Early Spring

meadows of snow

turn to creeks and lakes

along edges artful ice bathed in shadow

and sunlight

colors and shapes

reflections that dance

colored by last autumns grass

 and shadows

grace ongoing snow

Water Play

sometimes the sun comes out to play

yet Spring is often cloudy here:

rocks in pastel colors

are a wonderful sight

nights are cold

surface water freezes

freezes and thaws

the ever changing expressions of spring

Today:

like a layer of thick icing

winter's mantle of snow

dressing the trees 

in the place of leaves

tiny dunes

adorable peaks

shadows dance

with sunlight

i take joy

in winter's expression

Autumn has a signature 

within its' light and colors

dancing clouds 

move through the land

setting sun 

paints zenful lines

forest mushrooms

intertwine

lake shore captures fallen leaves

bear tracks

as fresh as the air i breathe

to a cave

or a tree 

I think it is still too warm here 

to hibernate
