Using themed papers where the theme is iffy

Of course there's a rather long involved story when I created these 2 pages. ðŸ¤£The picture of Ash alone was supposed to go on the the first page. Well. I used the Playful Pets 6x6 pad that I mistakenly purchased because I liked the colors and didn't look closely - as I have no pets. However, I've been sneaking it in w/o pets lately. Which brings me to the 2 different pages.

I was going to put Ash alone on the PET paper but I felt that people would think I was inferring he was a dog. My pal Holli Dagg-Hicks helped me out indicating it probably wasn't a good idea, sooooo I replaced the photos with a dog in the picture and used UP some really old Authentic and oddly its a beah theme. Surprised me too but I love how they turned out.

Make Waves - 6x6 mini album

This 6x6 paper pad was an impulse buy.
I loved it the minute I laid eyes on it.
And no matter what...
I was buying it even though I knew I'd never really use it
personally, because I really don't know why LOL.
However, made a new friend that loves the beach
and was in a creative mood so.....
she's getting a mini album
and the title totally fits her "Make Waves".
This paper pad by P3 whom I never heard of
(but I'm not really cutting edge anymore)
gives you 3 sets of the same papers
that I thought was cool because I did a lot
of fussy cutting and pop dotting.
And because this is an album cover page with pop dots
I added transparency to kind of shield it.
Hopefully.

I wanted to shabby chic it up because it practically begged for it
so I cut my own chipboard pages and they may
or may not be a tad wonky.
And I mussed up the edges on the papers.

Also included, are quite a few embellishments and
journaling spots that need fussy cutting.
Ah man didn't see that scrap of better when
I was taking pix and I already gave my friend the album.
Sigh.

So I used every paper at least once and
sometimes twice and
whacked a lot of stuff out.

I did add a couple of my own die cuts
that may or may not work well.

Love the dimension pop dots give
and hopefully she won't be afraid to add
photos and journaling.

Of course I forgot to photo the back of the book
but its just white gesso over chipboard
a tiny envelop that came in the embellishmehts
and a stamp that says
'created just for you.'

Pages in my 6x6 album

Love how these pages turned out and 6x6 is a fun size.
Cedar memories are a capture of items I
had been keeping in my cedar chest (which has seen better days).
So I found a high school club jersery, did embroidry
in those days, my candy striper outfit and cap
HS notebook and newspaper,
my confirmation dress and favorite first born outfit.

This is a 2 page spread and it feels
weird the title is on the second page but I'm not changing it
because I really like there.
I printed my photos 1.9x1.9 and that
works perfectly in getting 6 pictures on 4x6.
I really love doing this because while these photos are
precious, I have a small album to work with
and those photos would take up the entire book,
practically (I'd need more page protectors) if
I did them singularly.
So...while they are important I like that there combined
because this is basically how they were
found.

The papers are DCWV playful pets 6x6 and
while I have no pets - the B side papers rock.

Here Comes the Sun...

A baby boy album for the grandson and I had so
much fun doing it and it was way
out of my comfort zone.
(I did crochet a blanket too)
I wanted to make a 6x6 album because most
people print their photos 4x6.
I used fun enamel paint colors that I tried to match
with the papers
on a 6x6 chipboard album I got
I really dithered about between wanting and album
with page protectors and a boring
baby paper pad I had
OR

Using this fun bright paper that I can't remember
the name of and I thought I wrote down yet
here we are.

Using all kinds of dies and stamps.

Had a lot of fun using the critters
and that's when I found that the giraffe-
Gertrude - I some how lost the itty bitty dies
for his face.
So I winged it.
I can't begin to express how annoyed I am
about losing that die.
I am careful.
I put it in a dish.
I count them twice.
Tore everything apart looking.
Hoping they show up.

Tucked in tags and made envelops
because there were not a lot
of journaling spots on the pages
I sort of got carried away.

I did a lot of hand drawing which I
normally don't do - because I don't do it well.
I wanted it to bright, fun, happy
and cute.

Love how it turned out
and if you know the mfg of the paper I used
I'd love it if you'd let me know.

