Heron on the green

I haven't been shooting much lately but I still try to photograph something most every day. Usually while I'm out running an errand I look around for something special to show you. Something that catches my eye. I have this horrible fear of running out of photo's to publish! Ha ha!

Today I went to apply for another job. On my way there I looked for places to stop on the way home. I love this local river and had hoped I'd see someone out wading through the water, fly fishing, but there wasn't a soul around. I scooted down towards the water just a little more to look under the bridge and this is what I saw . . .

Many of the leaves here still haven't changed. You can see the green reflecting down onto the water giving it a very interesting color. I just thought it was really something special!

When I went up onto the bridge and looked down, the water looked black. How you look at things in life can make all the difference.

So who's watching the Chilean miner rescue efforts? Oh my gosh, it's so exciting! I can't imagine if it were my husband down there. What really freaks me out is that capsule. Nothing like being wrapped like a sausage for 15 minutes . . . shudders . . .

More Roses on the River

Phew! Where did the time go? I had planned on posting this just a day or two after the original Roses on the River, but that didn't happen. I'm so in awe by those of you who post daily, and work. I don't know how you do it.

A slightly different focus from the photo in my last post. In this shot you can see the old mills a little better. For the most part they've been turned into condos, but there is still a couple business' located inside one of them.

Since it was early in the morning, plenty of birds were hanging about. Herons are always a favorite of mine.

Now these guys, I don't know where they came from. I do believe they're domestic Geese so where they go in the winter I have no idea but they weren't to afraid of people.

For the most part they just stood there and looked at me while I kept shooting.

Within a minute or two it was back to standing on one leg, tucking their heads under their wings, and taking a nap. Life on the river in the morning seems pretty relaxing.

What are your plans for Memorial Day?
My younger daughter and I will be heading out to New Castle to hang out with friends. It's supposed to be a great day here in New Hampshire and we're going to enjoy it!

A perfect Saturday morning in New England

A perfect weekend morning is dropping my daughter off at work early and heading for the coast in hopes of capturing something beautiful. They don't get much better than this morning ... slightly cool but getting warmer by the minute, low humidity, clear blue skies ....

I knew right where I was headed, Rye Harbor. There's always plenty of activity going on since several cruise boats head out along with a few fishing boats and pleasure boats.

(don't mind the blur) Guess I had already missed the AM low and high tides. And just in case you were wondering as you were headed out on a whale watch or sight seeing tour ... there's only 111 days left until Christmas. LOL!

See the man with the hat? He's the Dockmaster. The one with all the info. I'll bet he enjoys his job talking to all the people from near and far on a daily basis. Is he giving me the eye?

I spoke with the guy in the dingy when he came back in. Turns out this isn't the first time he's been photographed. Once he and his little boat (and one oar since he lost the other one!) ended up on the front page of a local paper!

I love shooting into the sun. It gives photos a black/white/grey/blue look that is really cool. See the 2 islands way off in the distance? Those are the Isles of Shoals located 6 miles off the coast of New Hampshire. When you can see them this well you know it's a clear day!

Bumble enjoying the final wild beach roses of the season. They smell so damn good I don't blame him. I'd roll in them too if I could.

Just over the rise on the left is the ocean

Plenty of Herons and other birds enjoying the glorious morning

I told you it was a perfect morning. If only I could show you ALL the photo's I took! Well, I suppose I could, but that would take a while ; )

*As you may or may not have noticed I've been on a blogging hiatis lately. Life just gets busy and it wears me down. Whether or not I'm back on a regular basis only time will tell.
