Merry Christmas!

Have a very merry Christmas everybody!  We went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO for a couple of days this week.  We only live an hour away, but we decided to stay a couple of nights in Branson.
I love wearing Christmas sweaters.  When I saw this tree display, I had to take my picture with it!
This is my "let's take another picture!" look, and Chris's "another one?" look.  LOL
We watched the musical "It's A Wonderful Life".  It was really funny, and as usual, I cried at the end.  Chris smooched me when I tried to take this selfie.  LOL

We also watched the musical "A Christmas Carol".
Standing in line, waiting for the plays, was the perfect opportunity to take selfies.
We also took a carriage ride pulled by this donkey.

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Luke 2:

8 ¶  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15  And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16  And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger."
Have a very merry Christmas!

Single Wedding Ring Blocks

Black Friday, I got new slippers that look like my Oreo!
I now have 14 blocks, eight from my Sew Sweet Bee and six I have made.
Here are my last two that I made.
I did make time to do my nails.  I got the plaid tips from Avon, they are nail stickers.
I made my fruitcakes.  I use my my stepmother's recipe, here.http://missyscakesandaprons.blogspot.com/2010/12/fruitcake-and-sculpted-dog.html

I love Christmas.  Before you say you do not like fruit cake, be sure to try homemade fruitcake first!

Merry Christmas!

Feline Friday

Baby, it's cold outside!

We were super shocked to Pippi sleeping on Oreo.  She is usually beating up on him.  LOL

We are  now on Christmas break and it is starting to get chilly.  When it gets cold the cats start to cuddle on the bed for warmth.

Coin Purse

I finally bought a clasp to make a coin purse a couple of weeks ago.  Yesterday I made my first coin purse.  I need to find a better pattern to follow though.
I fussy cut the big rose for the front of the coin purse,
and fussy cut two smaller roses for the back of the coin purse.
This is the inside of the coin purse.  I love this material too, it just makes me smile!
To keep it real:  My corners where the latch bends, are not sewn very well and are a mess.  I tried reinforcing them by hand stitching them.  The tutorial I found said to glue the top into the clasp to hold it while I sewed it on.  Not only did the glue make a mess, but as it dried, it made it very difficult to push the needle through.  I was thinking of maybe seeing if my binder clips would work to hold the material in place while I sew it onto the clasp.  If you have a pattern you like to use, please share it with me!  My friend, Clarissa, asked me to make her one!  LOL

Thanks!

Finished Blocks

Hello everyone!  I have missed talking with ya'll!
I was determined to finish the quilting on my husband's quilt before working on anything else.  After three months of working at the school and not doing any quilting, I finally realized that I can't quilt unless I have a whole day to sit and concentrate on it.
However, I can piece my blocks here and there.  I moved a hand crank sewing machine into the living and have a block to work on anytime I have an extra five minutes.
This is the block I made for Trish for the Sew Sweet Bee.  When I saw my bowtie material, I knew I needed to make a bow tie block with it.  She asked for a sampler quilt.
I received another Sew Sweet Bee block for my quilt. This one was from Erin.
 Oreo had to say hi.
I made two more single wedding ring quilt blocks for my quilt.  The lighting was terrible, so you cannot the colors very well.
I hope you have a great weekend!

Small Town Quilt Show

Our local museum, here in Ava, MO, had a small quilt show last Saturday.  There were some beautiful quilts there.  The board members made a beautiful embroidered quilt that they raffled off.

Here is a vintage crazy patchwork quilt.
Here is a vintage, friendship quilt from the 1950's.
I love the lone, different block in the corner!
Dinnishia Fleetwood painted blocks on her quilt.
This next quilt was hand quilted and hand appliqued by Ina Fike, the block is Kansas City Star.
 I love the border!

Kimberly Pitts made a John Deere tractor quilt that was cross stitched.

Estella Smith made two landscape quilts.  This is something I want to try sometime.

Sally Hicks made this chip basket quilt back in the 1980's.

I love all of the details on this Virginia Reel quilt.  Estella Smith started this quilt in 1972 and finished it in 2014.  It is kind of hard to see the details with the sun shining through.
I love the hand embroidered dancing blocks.

She appliqued musical notes on the quilt.  I love the ric-rac on the border.
 Did you notice the corners?
This Double Wedding Ring quilt was made in the early 1900's.

I really enjoyed this small quilt show, I will definitely enter some quilts next year!
