My March in Fabric!

This was March - the month of mad hares, a bit of sunshine and a hope that I might get closer to my goal of NO MORE UFOs!  One UFO finished in the top left corner and two more showing progress - middle and bottom right....that cannot be bad!

I have to thank the lovely Rhonda and her Finish-along! for that progress!

Thank you Rhonda! Thank you Rhonda!  Thank you, thank you Rhonda!

The one in the middle wasn't on my list for the first quarter but I was thinking of including it in my next list and have just moved it closer to the finishing line in anticipation.

You can all join in for the next quarter - April to June - the link up post will be at Rhonda's on 7th April.   Go check it out!

I finished my other two quilts in previous months so that was a great result for me.

My other pics are of bee blocks, my blog birthday giveaway, a reversible bag I finished up from fabric cut out and given away by the lovely Cindy!   And my new project Rose Star blocks directed by the lovely Clare @ Selfsewn though she has now started another project - tjah I just cannot keep up!

Linking up to Lynne and her Fresh Sewing Day!  Check out what everyone else has been up to and I'll no doubt see you there!

Out and About with Martha!

On Friday my friend and I took Martha May out on her first official outing....

If you don't know what I'm talking about - Martha May is the gorgeous bag sitting on my lap which I was lucky enough to win from the lovely and generous Judith @ Rags to Bags.  Yes she made it herself clever, clever girl that she is!

Here we are sitting outside - yes outside in January !  - and it was so sunny I was screwing up my eyes!  Ok I did keep my coat on but we enjoyed our tea!

And Martha enjoyed her bit of sunbathing!

We also enjoyed our lunch....

Our cake with more tea....

-

And on the way home we diverted briefly into Tesco - yes, not sure Martha was so pleased with this venue....but I got the chance to test out her capaciousness and I have to say she easily swallowed some strawberry strings and chocolate covered doughnuts - requisites for my daughter's sleepover...

And when I looked at my photos I caught this lady through the window!

Bag envy if ever I saw it - could be your next customer Judith!  And if you like this bag you will love this - Judith's latest makes!

My win from Judith!

Judith had a giveaway on her blog Rags to bags just before that hectic Christmas season offering one of her bags!

Guess what?

I won!  You knew that didn't you - you worked that out from the post title!

Well I chose Martha May....and here she is in all her smartness!

And just look inside....

I thought Judith's bags looked nice on screen but have to tell you they are sold short in the photo - Martha May is a stunner and I look forward to taking her out - I just hope I live up to her expectations!

Not only did I receive Martha though.  We were asked what colour we liked  and just look at the lovely pouch Judith made just for me....

I love it!

I love it all!

Thanks you very much Judith!

Don't you think Giveaways are dangerous?

Twice now I have thrown my hat into the ring for a Giveaway and been so tempted by the glory on offer that I have ended up buying the fabric/ribbons I thought I'd win.

The second time I even bought the ribbon before the draw date on the basis that there were so many applicants that I was unlikely to win and in order to apply you had to specify what ribbon you would choose and what you would make with it - and once I had thought of it I definitely wanted to go ahead.

So I am going to make a beach bag with my Dan Stiles Marine bundle and this lovely ribbon below.

All I need now is a gorgeous beach bag design...anyone got any suggestions as I haven't seen the ultimate pattern yet?  Here I have just mocked up the sort of thing I was thinking of.  It will have to have lots of zippered pockets - we all need those on the beach  - and I'd better check out some waterproof rip-stop lining for wet costumes...

Don't you just love those kissing whales? And do you see the scallops on the ribbon match the waves on the fabric.  I am soooooo in love with this idea.  You never know there might be enough fabric to make a matching beach quilt, which will have to be well padded as the beaches along his part of the south coast of England are all pebbles, at least until the tide goes out!

If you like this fabric then just go and see the lovely quilt made by Judith from Needles & Lemons

As I said Giveaways are dangerous - perhaps they should have a Government Health Warning:  Giveaways can SERIOUSLY damage your WEALTH!
