This Way to Fun!

Good day Marion Smith fans!

I'm here today to show you a mini-album I made with two different MSD paper lines - Garment District and Nirvana . Yes, they may all be seemingly different but you'll be surprised how well these two collections complement each other.

Journey Mini Album

This is the cover where I've used mostly papers from Nirvana, layering my cut-outs and popping them up for a 3-dimensional effect. I die cut the flowers from Garment District papers and shaped them for a more gentle contour using the Bloom Impressions Tool. Jazzing up the flower are the new MSD stamens and a piece of bling from Junque and Gems.

Some tips:

1. Your cover can be as layered or as three-dimensional or as cluttered as you like. But remember to do the reverse side first if you're going to make it chunky, as it can be little tricky if you can't lay the base of the album page flat on your work space.

2. We usually try not to clutter the pages in the mini-album or make it too chunky, but you can always make each page more interesting by using fussy-cut accents. I used cut-outs from Garment District to spruce up each page and the 6x6 pad size is just perfect for a mini.

3. Instead of adhering them flat on the page, layer different accents (I used up to 3 layers) and pop up the topmost one using the thinnest 3D foam dots so that your album can still close nicely. Don't forget you typically have a few pages in one mini album so the trick is not to overdo the 3D effect for each page.

4. It's ok to have bits sticking out of your pages - not everything must fit. I do this a lot as I like the "messy" and "out of the box" effect it creates.

Finally, here's a look at the inside pages of the mini and you can see the above tips in action.

For the back cover, I used the MSD Stamp and randomly went over the patterned paper. The rose was fussy cut out, and I used my finger to spread some Stickles over the petals for a shimmery effect. I also tied one of the Junque and Gems monocle pieces to my twine. Inside is a motif I cut out from Garment District.

"Motley" Paper Bag Mini Album by Peggy Lee

Hello everyone on this rainy Sunday morning!!
It's Peggy Lee sharing with you all my
"Motley" Paper Bag Mini Album"
I just love this paper collection by Marion Smith!!
This would be a perfect gift for Mother's Day,
which is fast upon us soon.
While unpacking a few boxes I stumbled across a paper bag mini
album I had all sewn together and the edges inked...
I grabbed it and said this is perfect for Marion's papers!
I decided upon her Motley paper collection...love the vintage tones in this line.
Mini Tutorial
3-paper bags folded and sewn together
Inked the edges of the paper bags.
Picked out papers, cut 6x6 sizes, tore all the edges and inked.
Adhered to each page.
Inserts-Kraft card stock to fit the inside of paper bags (each bag size will be different)
punched tabs, added more torn papers and inked them all.
Then the fun begins Embellishing!!

Here are some of the inside pages to the paper bag mini!

With the inserts pages there is a ton of space
for adding photos!

I just love the cover...this is my favorite flower image that I fussy cut
out from one of the papers....great for a card front, mini album cover
and project life albums!!
The other day while out shopping I picked up some pink crochet string...
I sat down and started crocheting my own flower embellishment!!
It works fabulous with Marion's Junque & Gems
Thanks for stopping by today,

Hugs & Happy Mother's Day
to all...

Hybrid Burlap Mini Album - by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone, I hope you are having an awesome weekend.  I made a little 6x6 burlap mini album in just a few hours, and thought I would share it with you today.  I used  Marion's Scarlet Digitals  along with some odd and end scraps from her Mad Tea Party and Nirvana printed lines.  I love how her printed lines and digi lines compliment each other perfectly!

I added lots of yummy layers to the cover. A few months ago I shared a tutorial on how to make the flower, and I love how it coordinates with the roses in her papers.

For the inside I used one of Tim Holtz' binder mechanisms and 4x6 photo sleeves.

Pull out those punches and dies for projects like this.  They help to add a little interest to photo mats, and make great layering elements.

The journal pages are from some of Marion's Primrose printable. I fussy cut the rose and added it to the far right so it would match the rest of the papers.

I love how this file folder serves as a pocket on one of the pages.

Tags are a great way to add multi-level pages.  Tabs also offer interest sticking out of the margins.

I used some of the ATC sized note cards from her Nirvana collection to give an extra journal spot.

The photo sleeves will offer protection for my photos, and give a nice clean finished look to the album.

This was a super fun project, and I just love it, when you can marry a bunch of itty bitty scraps, to create fabulous layers.   This little mini is going to make a gorgeous gift for one of my scrappy buddies.

Thanks for stopping in today,
