Thoughts on the dialogue form(13)
Having started life as an agnostic, an atheist, even, I have grown much closer to those who are not. I’ve come closer because we’re all talkers, and we’re all stuck with putting things said and done together, but there is no intellectual winner in this contest.
So I pray that there is divine catch-all for all that I find missing. I started as a Sartrean and turned into a bit of an Augustinian. But I can talk to either one. For each sees the same thing. Each is clear about what is in front of him. The words. Sartre did not think you could reconcile them(i.e., the other always ran away with your words). Obviously through prayer, not argument, Augustine saw the reconciliation through a communion of pilgrims.
