When all else fails, DO what you LOVE. That is all.

Just some simple snaps from Sydney last month. City wandering is nice early in the morning when it's calm and quiet (although a bit cold).

Happy weekend friends!

The fireworks look like a splash of bokeh confetti.

My first attempt at taking photos of fireworks with film, using my LC-A+. This was at Darling Harbour in Sydney, a couple of weekends ago during the city's Vivid Festival.

I came prepared with a little tripod, which I didn't end up using as I rested the camera on a side railing.. and parked myself in that spot for half an hour, making sure I could get the view I wanted. The film was ISO 400, and pushed 2 stops to 1600. Not entirely sure if that was the best way to do it (probably not, and I might try shooting with low ISO next time), but I'm pretty happy with these vibrant bursts of red.

P.S. not sure why the top left corner of all the photos looks ever so slightly ripped off!

A good spot for danish and almond croissants on a weekend morning.

Earlier this year I took part in Rhianne's 2012 photoswap. These are a handful of the photos I took, which were developed by my photoswap partner Kaspars. It was push processed (from 200 to 800 if I remember correctly). I think I took a lot of them in a low light setting, so the push processing really helped bring out the colours. I was pleasantly surprised to how these turned out. More photos over on flickr.

P.S. see Einstein riding a bike on the last photo?

April is flying by really quickly. Here's my little "just a minute" recap for the month.

Watching... Once Upon a Time and Revenge
Reading ... Life of Pi
Listening to... Kimbra
Drinking... hot chocolate as the days get cold.
Making and eating... rice paper rolls.
Learning... that little details matter in design and in life, that getting on the wrong tram on your way home is not a good idea, that bunnies and babies are super cute, that it's empowering to have people believe in you even when you can't do it yourself, and that it's never too late for chocolate easter eggs.

How has your April been? x

On the weekend, we made a batch of red velvet cupcakes. It was a wee bit burnt on some, but the sweet icing made up for it. Yum! This is the recipe we used, if you'd like to try for yourself.