Baby Girl Album 6x6 Size

I used the 8x8 Paper Studio Baby Girl paper pad and love how
it turned out. Really Really cute stuff and some
to fussy cut.

I enjoy doing staggered pages and all photos can be tucked
in and under. Keeping it simple as it is a gift.
Also trying not to be real bossy - as this can be used anyway
my great niece would like doing it.
Love the thread and doily and a really neat tag
tucked in that can be used for
either photos or journaling.
There is a baby blanket in the works but
it does not match color-wise.
Quite the rebel on this one LOL.
I do want to get some ribbon and tie a bow
on the rings.
Drives me crazy not to have one, however,
in looking at it, it actually doesn't look bad without the bow
and maybe because it won't get in the way when looking through the book.

Another Mini Album

It appears when the mojo hits the road that
doing a project such as a mini album
helps getting back on track.
Sort of.
I picked this mini up at Michael's for $2.50 😊
I know RIGHT.
It is a gardening album, but, in my humble opinion, it doesn't need
to be totally about flowers, plants, etc.
It's gonna be a gift for someone at sometime so shhhh!!!
I did add some of my own die cuts and
used cardstock for mats for consistency throughout.
The mat sizes are 3.5x4.5 and 2.5x3.5
shaking it up a bit with two on a page - but can also
be used for one big photo
if so desired.
Everything is adhered in such a way that a photo
can be slid under.
Two tags just hanging out and why not.
I really miss this style.
Used to be my go to until I had boy grandkids.
Styles do change.
The seed packets can be used for extra photos
or journaling on the back since it's plain white.
Those little charms came with the kit.
Don't they make you swoon.
Recollections.

Rolling with another 4x4 photo on 6x6

I also rolled with the splattering of white paint
while I had it out and ready to go.
I actually splattered it before I added anything on the page.
I also rolled with basically the same design.
I'm okay with that.

I picked a card stock base mostly because of indecision
and the fact I didn't wanted want to whack down a 12x12
I wanted it to be a leftover scrap.
This card stock worked perfectly because it had
been whacked into previously.
So I layered the photo and this top left corner made
me crazy because the layers were out of control so I made
this cluster to make myself happy about those goofy layers.
I also sort of got the background idea from Inky Quill
but mine didn't work out as cool as hers #1.
and #2 I used a photo with lots of layers that I
put together before I came up with the layering strips.
Her's was not perfectly straight -but because the offset of the
strips with the gaps made me crazy -
I whacked the strips sort of straight on each side.
Also because of the white space in the photo
to the left that's where all the embellishments were going.
I hadn't planned on that goofy corner so
everything lined up right down the left side
so in the spirit of the triangle
I added some enamel dots to the right.
The title came from a die cut from HL I got on sale
that's actually for a planner and didn't
it fit in the space quite nicely.

Sweet Lou - love that hat.

4x4 photo on a 6x6 page

Love the look - they are perfect sizes for each other.
It all started out wanting to use this paper that I whacked down
for something else. I also love that I purchased
two of each papers and I think I'll do that going forward.
Anyhoo, I really liked both sides of this paper and ended up
using the same side of this paper twice.
Love the clusters going on at the top and bottom.
And the "notebook" paper looks gives it lots of texture.
I also went crazy with different colors of green.
Also the white splatters - I have given up on white mists
and now just use white enamel paint watered down a smidge.
And it stays white and not a goofy grey.

Sweet photo of Sam.

In the pink baby album and blanket

A lovely, dear young lady who I have the
distinct pleasure of sweating with and then whining about said sweat
(when she isn't pregnant)
when we work out.
As soon as I found she was expecting and knew what
flavor said baby would be I got to work.
 Shocking I know.
This was a 6x6 Recollections paper pad.
With some extra and leftover embellies.

Love how they both turned out and
she totally loved them.
Whew!

Baby girl mini album

For no particular reason except that I had some leftover
items from a couple of previous albums.
and I like projects.
6x6

And that new elephant stamp.
Isn't that the cutest.
Bundle of Joy is the line from Echo Park with
other odds and ends thrown in.
Totally adorable.
