn, Carly & Blake.  Thank you Leonard! I love you so much! You are my everything :)

~ Treats for my Sweets ~
I love my little Valentines and I am so blessed to have 3 awesome kids!
I made these sweets to celebrate our LOVE day and to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our great state of Arizona! She turned 99 this year! She's looking good ;)

Oh, I had to share this sweet little munchkin that is the most recent addition to the family.
Meet Rook James Zaccardi
Born Jan 18, 2011
This handsome guy belongs to my sweet sister Celeste and her hubby Matt.
It has been quite the rocky journey for Rook's mom and dad to get him here.
Rook's daddy Matt was in that serious, near fatal dirt bike accident back in september 2010. Celeste was 5 months pregnant with this little guy. Matt was in the ICU for 22 days with a serious brain injury and a badly broken leg. then in the neuro rehab hospital for 9 days. He has had extensive physical therapy.  While he was in the hospital they closed on a new home and life was very crazy and stressful. Thank heavens for Priesthood blessing and the power of fasting and prayers, because Matt is doing remarkably well. It is truly a miracle! Matt is walking again and back to work. In fact, the week he was "allowed" to walk was the same week the baby was born. Wow, what a blessing!
Van is the big brother and he loves little baby Rook! We are so happy to have our Zaccardi family close by. They are a blessing in our life! We LOVE You Guys! Congrats!

I HEART my PARKA!!!!
This is a very random blog post isn't it??? Well, speaking of LOVES.... I did get my Swim Parka right before Christmas. I really started putting it to good use in between illnesses in January as I braved the FREEZING early morning temperatures to head to the pool and swim with my my narwhals.... a.k.a. Mesa Masters Swim Team :)
Doesn't it look so Warm??? well it is and when I get home from the pool I have a hard time taking it off. It is so cozy and comfy and warms my chilled bones :)
My favorite part of my fancy parka, Is my NAME embossed on the front! I feel special wearing it :) I can't lie!
I can't believe I have almost been swimming with Masters for a year, this spring break. WOW!!! Time flies! I think I am a better swimmer by now. I am ashamed to say I did take off a month as I prepared for my 150 mile bike ride, (looking back, that was a mistake!)  and then I was injured on that blasted ride which kept me from the pool for at least 2 months or so :(

It made me very sad. I feel like I lost all my momentum. I was started to forget my love of the water and glide of my freestyle. The longer I stayed away... the easier it got to forget and then I turned into a chicken when I was cleared to head back to the pool.  I finally mustered up the courage last month and started going again, a pretty regular 4-5 days a week. It was scary, it was hard and I was SLOW!!! I felt like I had to re-learn to swim. I have had some discouraging days... but I am just trying to get back into the habit again. " Just keeping swimming" as Dori on Finding Nemo says  ;)  There is a National Swim Meet in the end of April. It will be hosted at my pool, Kino and I am tinkering with the idea of competing... but then I get really scared and I feel sick thinking about signing up... I am not that fast!? I don't want to come in last???   I am still trying to find the Old Loree.  " Just keep swimming" is the only thing that is keeping me going! I know I will get back up to speed. Just give it some time :) And I am more than happy to wear my fancy schmancy Parka all day long to remind me of that goal... just keep swimming :)

My other goal is to get back out on the running trails. I wore out my old running shoes and I just got me a fresh pair last week. I never thought I would miss running... well it is more like slow jogging :) and I miss it. Especially noticing how all my clothes are tightening up during my 2 month exercise break. boo hiss! I actually haven't run since july.... way to long.... note to self.... don't take that long of a break ever again if you can help it!
I plan to get these bad boys all dirty and dusty and hopefully I will wear out the soles too! Wish me luck!
Motivation only comes when you move... the more you get moving the more motivated you become!

I wish motivation came easily and first... but it isn't until i really get moving that I feel motivated. Does that make sense?

Talk about Motivation...
My Lenny is a STUD!!! A crazy one some may think... He is my inspiration. He is doing a ultra-distance cycling event. They call it a brevet... (pronounced  bree - vay) it is 4 races in the event and he has already accomplished 2 of these crazy rides. The first one was 200k or 125 miles in one ride. 2nd race was a 300k or 190 miles in one sitting and this weekend he is setting out to conquer the 400k race which is 257 miles in one sitting. Can u believe it? My sit bones just ache thinking about that amount of sitting in the saddle. He is estimating it will take about 22 hours of riding straight. He is hoping to shaving a hour or 2 off that estimate. He is riding with a good cycling buddy... one who i have previously referred to as " our Bike Guru, Mike" I still think he holds that awesome title :)  anyhow, The last race in this series is a 600k or 380 mile journey... riding your bike     the      entire     time!.... although, this ride there is a sleep stop. so that is good. This fun ride will be in the middle of March. If you'd like to read all about the nitty gritty details and stats, check out Leonard's blog here!

I have been on my bike several times this year... it has been bothersome to my arms/hands. (stinking nerve damage - i don't like you!) although, I did just get another bike fit adjustment and I took it out for a spin yesterday and I am hopeful that I too will be back on the bike like the good ol' days!

