Bald Eagle

she flew in front of me
wings spread wide
gliding

landed on a tree quite close
a feathered being of the sky

an obvious queen
there is no denying

we are in the midst of a 3 day snow storm

this sweet little creek photo was taken before the storm began
I think we have 8" so far, two more days to go

I think winter is showing off at this point ;-)

Montana Glimpses

some trees have dropped their leaves
a perfect perch for a
Bald Eagle

some trees still cloaked in their golds

leaves float upon the pond

last night
was the first night
that the ponds froze

yesterday
these beautiful flowers celebrating life
in front of the health food store
not sure how many frosts they can exist through

autumn beckons life to sink below the surface of the earth
to rest deeply
till next year

I am enjoying the last of autumns
fungal beauty

Lost ~ time behind

Long ago
the sun
rising and setting
had daily witnesses
life bustled
animals thrived
one could hear
laughter
and smell
sweat
from a hard days
work
people and animal were
married to this land
their bodies were made of the air they breathed
the soil that fed them
the sun that brought life
the rain that quenched all thirst
now
their bones
nourish the land that once fed them
the earth
is never lost
~

So tiny, so old, so many stories live in it's bones:

Life~
lost and found
one dies
another
thrives

cycles
and circles
only
now

My first post in my first blog ~

I sit near a window with a cup of hot Tulsi tea,
glancing up from time to time,
watching snow flakes the size of small feathers float through the sky.
My neighbor once told me "
this is the romantic style of snow".
It most certainly is dreamy!

A thick blanket of snow,
surrounds my wee log cabin.
I am filled with wonder,

watching a rare breeze stir to life,
Dumping piles of heavy snow
crashing to earth
from tall trees.
Wind parts clouds,
golden sunlight pours through
highlighting the day's glory,
coloring my world with shadows of blue and gray.

Sensing that writing a blog is an intimate sharing that is rich and full of creative possibilities, I feel excited and shy to expose myself in this way.
I welcome you to my blog with open arms and tender heart.

The other day I had the honor of taking this huge bird's portrait as it lifted into flight!
