Obama’s budget for next year… $3 trillion in fact and an additional $250 billion this year to make it $1.75 trillion. That’s a lot of money. Ah but “he vowed to slash federal spending by $2 trillion.” That makes me feel so much better. Whatever is he going to slash? Priorities!
As he did in his speech to Congress on Tuesday night, Obama kept his focus on what he considers to be the right priorities: honest and open budgeting; investments in health, energy and education; and tax relief for middle-income families.
He did mention something about education from birth in that speech. Guessing that means government indoctrination in political correctness. Your baby is not your own. Tax relief, I’ll believe that one when I see it.
He compared the nation’s budget woes to a family’s, saying this is not a time to redecorate the house, but rather one when the foundation must be built.
A foundation of massive debt, what a way to go! If families followed suit, they would be in deep trouble. They have too much debt as it is. And how he would finance it is troubling.
Obama’s budget would boost taxes on the wealthy and curtail Medicare payments to insurance companies and hospitals to make way for a $634 billion down payment on universal health care. That is a little more than half the money it would take to extend insurance to 48 million uninsured Americans.
One doesn’t curtail payments without curtailing benefits. I see rationed health care for the elderly and disabled. When I go on Medicare, I expect my benefits to be drastically reduced. After all, MS is an expensive disease. Expect it won’t pay for my very expensive meds which cost more than I get from Social Security. Damn.
Still going for universal health care which will be somewhat like an HMO meaning managed denial of care. Still I don’t like this very much.
I don’t like this massive debt very much either. Government is going in the wrong direction IMHO.
Update: Budget is $3.6 trillion. That’s an unimaginably huge amount of money.
This whole spending money like mad thing is insanity.

I agree. We will pay for this and I fear it will get ugly.
Canada used to cut off access to some services by the patient’s age. Those patients came to this country.
When O rations our health care, where will we go?