Man oh man, another LOOONG blog post from me! Thanks for reading or browsing, and then going back when you have time, or are bored and want to read this long post ;) hee hee hee!

THE MEGA POST!!!!
Sounds like fun hu?  I know ;) If you haven't noticed, I haven't been updating as often as I use to. Not really sure where my funk has been, other than I have been running around with my head chopped off and when I could be updating my own blog... I stalk and read yours instead :)

But friends and family, I will not let you down on this major catch up post today.... I realize it might take a couple days to read this entire post.... but you know you want to right :) hee hee!

I like to think of it as an ALL YOU CAN EAT SMORGASBORD OF Blogging Goodness I have been saving up for you all today :)

Without further ado... you are about to get stuffed to the gills with the June 2010 Zito Family Recap :)

Many of you know we are a family of Swimmers.
Summer is the girls favorite time of the year because they get to swim their little arms & legs off on the Swim Team. They are swimming with Fremont Flying Fish this year and are loving every minute.
It seems to get tougher every year as the competition grows fierce. But the Zito Girls are up to a challenge! :)

June 10th - First Meet of the Season... FREESTYLE
Carly is ripping up the water. She came in 5th place individual and 1st in team relay! 25 meters...you go girl  :)

Since my Kaitlyn is getting so old. She doesn't get to swim until all the little kids are done with their races and by then, the sun goes down. It makes it hard to get a good picture! BUMMER!!!  She did great though! Once you turn 11... you graduate to swimming with the big kids... and double the distance... 50 meters... so she gets to master flip turns...teach me teach me!!! :)

Kaitlyn got 5th place in individual and 3rd in team relay! We are so proud of our swimmers!!!

"I'm BORED!"

Oh heavens, not yet!!! Summer just got here!  So to cure our boredom, the girls spent and afternoon making their own friendship bracelets! They did great :)
Carly's bracelet is GROOVY and Kaitlyn's Ring is SWEETNESS :)

Blake was feeling left out....

He wanted to go to swim team too....so, we arranged his own "Swim Team" swimming lessons with Miss Emilee! Blake made us proud! 2 weeks of swim lessons and he is a future little swimmer in the making as well. It HAS to be in his blood :)
His favorite part of swim lessons was.... motor boat, diving for rings and wow can he kick and he blows AWESOME bubbles.  Hooray for Blakey Boy! :)

~ BIRTHDAYS ~
Both my parents celebrated Birthdays in June and we had Birthday celebrations for both.
I only got pics of my mom's b-day....oops! sorry dad :)
Isn't this birthday lady and beauty?! I Know!
I love you mom!
Family loving the PARTY and cake of course.... oh there is the birthday boy in the bottom middle pic! Love you dad! :)

Is there a Dr. in the House????

My brother in law did it! He worked hard the past 4 years in dental school and on June 12th, he graduated from Dental school! We are so proud of him! What an accomplishment! My sister Ann is so so sooo happy he is finally done! Aren't they a cute family? :) So folks, if you need a cavity filled or good teeth cleaning Dr. Cooper is your man! :) Hooray!!!!

While Dr. Cooper and his wife headed to the Dominican Republic to relax and celebrate on the beach, we had fun having Claire & Ethne hang out with us a few days :)
We painted our own sun catchers
oooh aaahhhh

So pretty!

Another day we sculpted and created our own erasers
Wow those are AWESOME!!! Eraser clay is sweet stuff. just mold into your fantastic shape and bake at 250 for 10 minutes :) they really work too :)

We indulged in some yummy patriotic cupcakes! YUM :)

And of course we hit the pool!
Do you like my little Mermaids??? and one handsome little MerMan :)
What Lovely mermaids we have here. So glamorous.
Claire is head over heels in LOVE with mermaids. The girls got creative and made their own tail by squeezing both legs in to one pant leg in their PJ pants. It was pretty cute! They had a ball pretending to be mermaids. I remember doing the same thing when I was little :)
Tricks & Dives

Look at my mermaids go! oh and my cute little merman too :) Love you Apple, Pearl, Sapphire, & Aquamarine....aka Ethne, Carly, Claire, Kaitlyn :) I LOVE your imagination!

Back Stroke Swim Meet  - June 17th
Another AWESOME meet for both girls.
Carly came in 2nd individual & 3rd Team Relay
Kaitlyn came in 3rd individual & 1st Team Relay
You are both ROCK STARS!!!!

Happy BIKE-IVERSARY to me :)
I've been riding my road bike for 3 years now and it was time for an UPGRADE :) Leonard & I have been working hard and saving up to upgrade both our road bikes and we LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Them.... oh did I mention that we LOVE our new bikes? :)
This is me... happy as can be for my first ride on this beauty :)

My handsome man and his new sweet ride.

