DCI 2013: Madison Scouts 2013 Corps of Brothers

I admire the Madison Scouts for basing their show on the life of a soldier, Marcus Luttrell, and his book Lone Survivor. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the Scouts, a feat for any corps. I am excited for this show because I have not seen anything like this, and I am excited to see how the show will carry these concepts.
I started there nails stressing over the logo, because it is a pretty detailed and complicated logo artistically. These nails turned out better as I am getting back into designing more nail art projects. I got through the challenge, and the logo came out well, to my surprise. Here they are!

I started with Essie's Da Bush, as well as Exotic Encounters and Kalahari Kiss by China Glaze. I Also used Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! by OPI and French White Tip and Black Lace Creme by NYC.

I used a small nail art brush to do this design, though I did cut the brush a bit to make it thinner.

Tip: you can mix white and black polishes with lighter and darker colors to get a custom color! Just be careful!

DCI 2013: Blue Knights No Beginning No End

As I do some much needed catching up, I am filing things around in my life! Summer School, looking for a job, and other exciting projects. Anyway, I am so excited to finish this year's DCI nail art! Also, I'm learning how to spin rifle and flag this summer! But I will Save that info for another time.

Here is this years Blue Knights show: No Beginning, No End!

First, I started off with two coats of Black Lace Creme by NYC on my pinky and ring finger, and three coats of french white tip by NYC. THe darker blue was First Mate by China Glaze and the lighter blue was Sunday Funday by China Glaze. I used a small nail art brush that I cut to make a bit smaller.

A quick tip: If you use a nail art brush for designs, dip the brush in acetone to clean off dried polish quickly. I would not recommend this too often as it can degrade the bristles.

I am also excited to see all of the corps I did this nail art for when they stop by in my city! I will do my top 10 favorite tour logos that day!

Tip: Turn off fans and try to do nail art indoors as they can increase bubbling of polish!

Thanks for viewing my nails! Have a great day! c:

Nail art March 2013: Part 1!

so, unfortunately I did it again! I have had a ton of tests and school work and nail art has not been up high on my priority list. I have done this challenge all throughout the month, but I am posting it now because I wanted to edit the photos all at once and I did them all in one day. It takes a bit longer to edit than you might think! Here is the first half of the challenge. The challenge was orginated by Californails, and I learned of it on Instagram, and decided to partake in this awesome challenge!

The first part of this post will contain the next four days of this challenge: Stripes, Gradients, Color Block, and Luck. I did not do the sparkles day because I skipped for some reason! The Chevron look is in the post before this one!
This stripes look was something unconventional I pulled from under my sleeve, with the base being NYC black lace cream, and the stripes NYC French White Tip.

I experimented with different lighing, due to me being home and not in my dorm.  I used the sunlight for these photos, which was a challenge, being that I have only used natural light for nail photos twice.
This look was probably my favorite, you cannot see my gradient pink and purple, but I used French White Tip by NYC, Rich & Famous, and Purple Panic, both by China Glaze. The Purple did not show up in the photos, but it is there! :)

This color block design came out better than I thought it would. I used a small nail art brush to create the look, and I used Salsa, Happy-go-lucky, Flyin' High, and Grape Pop as the colors. I also used my trusty French White Tip by NYC. I think the only drawback I noticed is that the pattern was not all squares nor all rectangles!

This is a close up of China Glaze Angel Wings on top of Gemma by Zoya. I used three coats of Gemma, and two of Wings.

I also put a top coat on, just to see if the look would intensify, and it did! I like the look both ways, they're just as gorgeous with or without the top coat.
