Find your Paradise (Palms!)

I have yet to visit Hawaii, but I constantly see sunset pictures posted by family and friends that happen to be vacationing in paradise.  So, until I take my own vacation in paradise, I have created a sunset here that I can share with you.  This card uses the new Paradise Palms Bundle (stamp set and dies) in the January-June Mini Catalog.

Cardstock used is Basic Black, Basic White and Highland Heather
I used Highland Heather, Poppy Parade and Mango Melody ink, applied to the Basic White cardstock with the Blending Brushes.  The Highland Heather layer was embossed with the Bark Embossing Folder, and I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut out the black frame.  White embossing powder made the sentiment stand out on the black tag.  Ah, to be in paradise.........

Don't forget, when you purchase the Bundle, you save 10% on these 2 items.

Amazing Silhouettes

Do you ever look at a stamp set, and say to yourself "eh, I don't really like this style"?  That was my thought when I received Amazing Silhouettes free from Stampin' Up for attending the Online Convention recently.

Amazing Silhouettes Stamp Set 157814  $22

Amazing Silhouettes Bundle 157819  $44 (Includes the Amazing Thanks Die set)

This set just didn't really grab me, but since I have it, I figured I better see what I can do with it  So, off to trusty Pinterest get inspired.  I saw several different cards using this set, with simplicity being the main idea to highlight the stamp.  I fell in love with this color combo, and the beauty of the stamp really stood out.  So, here is my card.

For this card, I used cardstock in Basic White, Highland Heather and Pool Party, and matching inks.  To get the multiple colors on the stamp, I first inked it with Pool Party, then took a Sponge Dauber and added the Highland Heather randomly over the Pool Party.  It took me a couple of tries to get the right balance of color, and learned to kind of brush the sponge dauber on the stamp so that I didn't have round circles of the Highland heather.  I layered everything on the card base, adding the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon and a sentiment.  This card would work for any purpose, so when I am ready to send it, I can add the specific additional sentiment on the inside.  You could use any color combo you like, just remember when inking the stamp. ink first with the lightest color, then add the darker color with the sponge dauber.

In The Moment

As much as we all love to send out Happy Cards, sometimes you need something a little more thoughtful for special situations.  The new stamp set, In The Moment, is perfect for some of these kinds of cards.  This is from the new January - June Mini Catalog.  When stamped, you can add color in many different ways, Stampin' Blends, Soft Pastels, Water Color Pencils, or leave un-colored.  Here is one of the cards I made using this set, stamped in Momento Black on a piece of wood-look paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack, I then stamped the image again on a piece of Basic White cardstock, colored the image of the woman with Stampin' Blends, and then fussy cut her out.  Then, colored in the window panes a little, and stuck her over the stamped image with Dimensionals. Add the sentiment and a couple of embellishments, and it's done. You can use any colors that you like, this set is so versatile.