So pretty fancy hu? We ended up buying our new bikes at Global Bikes in Gilbert and they gave us a fantastic trade in for our old bikes. So upgrade we did, in deed :)

My bike is a Specialized Roubaix Pro...pronounced roo-bay :) It is beyond sweetness!
Full carbon fibre frame, crank, handlebars...actually the entire bike is carbon ...even the hubs in my wheels are carbon...which means light as a feather...and makes Lenny a little jealous :). hee hee :) that makes a girl happy... oh not about making leonard jealous just at the lightness :)
SRAM Red Components...the BEST top of the line gearing and shifting on the market. Compact crank for climbing up all the hills and mountains I plan to climb... oh yeah!  Can you say fancy pants? but this fancy ride is worth every penny to me.. it makes for the smoothest, fastest ride.  Best bike on the market for endurance rides... in my humble opinion ;)

Leonard's handsome sleek new baby is also a Specialized Roubaix. It is a little step down from mine. He has the Expert and I have the Pro. Now let me explain. Leonard bought his back back in April and this bike was the exact one I was gonna buy too. It has a full carbon frame and great components too but the Pro is just bit lighter and higher components. His bike is also a compact crank...great for climbing. Anyway, when it was my turn to go bike shopping they were all sold out in this bike and the only option was to upgrade to the pro. Well dang it, twist my arm... i had no choice but to go PRO! Although, I truly did feel bad about having a sweeter bike than Lenny, I was ready to walk away from the deal but my good ol lenny insisted and so there you have it....
it is official...
I HAVE THE BEST HUSBAND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!
Take a closer at the details. gorgeous hu?
New Helmets are the cherry on top. :)
Some people buy boats, quads, cars, other toys .... we buy bikes... We run on Zito Power!
We look forward to the 1000's of miles we will be putting on these babies!
I LOVE MY BIKE!!!

~14 years of Boyfriend Bliss ~
Leonard & I finally had the opportunity to head out of town for a little weekend romantic getaway.
You read my little title correct. I have enjoyed having the Best Boyfriend in my life for almost 14 years now. We met back in July 1996 and it was Love at first sight.
This sweet man swept me off my feet in a little AZ town called Show Low, 14 years ago and we decided to re-live our glory days together to relax and enjoy some well needed time together.
We stayed at the nicest hotel in Show Low I believe... Hampton Inn! We upgraded our room to have a balcony and a great view! It was perfect. We couldn't get enough of the fresh mountain air. It smelled so good.
We took an afternoon to go on a little 100 mile road trip through Eagar & Springerville to Greer & Sunrise ski resort, to McNary and Hondah to Pinetop & Lakeside. It was a nice ride & it was raining...even better! Haven't seen rain in ages. We were checking out the route for bike race Leonard is thinking about riding in. This ride was also memorable because Leonard served his mission up here in the mountains 15-16 years ago and it was fun to hear stories of places he served.

So this is GREER!!! I have never been here. All the advertisements say it is a little piece of green heaven here in greer and the coldest place in AZ. I would have to agree that is was little, it was green and it was cold. we left 110 degrees in the valley and shivered in a brisk 54 degrees! It was lovely. We saw a couple cabins we would love to own in Greer. Maybe one day.

PS... There is a cabin resort here that we passed and almost booked and stayed here. but I am glad we didn't it is very crammed together and not secluded like they make it sound, plus it is very pricey. Greer is a nice place to visit but i wouldn't pay to stay at their expensive resort...save your money and camp if you like.

Our friends Mike & Annette are the proud new owners of this beautiful chalet in Show Low and we went to go check it out and we loved it! It was so peaceful and relaxing here! Their reading chairs were the comfiest! We are coming back to read on their porch later :)

You could get really use to this lifestyle! :)

Loving life at the Chalet! We can't wait to actually go inside some time and see the rest of this beauty.

My handsome man and his truck....which we both love love love :)

Taking it easy back at the hotel getting some quiet reading time in! Look at the view from our room.... horses! I was nice and LET Lenny use my kindle! I keep borrowing "Real" books to read. So Leonard is  happy to get good use out of the kindle :)

Getting ready for a beautiful Morning Bike ride in the mountains
matching jerseys...check
excited riders....check
Sweet Bikes....check
Spending time with my boyfriend.... PRICELESS! :)

15 mile ride to Fool Hollows Lake and it was a windy windy day! The air is definitely thinner up there but a beautiful ride and wish we could go all day :)

After the ride, got cleaned up and had the BEST BBQ Bacon Burger at the Maverick Corral. We decided to take it easy and head to Woodland Lake. It was a gorgeous park.

We enjoyed listening to the birds sing, holding hands and reminiscing about the early days. We brought our books and enjoyed the awesome weather.

I could see us holding hand and taking walks around the lake when we are 2 little old people! Ahhhh! This is the life.

We walked and talked and watched the sunset! It was beautiful!

It was a perfect weekend getaway with the Man of my Dreams, My Mr. Galaxy!
I love you Leonard! Thanks for being so wonderful to me all these years. You won my heart 14 years ago and you will have it through eternity!

* so are you stuffed to the gills yet? did you make it through my 200th MEGA POST??? I take it back, I think this is the GRAND DADDY of ALL POSTS :) congrats and thanks for reading! stay tuned for more adventures to come :)
