Munich Metro Map

The Munich Metro system consists of two systems, the U Bahn and the S Bahn. The U Bahn stands for Untergrundbahn, meaning "subway" in German. S Bahn, on the other hand, stands for Schnellbahn, meaning suburban express train. These are trains that venture out of Munich into the residential bed communities of Munich. The two networks are interconnected in real terms, though technically separate systems.

This map below is a Munich S Bahn map that also shows the U Bahn.

Cologne Map Germany

Print out a Cologne map down below

Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany (number 1 being Berlin, number 2 being Hamburg, and number 3 being Munich), and has a population of 1,010,269 people. It is also the central focal point of the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, a densely populated conurbation with more than 10 million people living in it.

Cologne spans the Rhine River. The Rhine River is known to flood up over its banks, making Cologne the most flood-prone city in Europe. Various flood control measures have been put into place in Cologne, including flood walls (both permanent and mobile), forecasting and moitoring systems, water pumping stations, and the creation of floodplains and embankments. It is one of the warmest cities in Germany, with annual average annual high temperature being 14.5 °C.

Map of Munich

If you need a good map of Munich for your travels in Germany, then look no further.

With a population of 1.35 million, Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg. It is the regional capital of Bavaria, located in southeastern Germany. It is known as München in German, a name that`s hard to pronounce for English speakers!

Munich is a popular city rated highly by expatriates. One of the things that makes it so liveable is its vast amounts of green space. Englischer Garten, near central Munich, is one of the world`s largest parks inside a city. It is even bigger than Central Park in New York City, with an area of 3.7 square km.

The city has a fairly mild continental climate, with warm but comfortable summers and moderately cold winters with lows below 0. Because it is so close to the Alps and it is at a fairly high altitude, it gets a lot of precipitation, with typically 10 or so days a month seeing precipitation.

Here is a good street map of Munich for your reference.

Hamburg Map Germany

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany, after Berlin. It is, however, not the second largest metropolitan area in Germany. That honor goes to Frankfurt. In any case, the population of Hamburg is more than 1.8 million people. And the metro area has around 4.3 million, slighlty less than Frankfurt`s.

The city is a port city situated on a peninsula, with the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east. The city exists the spot where the Rver Elbe, and the Alster and Bille, come together.

The city experiences an Oceanic climate, with mild weather and rare snowfall. In summer the high temperatures are in the lower 20 degrees centigrade, with in the winter the high temperatures hover in the range of 4 degrees centigrade. It is one of the wealthiest cities on the European continent, and is routinely rated among the most liveable cities in the world.

Berlin Wall Map

Below you can find a Berlin Wall map

At the end of World War II Berlin, the capital of Germany, was divided into four occupation zones, just as the entire country of Germany was. The Western countries` occupation zones (American, French, and British) were separated from the Russian occupation zone (East Berlin) by the Berlin Wall. The wall also encircled the Western section of the city to separate it from East Germany, making West Berlin a Western enclave inside East Germany. This meant that at times the only access to West Berlin was via the air.

The Berlin Wall was torn down in 1989 as the result of a non-violent revolution. Berlin and all of Germany were soon reunited afterwards.

Berlin Metro Map

You can find a good Berlin Subway map and metro map down below

The Berlin U-Bahn is the name of the subway metro system in Germany`s capital city Berlin. The "U" in U-Bahn comes from the word "Underground" which is typically how subways are referred to in Europe. The U-Bahn Berlin Metro began in 1902, and has grown to its present size with 173 stations located on 10 subway lines. Just look at the Berlin U Bahn map, it`s gigantic. Most of the system is found underground.

The U-Bahn is a perfect example of German efficiency in action, with trains every 2 to 5 minutes during the peak rush hours, and every 5 minutes even during the non-peak hours of the daytime, and every 10 minutes at night. Approximately 496 million passengers ride the U-Bahn in a given year. It is therefore the busiest metro system in Germany and one of the biggest in Europe.

Frankfurt Airport Map

The Frankfurt airport map files are down at the bottom

Frankfurt airport is a gigantic international airport located in Frankfurt, Germany. It is the busiest airport in Germany, the third busiest in Europe after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. It is the ninth busiest airport in the world. Frankfurt city is not the largest city in Germany, it is in fact only the fifth largest city. But the airport has carved out a niche as an international transit hub, with countless international passengers transiting through Frankfurt. I myself have been to Frankfurt airport numerous times though I have never been to Frankfurt city. The airport serves 298 destinations in 110 countries, and carried 53 million passengers in 2010.

Despite the fact that Frankfurt city is not a massive city, the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region is the second largest in the country. And its central location in a densely populated megalopolis (basically an ongoing belt of cities and towns that blend into each other for a very long distance) means that numerous other metropolitan areas are within driving distance. Cologne, for example, is around 2 hours away by car, as are the Ruhr Area and Stuttgart.

Here are two Frankfurt airport map files that show the airport`s general outline

Black Forest Germany Map

A Black Forest Germany Map of two can be found down at the bottom of the page.

The Black Forest is wooded mountainous area, in southwestern Germany, in the region of Baden-Württemberg. The Rhine Valley lies to the west and to the south. The area has a land mass of 12,000 square km, or 4,600 square miles, stretching 200 km or 120 miles in length, and being approximately 60 km or 37 miles in width.

The area is referred to as the Black Forest because of the dense presence of conifers that block the sun out of the forest for the most part, creating an eery dark effect. The Romans were the first to give it its name, calling it Silva Nigra which means "Black Forest" in Latin.

Please look down below for an East Germany map

East Germany, officially known as the German Democratic Republic or GDR, was a socialist country that arose in the areas of Germany occupied by the USSR after World War II. The state was declared in 1949.

Existing in the northeastern section of pre-WWII Germany, East Germany occpuied an area of 107,771 square km, or 41,610 square miles. It was bordered by Czechoslovakia to the south, West Germany in the south and west, Poland to the east, and the Baltic Sea to the north.

The German capital city of Berlin was located inside East Germany, but an Ally-occupied enclave existed in West Berlin, effectively cutting the city in two, with the Berlin Wall separating them. The Communist government was overthrown in the revolution of 1989, with the Berlin Wall being torn down seen by the world as a symbol of the triumph of democracy.
